Shanti's Ortega VS Sensi Seeds Northern Lights

I wonder if others growing this line are experiencing stress/herm/intersex related issues as well?

Looking forward to future updates :)

To answer your ? Medicine man had issues as well with a few nanners. He did not elaborate on what he thinks may have caused them. Other than that I have yet to see any other additional threads detailing Ortega.

You obviously are very passionate about cannabis and cannabis forums. Probably as much or more than anyone else around. It's just sometimes you come across as the be all and end all of everything cannabis related. I know your knowledgable on cannabis but I think there are times you need to be more focused on teaching and learning rather than forcing your point.

Hi Resin,
I did get a chance to check out Medicine Man's Ortega recently, quite nice plants overall without question. Other than some similar issues, they are very nice plants overall and look to have a good environment to flourish in. Interesting to compare the two together, looks like we're dealing with some real winners!

Hi Zig :)
I think if you look close, you will see you may have overlooked the below comment which would seem pretty self evident. So yes, some real winners...
Other than some similar issues
Other than suggesting Shanti would release a herm proned line to the public, which I have my doubts on, do you have any other idea's which may explain things on this limited amount of reports?

there has been so much feuding on this forum lately that i've honestly begun to question the integrity of many ppl...disagreements are fine and everyone here tends to be civil, so there were nanners on a few plants, happens to the best of us occasionally...whether personal problems or strain related, lets stick to caring for one another rather than fighting...there's no hype here at MNS, Shanti is the world's top breeder (most agree he's in the top 5 of all time), i've been more than satisfied with every strain i've tried and think thats why we have so many new ppl on the forum..peace and love

DTBH I hear what saying about the fueding and fighting. I appreciate it but I dong think this is to that extent. Call it constructive criticism with a hint of sarcasm and double meanings on both parts. Not to speak for Jesse but I'm sure he and I have respect for all members and each other. I don't take anything good or bad personally that's written on this site. It's anonymous for the most part.

I'm just saying tell the truth don't hype things up.
Zig,
I was able to demonstrate, quite readily, that you had skipped over an important piece of my statements, which was key to the entire statement itself. Instead of admitting that you may have overlooked the quote I provided in question, you've moved on to suggesting Im not telling the truth now? The entire premise of your argument was that the plants were not "real winners" due to your perceived Herm issues, which was obviously a statement inherently dependant on the absense of the quote I provided, which you conveniently overlooked in your rush to suggest Shanti would put a herm product on the market. Either your trolling (likely), or you have a problem admitting you're wrong (also likely). I do not appreciate your suggestions otherwise.

Translation: You regret trolling the thread, considering you clearly skipped over my statement, which made your original comment obsolete. What words did I twist Zig? That you were suggesting Shanti would put a herm variety on the market?

Now where would I get such a idea? ;) And Im twisting your words? lol, please! The only twisting happening here, is you in your seat, as I pick to pieces your entire post for your poor attempts at trolling. The "articles" you're mentioning are in fact on the topic of Feminized Seed, not varieties bred in a traditional manner such as the MNS Ortega. Nice try, but clearly you've failed in this respect as well. For a member who has been here as long as you have, Im surprised with Example 3 in particular, because it readily shows your lack of understanding of "herm" lines to begin with. "Breeders who have them show up in their lines?" Its almost as if you dont realize 98% of the lines on the market, from any company, can indeed be stressed to the point to throw some "nanners" out. Its not necassarily a mark of bad breeding, but a fact of life, that when stressed, plants will show a predisposition to activate a survival mechanism inherent to the plant itself, in order to assure preservation. Its almost as if you're sole goal was to trash MNS, while in the process of trolling. Yet its obviously went horribly wrong for you lol.

Hi resin,
If you used the same plants, from the same grow room which you admit had environmental issues, Im afraid that once stressed, they are stressed for good. So its not surprising they had the same issues in that respect. Had you used clones from the same plants, and had them herm again, that may be a different story.

