Grail: The Ultimate Haze Hybrid

Hi there Moon
While as I'm interested in the genetics of which you speak, a five year breeding plan is probably not the most direct route. In any case, inbreeding Haze does not give consistant results (at least in the short term).

I've been smoking stuff with PNG in it lately, I thought it was Thai and not the sweet stuff. PNG is new to me and I'm excited about what remains to be discovered. I hear talk of an expedition. These are men after my own heart. Smoking a chillum with the cannibals (the whole cannibal thing is probably exaggerated anyway). I hope they film noteworthy events.

Hi m8, i hear you, we arent getting any younger lol. I was more thinking very stable grail seedline, where as a nh outcross would throw some extremely graily phenotypical expressions = grail plants in a shorter time frame = grail smoke in all our lungs sooner( or vapor or edibles if thats ppls thing).
The png i think could be a contendor for the outcross, shanti might be able to help there aswell. Have you thought of a grail collection so to speak, eg,
nh x mm = grail 1
nh x png = grail 2
nh x old duck = grail 3
nh x afhgan = grail 4
nh x kangas mexican grail 5
nh x thai grail 6
nh x zoid or even pure chinese indica for kicks and re level ones head on a sunday after a week of those above lol.
Progeny testing could then be carried out in the community and the favored crosses honed in on and reproduced via the p1s, but also a series of grails would have a grail plant for every taste and palette imaginable. I would imagine certain crosses would be favored and be thought of as more "the grail" over time, but a series would give a diverse range of grail plants asap.
As you can guess im pretty high and rambling, but thats half the process :)
much respect all

This is where I think things are going, but there are a lot more variations to consider, based on the pledges ppl have made. We'll need help testing, with maybe a judging of the cream of the crop. It sounds like fun to me.

Hi m8, i just used those varieties and numbers as examples of course( very good examples lol). I now see the path you will take to get there and if i find something i feel worthy will submit it for testing. Im sure yall will have a ball testing and selecting, the fruit is in the journey, not the destination :)

I dont know about the MM x NH as I said once before I think this would get the name like Nev-A-Finish. I will have more of a idea once they both start flowering and finishing.
Maybe MMxNHxNL, but the OaxacanxNH is a real possibility.

It's always on my mind.
In my life I've learned a few things about the mechanism of creation.
First and foremost, "hold the vision in your minds eye". Put all of your senses into it.
Imagine how it looks. Get into the fine detail. Make the visual image as real as you can.
Imagine how it smells and tastes. Compare it to other similar things and imagine how it could be better. Imagine how it makes you feel, this is really important. Fill the idea with positive intent. Imagine the joy of sharing.
The wheels of the universe have already started turning. Grease the wheels, clear the path, act on the synchronistic opportunities that magically appear. Act. Act. Act.
Share your vision. Allow others to feel your excitement. A vision shared is a vision magnified. It's OUR VISION. Know that it will/has already happened. It's merely a question of time. When you know this, you can relax. Nature abhors a vacuum.
Oh! I nearly forgot. Be grateful. Your dreams are coming true, why wouldn't you be.

Thank you nevil for posting us your thoughts/visions/dreams...there is no other forum i would rather be a part of.....I once grew/smoked a thai x cambodian x burmese strain that i would love to cross to a nevilles haze male (I have 2 packs yet to be popped) It was a wiley very bendable vigorous 14+ week sativa that smelled and tasted of mangos. Had a clear, energetic , euphoric/psychedelic high that felt like you were floating with a lifting feeling in the shoulders and back. Unfortunately i did not clone but did cross it with a male of the same seed line so i still have a chance for this vision. I am currently busy with other "projects" i will share at a later time...

Looks like the Grail will be here in time for the allignment of the Galaxy.

Timothy Leary said visualizing is your existence. The prankksters would visualize that cops could not see them as they blasted through the country at 80 -90 mph passing radar traps. It worked. I use it now passed a CHP at 95 and he did no see me.

