The origins of Haze

im in canada and did some sats that i didnt chop untill the first week of december , other then a few scattered days of cold it was all good right into dec this last year

im in southern ontario so it reaches pretty far south , about mid point of most of the states , and its funny when some americans i talk to on here call me a northerner and i tell them to look at a map , they soon realise im way further south then they are :p

No question the haze comes from dominicans

Hang on, in the past you've said the NYC Haze/Piff wasn't from the Dominicans and said you knew the weed they were growing in Florida and shipping up to NYC wasn't the Piff/Haze.

This is the problem with being a liar, you keep forgetting what lies you told in the past.

Until you post some pics of your mythical grows you should stfu.

Thx for that info

I'm curious to kno wat you were growin

without rain then our mild falls the haze plants seem to fair well

Hey bigherb let me ask you if you know anything about the Elvis? I always had a strong suspicion that the polyester bud was related to some of the other hazes in the city.

bh Dominicans here are referring to certain "gentlemen's clubs. " Different ones deal in different grade/quality of stuff. I don't think anyones really going around asking these dudes where the ultimate place of origin is on any of their products. The CNet always seemed to be producing the elvis upstate but thats the most i know of that. Heard they will still around in some form

Elvis i hav neva heard of around the way ,only on the boards/books .anything is possible but from reports i dont think it frequents uptown

Not sure wat your saying about gentlemans clubs ? is that were the dominicans you kno tell you ,to cop haze ?

Well call me crazy ,LOL.i havnt asked anyone ive ever got haze from but few who i consider friends ive asked and had no knowledge wat soo ever.I didnt just go uptown to buy haze,my cousin use to live there and has family and friends there ,soo i spent part of my childhood in the heights.

The basic names used by the locals to describe haze is green/brown n piff is the newer slang but it doesnt describe anything exact such as color or traits.

i know the heights is run by dominicans ,a Dominican gang basically has everything on lock.

haze is brought in from Fl n is grown in NYC aswell,as for conneticut i hav no idea.

i wish i knew , got them from a friend of a friend who was growing them in his back yard and got paranoid when they reached 7 feet tall , so my buddy brought them to me and i never did get around to asking what they were , ill try to remember asking next time i see him , one pot did say black something , but was smudged so dunno black what , all i was told was they were 4 different strains (7 plants in total)

Brownville, New York - Sunrise Sunset Calendar

It seems around late september.I understand 12/12 initiates flowering indoor but is this also principle for outdoor aswell?

In my experience flowering non haze related strains flowering started early, well before september maybe july ,if i recall.i hav finished indi dom strains by early-mid oct.

hey
ok cool,
now what are the ambient temps average for that day,High/Low?
But we are talking of just Haze related strains, are we not?
indica dominant is not even at question,we are speaking Haze
...Equatorial Sativas really.
Bigherb, please show me your stuff, you don't know how much I really want to believe you,
but you cannot Finish a Haze Plant outdoors in NYC without a Green House, the weather will not allow it.
How many days does it take a seedling of Nevil's Haze to sex then flower to finish? now take that number and add it to your first 12/12 day in sept in NYC...what is harvest date, outdoor in NYC? Now what are the ambient temps for the harvest date? High/Low

much respect

Im not sure, we cam search the temps its not that important to me ,Ive given dates of my experiences.

here's a link with a quick look New York City: Average Temperatures

Now keep in mind the abnormally warm fall OCT/NOV/Dec we have had the last 3 or soo years.

The reason i mention ,other strains is in reference to the 12/12 you ask of .Im still curious as too the answer of the question i ask .If the 12/12 is needed to flower outdoors IMO/E it dont make sense the calendar date Soo it would be irrelevant .Soo IMO/E 12/12 is not nescessary outdoor to initiate flowering

I have harvested Fugukush Oct 7 n tora bora Oct 10.Soo would that mean they got 3 weeks of flowering and were mature if we follow the 12/12 theory or the date closest to 12/12 which is sept 26.

we are not speaking equatorial sativa ATM :D ,that will be next year .we are tlking about a haze hybrid .