I say this, because from the below quote I get the impression, as you mentioned above with them being the same plants, that this was indeed the case.

I'll go into more detail with pics in a few days but I am pretty sure it was heat that caused this. I pm'd shanti to see if any type of stress caused ortega to hermie more than others. Over the few weeks I'll be watching them all carefully.
H&C. It's far from over. The top 12 inches of the plants were unaffected. As of now the yield is of course going to lower but I'm not worried. The lower branches had only tiny popcorn like buds. If you could even call them that. I am continuing to flower them out.
http://www.mrnice.nl/forum/showpost.php?p=57841&postcount=64

Which is also supported by the fact that on the 17th of last month, you posted this:
I am building a new room that should be finished in the next week or two. Most of the second round will be flowered in there under a 600w hps.

And considering you posted on the 26th about your 2nd round with the plants, though they were already in flower, it seems that indeed you did use the same plants, not clones of the same plants, in your second room. And knowing it takes some time for the on set of flower to begin, things just dont add up right with any other estimation other than what you previously posted about using the same plants.

http://www.mrnice.nl/forum/showpost.php?p=58934&postcount=73

So using the same stressed plants, even in a new room, is not going to yield plants which are not stressed after previously being under the same conditions. I thought the entire story sounded a little strange, as with the dates given, Its hard to believe new plants would get the size that you've posted for round 2, at the stage of flowering that they are at, and herm so quickly consider the dates posted in relation to where we are today of Sept. 11th. So I would recommend growing the Ortega's from seed again, in your new grow room, before suggesting that they hermed a second time, because as it stands, the time frame just doesnt seem to add up, especially in relation to your original post of using the same plants.

Yup, definitely constructive criticism in relation to trying to get to the bottom of things. Positive re-inforcement originally though, as I had originally mentioned, and as Kashgari, Shanti and Hempy can attest too, my initial attempts at growing were far from successful in terms of plant health and yield. Though I was pulling excellent herb from day 1 of harvest, but hardly plants to brag about.

Good luck, looking forward to seeing the thread progress. :)

All round 2 plants were clones. I did not transfer ones that were already flowering. Round 1 were all original seedlings and round 2 were clones of those. Sorry if that was not clear.

Edit: if you look at the pics and measurements of the previous posts I think it's easy to see they are clones of the original seedlings. Shanti stated these flower quick 6-8 weeks. Hope this helps.

Edit: post 54 on 8-11 is the first day of second round. Roughly 30 days of flower on a 42-56 day strain.

I thought you made a valid point zigzag, but some people are pretty sensitive, especially about the word hermie, definitely didn't think you were the one trolling.
Peace, GG

Jesse it's funny after your long post about zag being troll and you obviously misreading my thread. You break out the name calling. Zags post was nonwhere near trolling. In fact I thinks he keeping an open mind about the possibilities about this strain. Then you cut and past an twist my words. You obviously are scouring my posts because if you would read or even look at the pics it's obvious I did not use the same plants in each room.

Jesse quote Hopefully more people can get a good read of Shanti's article below, without having others bump it from que after reposting it 15 minutes later. Considering Shanti is among the leading experts in cannabis today, his words carry far more weight on a phenomena which has yet to be extensively studied then nearly anyone in the industry today bar an extremely small handful of individuals. None of which can be found at Icrag by the way.

You posted this because your name was not on top in the que. I made a statement in the fem thread about double posting you did not like. Everyone can check the time for themselves. Because 15 minutes later your on this thread. THAT IS TROLLING when you go to another thread and start baiting.

If you dont understand your own advice go back re read this thread and you will see how much you are missing.

And another piece of your own advice you should follow.

Yes in your seat Jesse. Keep em coming chief. I can twist and well as you can.

Now that Ive schooled you on your misreadings how is it different now?

my initial attempts at growing were far from successful.

You will learn soon enough it takes time especially working with a strain the public has not seen.

