questions for Nevil on afghani and kush lines (the other grail!)

I could be wrong on that thinking of a old SSSC catalog. I've seen some olf Sacred Seeds catalogs, trying to pull some up. Here is the 1st one.
Hi Snow,
If that is the same "catalog" as Im thinking it is, Im not so sure there was any mention of Sacred Seeds in the article it was attached too. If that is indeed the same one which was published in High Times, the author went on to mention that the catalog could be embellished, made up and that the readers have no idea whether he had made it up or not.

I would be interested in seeing some authentic catalogs from Sacred Seeds however, so if you have them, please post them.

Hey Joaquin,

That is a Culitvators Choice catalog.. thanks though. That's Sams co. Sacred Seeds was in California, also some old California seed companies to mention that seem to not have got any credit like Exotica seeds and lowland seeds.
Hi all,
You're right Snow, but if you look in the corner, there is a marijuana seed drawn, with the words Sacred Seeds in it. This topic has came up before in fact, and Sam has in fact admitted that he did not have the intestinal fortitude that Nevil had to sell seeds world wide. So these catalogs were not sent out to the masses the same way Nevils "The Seed Bank Catalogs" were. So misleading to an extent.

I would still be interested in seeing your own Sacred Seed catalogs though snow, as we're talking history here. :)

I was digging last night.. in fact I wasted 2 and half hours trying to find some. I had some scanned but my computer crashed several weeks ago. When I find them I'll post them for sure.

The lines are some of the same as Sacred seeds but Sams co, in ADam.

Thanks

The Maple Leaf came from a guy known to me as Jim Ortega. We traded seeds for a while. Not only did he supply me with Maple Leaf, but also Garlic Bud and Kush 4. The cannabis smoking world owes him a lot.

The Maple Leaf line provided me with a plant that I labeled Afghan T. This plant is the mother of Super/Ultra Skunk and also crossed well with HzC.

Kush 4, I crossed with NL2(which had the same Kush smell) and this Kush Hybrid is the foundation of todays Kush lines.

Garlic bud has also made it's presence felt and is part of todays super yielders.

Let me say one more thing about ML AfgT. This plant had exactly the same smell as Sams best SK1 but more so. It is the true Skunk archetype. I do not believe for one N.Y. minute that Afghani#1 is behind the SK1, which IMO gives credence to the Mendecino Joe story about SK1.

The world owes you a big Thank You Jim!
Let me be the first to say that I appreciate the work that you have done.
N.

Thank you Nevil,

Thank you for stating history as many have speculated on these things regarding your lines and others. Its great to know how some of these lines came about. Many many thanks to you and your great love of cannabis and all the work you have done over the years.

Snow

som interesting info here ,that is most appreciate once again some straightening of the truth on history as we kno it

i always remember the name maple leaf wilson in the talk of MLI soo its great to hear the true source,it would be great to see this kush 4 and many of these other pure afghani's from the 70's the (pre invasion) strains from cali .

the name kush has become bastardized as many others ,with most available seed lines today are dervived from the chem line which actually isnt a true kush soo it would be a treat to taste true kush i believe ,REEFERMAN has stated the charles kush i believe from the seed bank. is the line many kush strains come from such as his pink kush but as for the offerings im only familiar wit hindu kush which has been reported as nothin special

one of the best strains ive come across thats name has also been bastardized is purple kush i came across a batch once an then only tasted a small sample of this bud once after, although many many hav claimed and still claim to hav PK becaz its a kush that purpled LOL, i believe this was thee original and this is the info i was given from bluebeard wen i was a newbie

in early 80's it was a staple that some folks I knew in the Panther Gap area of southern Humby county tended along with a 12th generation Chilean indica that we nic'ed the "Brain Weed".....supposed origin of PK was a Vet bring back who resided outside of Petrolia and was also responsible for a pure Burmese line

Smoking some so- called Nepal hash right now (I'm in holland). Soft, black, perfumey, and smooth as velvet balanced high. I always assumed that probably Nepal hash could be from anywhere, but you guys are making me think it may really be Nepalese. I love it.

Bigherb, reminds me of your frankincense search. This stuff is some heavy perfume, but i am not sure if i can say frankincense, sandalwood more i guess

masonjar

thanks for thinking of me my brother

your find sounds amazing right up my alley ,the trait from napal is interesting ,im curious is this from private stock or available in a particular shop if soo ill keep it in my notes for my next visit
around my way hash is a treat not heavily available, but its exspensive when the high quality stuff rolls in ,although my friend is quite generous and puts excessive amounts in our L wen we do com across it the days are very relaxing to say the least

all I will say is I can't help but notice the striking similarity between the signature on this Sam's seedpack..with Shanti's signature  Sam is behind all this ! :D

It may have been something that I made.
The Maple Leaf cultivar AfgT had a full sister, AfgS. She was a fruitier counterpart to AfgT.
AfgSxSK1 was narcotically strong. I remember a few occasions that as group of people smoking it would suddenly get hit with a wave of warmth and then look at me with suspicion. I was inspired to cross this with the NL2xKush4, because I could detect a hint of commonality in the phenotypes. I never did find out how that panned out.

We have the Maple Leaf cultivar AfgT seeds. They are several years, old but sprout consistantly. That stuff headrushes like Sour Diesel or Headband. Very Unique flavor

I too am dying to hear about the origins of Ortega. Also a quick question for Nev, and some of the Old Timers.

How good was Williams Wonder of back in the day? I have only seen Reeferman, and BCSeed Co selling it now days. I am not confident in either company, but have been Wondering about this strain for many years. Any reviews from you guys would help a ton! It was said to be a good spicy Afghan right?

Hi Bob
I can't really tell you about WW. SSSC sold those. I know that they started off with early Dutch varieties. WW was one of those I think.
N.

and i have the first question namely, what exactly is ortega? at some point in time i recall an afghan hashplant in cali that was unruly as hell but contained extreme potency in what little bud she offered up and this plant was later crossed to nl by a different party in oregon as the original cali finders had enough of her. another bit of history is that ortega is simply a nl #??? and one final question if i may; who is jim ortega and what does he have to say on this subject? peace-biteme