Our reality is our minds and our imaginations. Period. IMO.

I just stumbled across this thread for the first time. This is possibly a "Grail Thread" with all of the knowledge being kicked back and forth. It'll be wonderful to see what comes of this. I'm going to be doing some work with the NYCHaze/Frankie very soon.. I've never grown it but I've often been told it's very similar to Mango Haze in its power. I must say I love a haze... i only wish the rest of california would get off of the OG/Chem/Diesel kick and see the light.

Hi Nev et al! ;]
A HolyGrailHaze does sound like the 'Mother' of all stash to me and if you don't see In-crossing NH to other diff Haze genetics as the way forward(I tend to agree as Haze to Haze has never worked to well for me bcos IME they lose vigour massively from one gen to the next) I have a few suggestions to bring to the table....Although I have to say that if I still had the your '5Haze that I had til the mid '90's I would probly say that I had 'The Grail' already back then thanks to you mate. She was an amazing Line and bar the fact I could never sleep after smoking her she was a near-perfect Hybrid for me.
My recommendations for some fresh Input genetics would be 'Transkei Lime Greens' from up in the mountains in SA(I am pretty confident of re-aquiring her in the coming year,as I am still in contact with a family in the area I collected it b4 in the early '90's). She's a very special Sativa with a very cerebral, very inspiring, talkative buzz and not paranoid like Durban can be-but equally distinctive in taste and effect. She grows med to tall and blooms from 12-17wks but is a decent producer of very, very sticky Cola's and had the biggest trichome heads of any African Sativa I've seen. The tastes and smells were complex but usually Limey and Meaty/musky in taste and the nose similar but with a sort of Elderflower/coriander top note as well from the best plants.
I crossed her with some Hazes in the mid 90's and the results were really special IMHO(pips were stolen by assholes!!) and she blended amazingly with Adams SAGE too....
My other suggestion would be a Sativa I just collected from Pernambuco in Brazil(only 40 seeds unfortunately but I should be able to get some more). Shes a skinny-leaf,thinly branched but long, dense budded type Sativa with sort of stacked calyxes and an avg yield-apparently from Colombia originally! She has the Spiciest taste and aroma I've smoked(and the buds weren't grown or cured that well TBH)that I can only describe as sort of Curry and Haze with a tad of sweet. The high was really social but intense and soaring if you hammer it and it was a real munchies strain also.
I will let y'all know how I get on with the seeds, gonna plant them in a week or 2 with some other Brasilian,Carribean and SEAsian Sativa's.
Luck and Light ;)

coop for the last five years i've been working with nl x ww x bb. last year i crossed one of my nl x ww x bb female with an arkansas skunk male. i also have a nl x ww cross.

Tell us about this one Coop.
N.

Chimera Recently released this cross - it's on my to get list. Right now we're working with some Michoacn, COlumbian Gold, Columbian Black, and working on trying to pul the different egenetics of CLockwork Orange out by several different methods, as it's show to have extremely haze characteristics with indica type leaves. That's one, Nevil, if you haven't checke dit out, is a must see, It changed the Southern California medical scene on some man levels. People were epxeriencing their first "haze" high from a plant that for all purposes has massive indica looking leaves (with serrations My next step woth this plant was to cross it to a Neville's Sknk father, which I did and has pushed out some amazing mind nummbing results. I also want to push it to the Mango Haze and Nevil;s Haze and do some selection to see how the genetics spread out after the cross. I have no doubt that the pacl of "Alaskan Ice" that the progonal CLockwork Orange seed came out from was neither "White Widow nor Haaze" It was purchased severa;l several years ago, I believe before shanti had even left Greenhouse. I was hoping Shantibab or Nevil could chime in and let me know what they think might the original Progenitors to this amazingly potent and medically relevant and necessary staring that Jah bless me with, Clockwork orange.

