FFS, 7 pages of arguing in one day, this thread plumbs new lows...
My opinion is that if it weren't for Nevil, Haze may have been lost. In fact Nevil has done more for Haze than anyone else i can think of. That's not me kissing arse, just stating a fact because he has worked with it longer than any other breeder I can think of.
Amen.
What SamS lying? Not possible
Snigger...and why they flower in 12 weeks like any other 50% Haze hybrid.
The fact is pure sats take longer to flower than reports of TH Haze indicate. Its simply not possible to fully flower a sat in that time. That may not resonate with your experience in a Northern European cupboard. But that's how it is.
The only thing pure about TH Hz is the fact that the notion that its pure - is 100% pure unadulterated bunkum. Its a point that may be easily overlooked by the novices at IC, but on this forum we're gonna call it BS - cos that's manifestly what it is.
Not to say its not a top smoke, like I said to Tom - 1 in 20 of any 50% Haze hybrid can seem like the best in the world - just cut the BS already.
Speaking as one who has a great deal of experience of flowering sats in a northern european cupboard, I can tell you that pure sats that are worthwhile in such a setup are very few and far between. However, hybridising them then picking out the sat dom phenos can give you some stunning plants indeed, but they still take ages.
Great example, the Thai I grew a few years back wasn't anywhere near done at 24 weeks and produced about 5g of calyxes on a huge 4ft tall 3ft wide plant. Mind-blowing 5g but still, 5g in 6 months? Even hempy ain't mad enough to grow like that!
So I crossed it to a Purple Afghan male and I have some of the f1s flowering out, the most Thai dom one is at 18 weeks and needs another month.
So how does TH get a 12 week pure Haze? He doesn't, quite simply, just cannot be pure.
I've grown a few of the types that are said to be in Haze - Highland Oaxacan Gold, Colombian Gold, Thais etc.
The Oaxacan is the quickest, takes 16 weeks indoors from when the first flowers appear. The Colombian is a couple of weeks longer. Thais are at least 20 weeks to even be smokeable, longer to finish, if they ever do finish.
Remember that Sam said that pure Haze would only finish under glass in Santa Cruz, so if it needed to be grown under glass at 34N then how does TH get it to finish in 12 weeks indoors?
I'm not saying anyone is lying but something doesn't add up. Just look at a map and the latitudes that Thailand, South India and Colombia are located - in the equatorial regions so the plants from those places will have equatorial flowering cycles, even if you add in some Mexican blood that finishes a couple of months earlier because it's from a few degrees further away from the equator you're still looking at many months of flowering not 12 weeks.