I'm sorry I made you cry and display your emotions on this thread. That tends to happen when ones tactics are used against him. No one called anyone names until you got here. I even tried to play nice. But then there flew the cut and paste game and misinterpretations by you.

Now I posed a ? How it it different now you know clones were used? Answer or not I'm trying to get back to the thread and discuss the possibility of this strain possibly having some issues.

Resin,
Do you hear that? Its the sound of your credibility being shot to shit my friend ;). As Ive previously explained, the period of flower your "2nd round" of plants are in, in relation to the time frame you built your "new grow room" ;) quite readily suggest you're not being honest about the conditions in which your "2nd round" of plants were flowered in. Simply put, you're lieing to the entire community and your own words, dates and pictures tell the tale.

Normally the fact you've changed your story, after having your own words used to enlighten you to your own mistakes of poorly adapted growing environments and misuse of feeding schedule would be enough. But instead of being a man and admitting your own faults, which you were well on the way to doing, you start to make bold claims which do not add up to the evidence presented. You've sunk your own ship, and its all right there for everyone to see for themselves. Quite simply, you're a fool for attempting to suggest Shanti would release a herm proned line to the public and after examining all of the evidence, its quite clear you're to blame for your plants faults not Shantibaba.

Its simply amazing how fast your Ortega's went into flower, at the stage of growth they are in compared to the time frame in which you built your new environment. Even more amazing is how fast you found them to go "herm" in terms of the limited time frame in which you've given us to go by. This all points to you being less than honest, and blaming others for your own mistakes.

Now you're certainly welcomed to continue on with your thread, however Im thinking you've got a black eye due to being exposed for your half truth, poorly executed report. And when called out, you resorted to crying like a baby with the above rebuttals which are conveniently devoid of content, which amount to one liners representative of a bruised ego. Its funny how you went from a sol-um, broken post attempting to correct the record which was already established in attempting to change your story to fit your poorly orchestrated Herm claims to the one liner, cry baby rebuttals which clearly took you hours to think of and come back to us with. I'm willing to bet you lost quite a bit of sleep thinking about how your dates, times and flowering periods simply didnt add up to the story you were proposing to us on the forum. Otherwise, why go from attempting to correct the "story" to full on temper tantrum? lol.

Thanks for playing, come back again real soon sweety ;)

You still want to beleive that these are the same exact plants and the 2nd round is not a clone. Go thru my albums and tell me there the same. The first 2 pics are of the first round the second 2 are of second round. Note the dates and you can check for yourself when they were downloaded. There also in this thread in order with many more to back that they are in fact clones. I think I sank your battleship!

I have never said Shanti released a herm prone strain I have said its possible. The only one that typed those words were you. Its also possible it was heat related or nute related or something else my fault. Im not a perfect grower but at least I can admit it.

As far your timeframe and my new grow room. Who says I dont have 4,5 or even six other spaces I grow in. I am building a new room and in fact its not even done and the 2nd round are in another room I use for veg and or flower depending on how many plants I have.

I have not once changed my story. I pmd shanti and asked if ortega hermed more when stressed with heat or with nutes. I have yet to hear a response. I did this to try and narrow down what I thought the cause was. Since another experienced the same it could indicate these may have a tendancy to herm under some stress related conditions. I only fed once at 1/4 strenght a few days before and I had 90 degree temps for about a week. Not really alot of stress but could be I dont know.

The only black eye here is me having to deal with trolling behaviour. Remember this all started with asking you not post things twice. I dont think that deserved you disrespecting me and other members on this thread. Remember the rules, I dont think I need to post a link because your familiar with how this site is suppose to work.

Your last post only consisted of insults and rhetoric. You originally posed a thought that if it was a clone it would be a diff. story. You convienantly avoided answering and resorted to insult more. Saying I have nothing to back up my story. You offered nothing in your last post to prove anything other than what your opinion and misunderstanding of the truth. Well read thru this thread again and its pretty clear how honest I am. I admit there are faults but I am no novice. Best of luck to you.