The Nh showed sex about the 20th of july ,started flowering the beinning of september .i chopped Nov 11th soo you can say she flowered around 10 weeks maybe abit longer.i could and would have left her out if no rain was ahead .

i thought other factors such as cold and being in a pot could help finish earlier true or not ?

Again im also curious to here what is thought about a 12/12 being necessary to initiate flowering outdoor ?

according to Wikipedia:

Although it is not in the subtropics and its winters are cold, New York has a humid subtropical climate according to the Köppen climate classification because the coldest month's average temperatures are not low enough for persistent snow cover, at 29.5 °F (−1.4 °C) at JFK and 32.1 °F (0.1 °C) in Central Park. The region's climate is vastly affected by its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. New York City's climate patterns are affected by the Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation, a 70-year-long warming and cooling cycle in the Atlantic that influences the frequency and severity of hurricanes and coastal storms.[9]

Winters are typically cold. Temperatures below 0 °F (−18 °C) only occur about several times per decade on average, but temperatures of 10–20 °F (-12.2–-6.7 °C) are common at the height of typical winters, especially during cold nights. New York winters sometimes feature snowstorms that can paralyze the city with over a foot of snow. However, variation in the climate also occasionally renders winter mild and almost snowless (such as in 1997-98).

Springs are mild, averaging in the 50s °F (10 to 15 °C) in late March to the lower 80s °F (26-28 °C) in early June. The weather is unpredictable and can even bring relatively cool summers (such as in 1992) as an occasional surprise, and snowstorms arriving as late as the second week in April (significant snow after mid-March is fairly rare though). Thunderstorms are common in spring.

Summers in New York are hot and humid, with temperatures commonly exceeding 90 °F (32 °C), although high temperatures above 100 °F (38 °C) are about as rare as subzero (F) lows in winter. Humidity levels are usually quite high in July and August. Thunderstorms are common in summer, and produce even the occasional tornado,[10] although severe weather is more common west of the city in New Jersey because the city's proximity to the ocean usually kills severe thunderstorms before they hit the city. Hurricanes are considered to be a major threat to the area (and especially the Long Island suburbs). While relatively infrequent compared to areas south and east, a direct hit could cause large loss of life and enormous property damage due to the high population in coastal areas.

Autumns are comfortable in New York and similar to spring in temperature. However, the weather is notably unpredictable and travelers are advised to check forecasts and bring several layers of clothing in late fall and in the early spring months (e.g., November, March, April) as temperatures do fluctuate quickly at these times of year.
Precipitation is plentiful and averages at 49.7 in (1,262 mm) annually, with spring being the wettest season and February the driest month. Snow averages at 28.1 in (71.4 cm)

end

I personally would like to see the plant.

To answer about the 12/12 thing indoor vs outdoor.
I think that only applies to indoor growing...
unless you are speaking of Equatorial Sativas ,
which are grown in as close to 12/12 as mother nature can provide.
in Columbia you can, from seed, grow 2 complete mature outdoor field crops of Cannabis, the photoperiod cycles thru 2 yearly 12/12 periods as well as a short spring and fall twice yearly.

12.15-11.45 summer1
12-12 fall 1
11.45-12.15 winter1

six month period ends
cycle begins again south of Equator as sun dips below equator.

so as you can see in a perfect climate with no cold weather and full sun it still takes 6 months to grow Equatorial Sativas and
Haze is made from Equatorial sativas,
even 50% hybrids are questionable in my area which is much closer to the eq than NYC.
Show me this amaizing Haze that grows in the snow.
ok Herb Ima gonna take a breath from this, call me if you decide to post up some photos, because until you do nothing will change I think.

FFS, bigherb must be a lunatic to think he could pull the wool over people's eyes with wild claims about Haze in NYC.

Haze had to be grown UNDER GLASS in Santa Cruz, Central Cali, even then, some didn't finish until december or January.

So for bigherb to claim he can grow Haze outdoors in NYC is pure and utter BULLSHIT. It might grow but it would never flower before the weather killed it, no way, not ever.

Maybe a hybrid with some Haze in might grow outdoors in NYC, something like SSH perhaps, but not Neville's Haze, those are too long.

Most damning of all, he could shut us all up with one single pic of an outdoor Haze flower in NYC but refuses to.

