LB's 2024 outdoor container grow

Thank you! Not quite sure what is going on, not sure I ever heard of it. From what I can tell so far it seems to affect roots, stalks, branches, maybe from infected soil. While I can't rule it out yet I do have to ask why just 2 tops
and not the whole plant. Same soil was used for all plants. Why aren't they all infected? Or are they? I guess there is also fusarium wilt. I guess you get that from open cuts and wounds that you did not cover with scotch tape or vaseline. As far as stalk and root rot goes fusarium looks like this - not my plant.

The stalk and branches on my plant look like this which looks normal to me.

The branch where the buds were from. It was where the plant was topped. Cut a couple days ago so unsure what the color was then.

I cut the stalk open and it looks fine to me.

@Swifty, @musashi, would you smoke these buds knowing what you know, and by their looks? Looks good enough to smoke!

The bud looks very sedating! :)

Seems like a lot of trichomes to throw away! Hate to do all this work for nothing as it sure looks good. So many trichomes it almost looks like caviar! lol

Nothing wrong with smoking the flowers from that branch Longball.
My experience with fusarium is that an infection is usually local on a branch and it infects the surrounding tissue.
From this moment on the flow of nutrients and sap is hindered and the branch starts to die of.
Hence the yellowing and wilting of the leaves in first stages.

If I spot this early it looks like a pale stain on the branch that should not be there, in later stages it grows a darker grey mold there (looks like a short pile carpet).

Pic below is how it looks in the later stage of infection, notice the paler outer lines of the infection.
That is what I look for.
This can happen at the main stem but also on the branches. Everything before the infection stays green, after the infection it starts to die off.

Never had this indoor, always outdoors.

Hope it helps.

Hi @Fish :)

Thanks for the reply. I did cut the branch off and covered the wound with vaseline. I'll keep a good eye on this plant.

Hi @Swifty! :)

Thanks for the pic. I wouldn't be surprised if it looked like that in time. I think I caught it very early. The rest of the plant looks like this - but I'ma keep a close eye on it. Tomorrow is plant inspection/caterpillar hunting day with Bronson so we'll check everything extra good. I see a dying yellow leaf top center so we'll check every inch of stalk/branch on that one. Again, thanks so much for your help, Swifty! (y)

No problem Longball, I hope you don't see it but if you do H2O2 can help to delay it.
It will brake through in the end but it could buy you an extra week.

That really is an incredible good looking plant you got.

Yeah, basically they die of thirst. I am cautious based on the degree of infection but typically the only thing I don’t smoke for certain is black mold. For the respiratory challenged, I would avoid. As @Fish says, bubble is an alternative. Master Gardener classes taught the use of isopropyl. I use 90%. Isolate and take precaution to prevent spreading.

Plants are chugging along. Nothing exciting to report - much like watching grass grow.

Unknown - most likely either Early Queen or Afghan Haze as that is pretty much what I am growing.

Just water them a little bit most days and so far a pretty easy grow for outdoors.

Critical Kush - hard to take pictures of because it is just leaves and white buttons.

Afghan Haze #2 - very photogenic plants with lots of nice buds. I'm starting to like them as much as the caterpillars do. The buds are too nice to spray so it is daily hand-to-hand combat with the caterpillars for ownership of these plants.

The rest of the pics are from this same Afghan Haze #2 plant.

Amazing plants and photography Longball!

Your Afghan Hazes are pretty well developped I see, do you think that you will be able to flower them entirely?
It is probably already getting cold?:(

Nice work.:)

Thanks, @Swifty! I've been working hard on growing and photography. Actually, you've been a great inspiration to me. I see your plants and photos and say I got to do that too! So keep up the great work! :)

Well, I didn't post my grow for about a month as I was bed-ridden a good percent of that time. All pictures are about one month behind, not real time. Last night it went down to 30F/-1C. Colder than a witches t*t. I hope maybe I can get them to finish in the garage. This is pretty close to the coldest I've grown so it's kind of day-to-day. I hope these Afghan Haze finish as they are my favorite MNS plants I've grown so far.
Caterpillars love them too!.

Well I feel the same about you and the other members here Longball.😊
That is wat makes this place great for me, a lot of sharing members here and no big ego's.
I hope this never changes!

Good to see that you are better now and your plants are thriving.
Curious to see if you can pull it off, I bet you can.😎

Greetings.

Looking great, Longball. BTW, what type of camera do you use? I suspect you can get away with shrinking your photos down to a 100kb size or less, due to the quality of your camera. When I reduce my Android photos down to that size, I find they lose detail and sharpness. I don't ever see myself spending $2k, or even $1.5k, on a top of the line smartphone, just for a better camera. I'd much rather put that money into a real camera. - FF

Thanks, @Freedom_Fighter! :D

Camera quality has less to do with getting nice smaller size pictures than you may think. You need a decent picture to start and most camera's ever built are capable of taking a decent picture. Think back from childhood until now, growing up, birthdays, vacations, bet you saw some pretty nice pictures taken with some pretty 'shitty' camera's!?

So you need a decent picture to start. Software isn't magic. Start with a shitty picture and you end up with a smaller shitty picture. The biggest mistake I see is people using 'resize' software. It is the worst possible thing you can do to make a picture smaller. For the time being it is used until something shittier comes along that is cheaper and easier. Cheaper and easier - always our guiding lights.

If you want a picture that looks almost exactly like your picture you need to 'compress' it, not 'resize' it. I can hardly tell the difference between my 28mb original picture and my 110kb compressed picture. Compression can only reduce your picture almost exactly - there is no magic that makes it better. The second mistake I see is the type of compression chosen. Most times your choices are between lossey and lossless. They are self explanatory. Lossey compression you lose data and the picture is not as nice. Losslless means no data is lost. An algorithm is used that compresses the data to a smaller size without losing data. Lossless compression is used on CD's to allow the file to fit on the small CD, otherwise only one song per CD. On CD's it is called FLAC files - high quality Free Lossless Audio Codec. Not sure on camera's as I'm still new at this game.

My suggestion would be to Google 'best compression software for photographs'. Test drive a few. I don't have a smartphone so can't help you there. One of them may be friendlier to smartphones? I seem to recall phone people using 'lit photo'. Most of those photos are @ 1.5mb I think.

In summary - look for lossless compression software. Test drive a few. While they may say lossless your mileage will vary greatly.

Holly mighty LongBalls and the heaven on earth 🫡🌻🥋🤩how I have missed that master piece of your work 🤩🙏 this One Piece has took my mind completely now you know im secretly watching 👀👌👍

Thank ya matey! 🙏 You have a bit to do with it. After seeing your Kalamata Red I knew I had to up my game. Your other grows are quite amazing too! As we both sail the Seven Seas under the same flag, 🏴‍☠️🗡️🍊, I knew I either had to up my game or be keelhauled by the crew. Thanks, I appreciate the tips. Definitely will try out a few. I have one of the cheapest Samsung Smartphones available. Unless I'm using it wrong, or haven't set it up right, I'm not getting your camera photo quality. That's what I need to fix ultimately. Until then, I need to figure out which software provides the best quality, from what I'm starting out with. Cheers! - FF
