Hello, all. I hope everyone finds themselves, well. After months without smoking any haze, I decided yesterday that it had become time to dip into my stash. I chose SSH#8 because I've only three phenos left, and this particular jar was already down to three nugs. Time to finish her off!
Firstly, this was the only girl out the entire straw I popped, who had more of an indica nug style. Instead of the long running flowers on the other girls, #8's flowers grew like little triangles. All of the other girls began to foxtail when the temps and humidity became extreme. Not SSH#8, she retained the same flower structure throughout her entire growth. Unfortunately, I placed far too much stress upon my gals. Ok, I fucked up every rule of growing in the book!

This caused most of the girls to show at least a few nanners. Again, SSH#8 took the abuse in strides and refused to herm, no matter the stress I threw at her.
After harvest I was a bit less impressed by SSH#8. Though her density and nug structure gave her an edge, appeal wise, over her sisters. I found post-harvest that the lower half hadn't performed like I'd hoped. Don't blame the poor girl, almost every plant in that tent underperformed yield and density wise. But I hadn't pruned the plants like they needed, and the growing environment had been far from ideal, along with the light being too far away. In all honesty, nearly all of the various SSH phenos had better nug density than the Medicine Man, further down the plant. I Think this is because of the open structure and very little leaf matter of the SSH vs the MM. SSH#8 was an outlier and bushier than the other phenos, a sort of hybrid growth wise between SSH and MM. The MM were all very bushy with crazy amounts of leaves. Verses the SSH, which had far less leaf matter and nodes spaced plenty apart, receiving more lumens. I think had I kept the light closer to the tops the SSH#8 could have performed very well, yield wise. Mind you, I was happy with what I got, it was just less than I expected.
Anyways, after that crazy stoned tangent, I think I should start a new paragraph, lol. Most of the mid-canopy nugs kept the triangular look. These flowers hold acceptable density for a sativa dom hybrid. Unfortunately, the smell isn't very strong, and it doesn't smell much like it did while it was growing, post-harvest. The smoke was initially smooth enough, but there was an edge of anxiety to it which would make me bloat up. Last time I smoked this pheno, was several months ago when I had some friends over.
Fast forward to today, and these three nugs have been curing for roughly eight months. Wow has the cure helped bring out the best this flower has to offer. I only wish I'd let it sit a few months longer, before deciding it was time to finish off the jar. Eight months has done wonders with cleaning up the aroma and flavor. Unlike before, when she smelled green and muddied, she now has a faint smell of citrus. Still, not much flavor, but very smooth with a light mentholated sensation on the back of the palate, after exhale.
After loading the steamroller, I take a hit but go back for another before exhaling. I want a good, first hit. Within 20-30 seconds, a smile is stretched across my face which easily reaches my eyes. As my stress melts away, I can actually breathe easier. This stands out to me since before the cure, she'd often make me bloat and have a harder time catching my breadth. Almost immediately I feel my hip settle into place and my sciatic improves.
I notice several minutes after my initial puff, that I can smell and taste the aroma of the SSH through my nose as I inhale. The scent as I go about, is actually stronger than when I smoked. Much more noticeable than when I took my single hit.
I can still feel the tenderness and tightness in the middle of my back, but my left hip is much better. I don't notice it as much and can comfortably move around. Along, with a light buzz of energy in my body and each step.
It takes a good 15-20 minutes of reveling in my music as I cheerfully take care of tasks in my home, before my back pain and sciatic begins to flare back up. With each step, I can feel my left hip with increasing volume.
My second hit brings along more flavor. I can taste Berrgamot, lingering on my palate with something a bit deeper. Hmm, it's not totally incense I taste on the back of my palate, but it reminds me of it. The smile is plastered back onto my face and surprise, I'm able to pop my back a bit when I twist. Ahh, relief! I find that I can stretch down a bit further, though my back is still tender. After stretching for a few brief seconds, a wonderful sensation begins to shimmer in my lower back. I can't tell if it's the weed, the blood flow, what it is. It's the weed!
Aside from easing tension and stress, loosening up my muscles a bit. I feel like most of the pain relief from this flower is its ability to raise one's spirits and let its user immerse themselves in their projects. It brings me into the moment, allowing me to shift focus from the pain. It is still there, but in the background. More than anything, this weed makes you happy!
I'm happy with this gal. She performed nicely. I hope to find an amped up version of her in my next straw, whenever that happens. lol.
Enjoy.
