The origins of Haze

the point i was trying to make is there is much confusion with the name indica. When Washington and the pharmacopoeia's are referring to Cannabis Indica *ahem* *ahem* they are talking about Shanti's Indian side of the widow. :D

But are they? The northern part of India, which includes modern-day Pakistan is full of indica, the valleys of northern Pakistan like Swat are home to strains very similar to those found the other side of the border in Afghanistan, what we in the west would call a Kush type. They were definitely aware of the differences between the broadleafed hash cultivars of the north and the narrowleaved ganja cultivars of the south, what exact nomenclature they used I don't know, I suspect they called anything from India 'Indica' so they could be referring to a Keralan sativa or a Pakistani indica, I suspect the latter as it's not like they didn't study the different types and their effects, O'Shaughnessy studied it in the 1840s and the Brits did plenty of more studies after that in India.

As for greenhouses in the Appalachians, dream on, the level of enforcement against growers in the southern Appalachians in the early 80s and since totally precludes such things.

Well I suppose the back to back season's I did with Mango Haze, Super Silver Haze, Mango Widow, G13 x Skunk and SSH x MH never happened?

You were saying?

see there ya go, and if you can do it maybe bigherb can too

like i said maybe you should start encouraging people more as opposed to shitting on them
Coop,
Nice try, but BigHerb has contended that he grew at 75% Haze variety outdoors, and finished it, in New York. As I have previously pointed out a few times, that would only be possible with a green house. Of course herb could do it, if I did, but that is not the original point of contention.

Thats a nice picture you've painted, however you dancing around the facts, including your theories that it Nevilles Haze could in fact be grown outdoors in New York, have simply diminished into the puff of smoke they were called out to be in the first place.

So, when you want to come back to us, in this little place I like to call reality, we'll be waiting young man.

I'd bet my stash that BigHerb grew out a Nev's Haze, culled it in early November when the flowers were stringy and tiny, and it was still the best smoke of his life-because it was a real sativa.

I grew out a polyhybrid which is 50% Nev's haze and 50% mystery Brazillian sativa for the last few years outdoors in an area with a very similar climate to New York City. It never finished but the amount to which some phenos finished was surprising and occasionally ~very~ satisfying.

I'm guessing BigHerb is just exaggerating a bit.

Hi all,
Being close to 40 N, not very far from either Bobby Digital or Big Herb, but having actually grown 50% haze varieties outdoors, I can tell you from first hand experience that a Green House is necessary in order to bring the plants anywhere near close to an acceptable harvest window. This was something I was aware of well before I even attempted such a feat, and it required a tremendous amount of work and patience in order to pay off. And despite my best efforts, even with a green house and two season's worth of experience, not one of the plants was truly ready for harvest, even in my green houses, come harvest time. But they were close enough, to be exceptional smoke and rewarding in a few different ways. Chiefly, being able to speak from experience on this particular subject, where few others seem to have a firm understanding of the nuances involved in such a task.

If the plants above, or below, had not been moved into a green house, they would never have made it to an acceptable harvest window. The many elements mother nature throws at you here on the East Coast past Mid September can be absolutely disastrous for the marijuana cultivator who is ill prepared. Some years, the harvest window open's up a little bit longer, but never long enough to finish varieties such as Mango Haze, Super Silver Haze (both just 50% haze hybrids) and certainly not Nevilles Haze, a 75% haze variety well known for going quite far into the flowering cycle by in large.

As Scorpion pointed out earlier, getting the plants to grow here is not a problem at all. A 100% haze variety would grow here, however getting them to flower without running into serious problems is. There are some haze hybrids available here at MNS, with less than 50% haze genes, which will exhibit phenotype(s) that will in fact come in pretty close to the harvest window outdoors found in the Appalachians. However, other more haze dominant varieties will need some extra precautions in order to proceed forward.

come on now

Maybe ???

Bf

Ive actually grwon 2 pheno 2 different years the first was impressively fat calxyes while growing not wat i exspected .IMO more nl5 dom .VERY VERY FAR from stringy .The second was more haze with buds all along the branch with pronounced foxtails everywhere

If anyone recalls i mention growing 2 phenos of sk/hz aswell ready b4 n the last day of OCT if i wished could hav stayed bout another 2 weeks,Both crazy hazy lookin almost more soo than the first NH pheno

Id love to see any post where ive ever lied or said any crazy shit aside from wat you experts claim/believe is impossible .I really love for shanti to touch on this subject of my 4 reported MNS haze hybrids .I encourage his very good friend n long time N supporter to bring this up during there next luch sit down

Im not crazy ,I dont lie neither do i exaggerate

Almost forgot ,again i look forward to a future MNS gathering .I Dont know how possible this is ,i have one request a projection screen and 5 - 10 minutes to show my dvr's

I also hope n plan to go to the 2012 Ic cup and watch hazy lady take first place in the sativa category an which ever other category she may enter

I didn't say growing in a greenhouse in the Appalachians isn't possible I said that you were dreaming if you imagined that people were doing commercial scale greenhouse grows.

They weren't, easy to prove that, look at the records of busts, they were all outdoor grows.

Putting up a large greenhouse in that area would be akin to putting up a big sign that said 'weed growing in progress here'.

Just study the arrest figures and seizure quantities, the feds went through the area like shit through a goose in the early 80s.

Zamalito posted a ton of information on this subject, it's worth reading, some of it was back at icmag when he was there years ago but he's also posted on the subject at breedbay more recently.

lol

*yawns*
You do realize other people read this right? Let me remind you one more time what you wrote. And I can assure you, I will not respond back to you for some time in the future, at any rate, because of your actions past, present and future.