Come on guys, bigherb has zero credibility and it would be better if everyone ignored him.

The real question is can haze flower in august under 13.2 hour daylights.

I highly doubt it. You may get very lucky and find a pheno that would. Indoors pure Haze often won't show sex on 12/12 until 60 or 70 days and then needs 11/13 to really kick into flowering then needs 10/14 to finish it otherwise they will go on and on flowering for 6 months or more and produce leafy crappy buds.

So if the ratio of great plants is 1 in 20 with Haze and let's say the ratio of females from those 1 in 20 that will flower on 13.2 hours is an optimistic 1 in 10 then you quickly realise a Haze worth having that flowered early would be at least 1 in 200. Why do you think we are all growing Haze hybrids rather than the pure thing?

So how many hundreds of plants would bigherb have to run in his mythical NYC garden to find a Haze that finished and was worth having? 1000? 10,000? 100,000?

It's all bullshit and anyone with any sense must be able to see that.

I cant call dont got a number :D jokin

Im not sure why you keep mentioning pure haze ,as i havnt grwon pure haze nor have i spoke of it .If you recall Nevil didnt believe his haze stock was pure haze ,but we know that Nh consist of NL5 n the skunk haze is a 8-10 week strain as oppose to the 12 week or more NH .soo i stil dont see the major disbelief.

brother you tone is quickly changing ,I said it was not growing in the snow an listed dates you asked for which are irrelevant to me .also proving it wasnt snowing nor freezing while my grow took place

i thought this was an interesting post by SAMS

Coop

Not sure if your just trying to make me feel better,or were on the same page .all the info asked for has given more evidence on my side where is gotti's lawyer :D

Ime id say early september or just starting to flower late aug

soo much haze tlk about a hybrid of a hybrid

One thing i can say is if this surprises you all i got a few more for the future ,I guess im not getting any best wishes on my Cg n THH grow this season

Well Bigherb, there you go again trying to dis Seedbank Hazes, more proof that you have probably never grown them. Just stick to mediocrity with your Tom Hill hazes, it seems they are a better match for your personality. In Toms words they are 95% hay. In my words I would say they are about 95% bullshit, just like your NYC haze stories.

haze is often kept on 12h in vegi time ;) crucial nightlenght is half an hour/hour less

when i was younger and doing outdoor stressing, i used to seed as early as december ... the older the plant, the faster it switches between her hormonal states, and some readers sure read it, the plant aint "dumb" its a intelligent design, so to speak, well my findings were that elder plants mature faster (somehow they are in a hassel to finish) compared to plants of the same strain just started in spring for example, you could get something that you could call buds from such elder plants, aswhere their sisters got first pistils in mid dec at 45 degrees and could be only used for cooking (btw those were thai plants), its actuall a finding that fits well with my idea of the ticking dna timemeter ...
like she is grown up and has profunder "contact" to elements of wich she is aware of and can easilier adopt to those and fullfill her cycle, for one thing the plant is nearl a half year older and another stress might be the lightcycle stress bc i didnt pregrow seeds in a cabinet then, they were left in the window and so they cought not only the lenghtening of days, but also the shortage of hours in dec, i really dunno how such lightcycle stressed youngsters behave later on, wasnt ever that intresting lol
not to speak about natures "goodies", there are applications (organic, natural, bio and so on) which promise to induce blooming or faster ripening , like valerian extract or campion extract, for the latter ive seen it work wonders but myself i was unable to reproduce the results ... definately worth trying both ...

so that were just the basics, now to the only possible way:

there is however a tiny theoretical/practical way, slashed it bc when doing on purpose it didnt happen :D practical bc it worked :D

fall, harvest time .. cut off some plants and didnt cared to much about it .. why should i ? :D now the fun part: a few times it did happen that the leftover did a wintersleep and rejuvenated in the means it started growing in spring again, to be precise, those plants had at least 3 harvest windows, her hormons were more than fucked up, the normal spring harvest until may, the second beein in the middle of summer in july, tho this wasnt real budstructure, was a inbetween growing and blooming, and here comes the fun part the 3rd and last time in late august, contrary to mid october like the year before .... and bc u were so positivly surprised, what did u do ? sure the same as the year before, and here is the big but, after her final ripening in late august all her life was out, you can see a leaf here or there in sep or october with normal plants, this 2 year old didnt managed even that

