On the African weed thing, I must have seen hundred of kilos of the stuff, it varied a lot from stuff that barely worked to stuff that had me laid on the floor with a bass bin either side of my head chilling to deep dub.
There's a simple story behind how African weed began to flow into the UK, there is a guy from Liverpool, I can't lay my hands on my notes on this now so I can't be precise on dates and names but I will look for the notes.
Anyways, this Scouser, a black fella called Michael Showers (I think) wa a fairly bigtime gangster and in the 70s he went back to West Africa (Ghana I think) to see family and he set up a smuggling route bringing tons of African weed into Liverpool docks, it was this family conenction and the control of the docks that allowed this trade to flourish. A lot of what they brought in was crap, the market wasn't discerning, weed was scarce so even crap made them a huge profit.
But it wasn't all crap, there was even some cobs like miniature Malawi cobs, that was the stuff that had me laid on the floor listening to Lee Perry records.
Anyways, I can only speak for the north of England but we had so much African weed in the 80s and 90s here and the West African stuff grew into decent plants, most people my age or older got their start planting seeds from African import, I know some people still hold clones from old African imports.
I don't think it's unusual to see an earlier plant pop out of an African line, the African genepool is a proper mish-mash and short, fast individuals tend to pop out of a lot of Central African lines, a good example is the Banghi and Angola Roja from La Mano Negra and the Ethiopian Highland from African Seeds. There is a short, fast (9-10 weeks indoors) pheno of Ethiopian Highland that pops out maybe 1 in 100 and it is mindblowing, looks like a mini xmas tree and is, I suspect a recessive pheno of something from the Middle East brought to East Africa through the Arab trade.
Hi BH.......Yeah Nev said this could make some interesting thoughts on the origin of haze

We have just put the first lot of CG out to sex out and will get the next lot started soon. If there is a good stud we will do a cross.
There's not much variation at all in that Colombian line and the males and females look identical in veg so I doubt there will be much difference between the males you find. One variation that is still there is stem and petiole colouration, some are pretty purple on the stems and petioles, others stay green.
We had a Purple Mexican Thai male show under 24hrs of light and a Purple Afghani Thai female show after only 3 days outside.....any thoughts on this ???
Hmm, not seen that behaviour myself, the one that showed sex 3 days after going outside must be a heavily Afghan leaning pheno, the Afghan line I took the male parent from would try to flower on 15-16 hours of light I found.
I have seen plenty of males that showed under 24hrs of light over the years, often indicas but not always, out of the half dozen Purple Thai I just ran I had three males and three females, none showed sex until at least 20+ days of 12/12, could be a recessive Afghan dom male you found? The Mexican part of that cross came from really old seeds and we only got females and one of those grew male balls so I know that line had an intersex issue, the Purple Thai definitely doesn't so I hoped it would be a good line to cross to the Mexican. Keep an eye out for spurioys flowers on those though, the Mexican ones will be a brighter green colour in the foliage I expect as the Mexican parent was and the Purple Thai has darker foliage from the Afghan in it.