The entire point of the conversation you interjected yourself into, was that a green house was necessary to finish 50% MNS haze hybrids or better on the East Coast of the United States. There was nothing said about commercial green houses, that is only an attempt by you to bypass responsibility for your postings.

Jesse why didn't you write in your greenhouse basics article that you had hands on experience with greenhouse growing in the appalachian mountains growing mh and ssh?

Why did you write it and pretend like it was somebody else, somebody you knew? or were you referring to yourself in the third person?

Which is it ?

Did you personaly build the greenhouse and grow outside in the appalachian mountains and in your article you were referring to yourself in the third person? or did you just know somebody who grew mh,ssh and they let you take pictures and then you made a diary and pretended that you grew them yourself?

For example, one grower took scrap lumber and plywood that was going to waste lying around the house and put it together to make a crude frame for a green house. From there, the grower salvaged polyethylene from a friend’s house that was used and weathered to attach too the frame of the green house. With a very minimal investment for a staple gun and staples, with less than a weeks worth of work and an $11 investment this grower had a green house which was suitable enough to grow sativa dominant varieties such as Mango Haze and Super Silver Haze in an area in the Appalachian Mountains thought otherwise impossible to cultivate such varieties

If you did personally build the greenhouse in the appalachian mountains and grow the lines ssh and mh then you are certainly more capable than most on the forums

If the common male tried to carry the equipment needed to build a greenhouse out into the appalchian mountain regions then they would be identified quickly as looking suspicious but if anybody identified Jesse carrying the equipment then the witness would probably think that they had stumbled onto the set of snow white and the seven dwarfs

Did you whistle while you worked?

Hi-ho hi-ho he's so short he can smell his own toes

I'll say this in my defence, it's pretty hard to figure out what the hell Jesse is talking about half the time so if I misunderstood what he wrote then it's understandable, he has such a holier than thou preachy style of writing that it makes it hard to read.

Also, he sometimes write speculative fiction and presents it as fact so yeah, I'm always highly reticent to take on board what he's saying.

As for past actions, I haven't forgotten that disgraceful and totally fictional Cheese article, that alone is enough to put a big dent in his credibility because it was speculative nonsense from someone who knows absolutely nothing on the subject and made all us Uk folks laugh at him for being so wrong yet so adamant he was right and all us guys who know the Cheese inside and out wrong.

If Jesse is prepared to write something so totally bogus as that Cheese article then stand by it regardless then you have to question what else he wrote and whether it is also bogus.

No wonder people get so pissed off at these jokers they start polls asking if they should be dealt with.

I finished a Durban Poison at 56.4N in a greenhouse in 97, went purple from the cold in early November but was done on the 11th, I remember it was the 11th because I stopped trimming at 11am to observe the minute's silence. I always do because 19 male members of my family are buried on the western front, 7 of them at Ypres. My grandfather had 6 elder brothers, only one survived.

Of course, Durban isn't as long flowering as many, only 14-15 weeks but it really wouldn't grow well outdoors here without a greenhouse.

NYC Canada like i sed you can grow sativas even in Antarctica but in a greenhouse.

why would i need a greenhouse when here in Canada (my part) we still had to mow our lawns in decenber

to me it sounds like you are talking about modern times but useing long past history to make your claims

the weather has changed A LOT in the last 10 years maybe longer but quite noticably in the last 10

this past season i had plants out a FULL 7 weeks longer then a friends who harvested his completely finished right beside mine and mine went the 7 more weeks (into dec) WITHOUT a greenhouse

You two are like children, it's pathetic, you should open your own thread to argue in becaue you've totally ruined this one and a couple of others.

Hempy, look at a friggin map, Canda has two borders, one with Alaska, one with the US along the 45th Parallel. Yes, most of Canada's population lives within 100 miles of that border, the rest of Canada is one huge empty prairie until you get to the north where it's all forests and mountains.

I am well aware of the type of plants you can grow in Canada, smoked quite a lot of Canadian bud including some Colombian Gold done on Vancouver Island in a greenhouse at 45.6N with a darkening system. Vancouver Island the the Pacific coast of that part of Canada has a warmer maritime climate than the rest of Canada, hence it the outdoor hotbed, also, a lot of the California and Oregon growers moved to Vancouver in the early 80s to escape Green Merchant. Nolalu Bay near Vancouver Island is home to a strain called Nolalu Gold which is an adapted Colombian, taked 9-11 weeks indoors, damn good stuff.

The real problem with no moderation here is there is no one to go back through threads like this one and delete all the pages of utter bullshit and bile some people have spewed all over it so the decent people can follow it and keep on-topic.

Hempy is the biggest fucking hypocrite on the net, bangs on about respect for shanti and Nev etc then behaves like the biggest piece of shit possible whenever possible.

Trying to be nice to the old sack of shit has gone out the window now, nothin but scorn and 'go fuck yourself' from me from now on cos it's all he deserves.

Yes, I'm raging at what's been done to this thread...

this is jesse post

Clearly you need to grasp the concept of a public discussion forum.

you need to be looking at your ow actions as well as coops bigherbs and wallys before you start pointing fingers at me.

It's always everyone else isn't it? 6 years I've seen you carry on like this, you're a lost cause, irredeemably rude and ignorant yet you seem to think you know it all. Coop needs to start ignoring you, bigherb needs to shut up and wally is just a decent bloke who, like me is sick to death of you and your shitty attitude and behaviour. You really don't expect to behave the way you do without it upsetting people and making em fire back at ya?

why are you guys so ignorant.

Pot, kettle, don't you own a mirror?

I'm not responding to hempy anymore, it's a waste of time, he will always be right and everyone else a 'fucken idiot'.

I've scraped more pleasant things off the sole of my shoe.