i know that this whole thread is only about false given names, we all know, thats not the point ;) its about an theoretical and practical exeption which can work coincidently, but most likely wont on purpose :)

ganja thought me that nothing is impossible, and while riding on strains names we shouldnt forget the most important factor, the grower :D

and beeing a dedicated grower, let me tell u this, if somebody says its impossible ... what r u gonna do ? exactly, try to make the impossible possible :D

personally i also doubt that one regular season from seed to bud outdoors will work, but with a few tricks n rerouts i just cant say its impossible, and there we have to argue about the hows n whys .... not if black or white but which shade of gray :D

lets throw some fuel into the fire: autohaze :D dont worry didnt meant it seriously ;)

Ditto man!

imho the thai part is the hardest part dunno the south indians tho
but mexi, panama, columbian varieties can be pretty fast - compared to haze

who knows, maybe a pre-holland mexi type haze survived somewhere, we wont know ...
and its irrelevant bc of my understanding of todays haze, its the known 4 way continental cross we all have to work with...

You know Coop,
I don't mind Bigherb, I just think he's full of it.
When he starts piping up about THH and subtly dissing NH in the same post, on a thread I happen to be following, I'm gonna call him out on it. But then I would do the same no matter who was talking that crap.

Its nothing personal against Bigherb, its what he says that is the problem.

You are the one who's been insulting me on this thread Coop.

If someone wants downgrade NH and talk about growing "hay" in the same sentence, they should expect to be called out on it.

If someone talks bullshit, I'll let them know, that's hardly calling someone a "Douche" Coop.

I have a friend who grew my Haze in upstate New York outdoors, by the way; a mid october variety. He had to take it at the end of september cause it was starting to mold and my shit has never molded. It was premature but because it was my shit it was still bomb. That is some 7-8 week shit, and a couple of jokers are trying to tell me about growing cambodians and NHs in New York?

I'm not going to piss off, Sorry Coop.

I only speak out when I know, from personal experience, and I know on this one. I am not talking about some fictitious old man. This is one of my best friends, and I was there and I saw with my own two eyes. I saw the frost coming off of my breath, in the early morning; I spotted the mold, and luckily we nabbed it right there, and it wasn't even october yet, and saved about 75% of the crop and it barely had a red hair on it. It was still coated in crystals and it was still some ultra death, but it was very premature Coop.

How about this: Why don't you and Bigherb both stop spreading misinformation about what can be grown outdoors in New York, and as Hempy said, save some sorry chap from wasting a bunch of his time and money trying to do something that can't be done. I can't imagine someone would be idiotic enough to believe the two of you though.

hey Puday never said anything about 10weeker NH..

NH will take 12 - 16 weeks some even 18 or more..

This is very true. I apologize and will make sure not to mix my words with yours, or anyone else's in the future.

What I meant to and should have said, and in trying to do it quickly inadvertently combined my words with yours ... Was basically that there is a wide array of finishing times when it comes to NH. As you(L33t) mentioned 12-18wk. So that is certainly in my book, a wide range.

Also I felt that there should certainly be 10 and 11 week phenos as well. Granted these are probably not the ones anyone would want to keep from a NH batch ... I would think it is plausible, certainly ...do you agree?

With all this chatter about whether or not someone could pull off a NH grow in NYC climate ... I got to thinking about it, and I thought to myself ... Sure they could.

Granted certain variables and parameters would need to be in line and all the ducks would be in a row but I don't see the reason for bashing BH because he says he pulled it off.

I've thought it through and not only do I think it's possible, I wonder why other seemingly intelligent individuals on this forum haven't figured this out for themselves.

Again sorry Bout that L33t

Also, why would someone who claims to be doing that in NYC post any pics? I don't think it's legal there, only someone with no regards for their security would do that ...

I'm not selling anything.

I just happen to know about growing haze in upstate New York from personal experience, and that is the only reason my mouth is flapping. If we were discussing Canada, or Minnasota, you wouldn't hear me saying a word, because I have no experience there.