Shanitbaba knew me at the beginng on my San Diego Urban Growers Society days and was kind enough to stay in touch with me even after I had proved to be one of the most annoying newbs when it came to breeding and asking questions about why SHanti didn't have a feminmized line. SO I thank him for being able to see past the obvious stupidity in me and thanks agai for giving me the time that I needed and help along the way to get to where I am now. You're a wonderful human being and I hope to be able to return that kindness in full.

Anyway, here's some pictures of the Clockwork Orange in veg - not that it has the crinkle leaf pattern on ALL plants, cuttuings, etc, but when crossed to another strainsam, the leaf curling only happens to a select few. We chose to keep the plant with the leaf deformities and not use the other females we had because the bud on out deformed leaf plants was almost twice as potent as the scissor/finger Hash from the mother that has no ofdd leaf traits. In one word it was a freakily potent mutant, the strongest to this day that I have grown or encountered. I've never been able to afford the THC testing, so I can't say it's a world record or anything but I grow well over 400 different strains a year and she's always top for production and potency. We also have sn S1 we like that had the same growth patterns of the original CO mother, however its scent is a fine range of coffees and has no crinkled leaf pattern, a little less yield as well.

Anyway, please understand this isn't an advertisement, as much as it is me taking a chace with the greatest minds ever assembled into one area that might be able to give me informatopn about a plabt that has become the center of all of my studies. We've been woring (jen and myself) to find a plant through selection that has all potency of the mother, the smell of Smart Alex, an the growth traits of the original mother (minus the leaf crinkle)

I feel if i knew more about its makeup I'D BE TICKLED THREE SHADES OF PINK. Thanks to all who are willing to help. It's been an honour even getting to read you words

arkansas still grow so great sativas...but g-13 to me wasnt as great as g-4. trying to fine a haze plant that is truly haze is gonna be hard becuz the ones that have it isnt gonna tell u they have it if ur not apart of dey circle. i've been lucky 2 be apart of a circle of real gene pool of strains of the past. alot of these strains i see ppl say are dead or clone only and i jus laugh.
my top 5:1.da real early pearl 2.arkansas sk 3.lemon thai 4.lambsbread/haze 5. 78'colombian gold.

different combinations

Are all of the potential Grail hybrids going to be [something] x NH? I was wondering if consideration has been given to crossing some potential suitors from these selected strains to the NL5/HzA mother of NH and then combining a selection from that mating to the HzC male? Would this decrease the frequency of 'catpiss' phenos? I seem to recall you mentioned not being interested in such phenos.

Also, has the NH male already been selected? Or are there characteristics that stick in one's mind that would make it easy to find once the hunt is on? With all the talk focusing on the mate of the NH and not the selected NH male itself, I got the impression that the NH male was already in wait.

Thanks
ESS

Maybe this is a stupid question but I've been known to ask one or two or many. I've read the whole thread but don't really understand what's wrong with the catpiss pheno. I've heard other people elsewhere say this is desirable. What specifically is wrong with the catpiss other than it smells like cat piss which doesn't sound pleasurable.

I dont know what others say but I love catpiss lol

actually if you see a lot of expression in the population then its a sign of inbreeding of HzC male as Nevil explained. Which is not desireable as you ideally want to explore a wider range of haze expression combinations to select from..
With SSH for example, a lot of plants have the catpiss smell and its due to HzC coming from both parents.

Did someone say Catpiss,
heres a mates Catpiss thai pheno,
came from some seed ot of a brick of thai buddah back in the 70's,
reaked of catpiss,
when smoaked tasted like lemon citrus,
was a creapper caught a few people out,
kinda racey, paranoia inducing.
made a few crew sweat :D

Hi ESS, Seems like Nevil has missed this one, so I can fill you in a little bit.

At the moment the NH male hasnt been selected yet as it has to be sourced from old NH seed stock.
Hempy has put up a few pics of some old NH that he has got started, but as yet they are not sexed.
It is also possible that the male will come from another source and the Female will be a NH, but again it will be from old stock.
Only Nevils nose knows....so only he can tell what will be used of the NH:D
