MNS Ortega Grow

Harvest Day 60

I wanted to go a few more days but had to make room for my G13 Skunk gals in the bloom room. Sorry not many pre-harvest shots, wasn't into taking photos that day, had a lot of work to do quickly.
For selection I'm down to 3 females now, Ortega 1 and 2 both showed small clusters of male flowers, plant 1 moreso than 2.

Your plants look very good and the buds look nice as well.

It appears as though Ortega may have an issue because you're the second person to report, in as many days, that they've experienced male flowers on their female plants. I hope these are isolated instances and not something that will be problematic with the line. Did the male flowers release any pollen? Were they isolated clusters or did the produce profusely? Also, another member stated that the male flowers formed at the bottom of the plant, was that your experience as well?

How did you like the stone of the plant? Was it powerful or relaxing? Any information you can provide will be helpful.

Respect Medicine Man!

Hi MM,

Another one to notch on the belt, eh! Ortega looks great man... especially your Ortega 4 pheno. Seems to be the heaviest of them all...

Thanks for sharing your grow with the fam and I look forward to your G-13 pics...

Regarding nanners... I am not sure one can avoid them when dealing with IBL's. It seems that not only Shanti but other breeders can not really avoid them in their cultivars. Maybe it has something to with inbreeding to itself numerous times...

At least you found your keepers right?

Redcap dropped me a nice joint of your Ortega yesterday... do you know what pheno you gave him... it would be nice to follow along!

Peace,

Chana

RIGHT ON...

Good work Medman... is it stoney like kush... what's the taste.. from the little sample u took...
Also... i noticed u talk about straight rockwool as a medium. Do u use a 1 gallon pot... and just one nute feeding everyday for the entire cycle.....?

Pollen was released since I have found a very few seeds. Clusters were isolated, almost all on the bottom of the plant. Plant 1 exhibited single male flowers on upper buds, see the photo above, bud on the left shows a single male flower about 2/3rd's of the way up.
So far plant's 4&6 are powerful, and not for daytime use. Plant 5 is relaxing and good for daytime use.

High again Chana, yes i found a couple keepers, plants 4 & 6 for now, maybe just keep one of them, time will tell.
I'm not sure which kind you sampled, he got a bit of each, he's helping me test.

It's a stoney taste, but not a Kush taste, it's hard to describe really. I've never been the best to describe the flavours/tastes.

I've been using 5 gallon pots filled with granulated rockwool with 1 watering/feeding daily. Each plant in the 5 gallon pots gets 4 gallons of fresh water/nutes daily.(drain to waste system) Once a week I'll flush 5 gallons of pH'd water thru each pot to flush out some buildup.
I've left them in the 1.5 gallon square pots pictured earlier, had to begin bloom sooner than expected, they also get watered/fed once daily, with 1 gallon of water/nutes mix, drain to waste. we'll see how they do compared to the 5 gallon pots.

Next up Medicine Man, planted a dozen seeds yesterday. Gave the other dozen to a friend to grow out, gotta luv the 24 seeds per pack!

I am going to have to try this rockwool plan... I've used rockwool blocks,, on a flood and drain. I still like my way.. but currently starting my NEW Mother selection in Soil-less mix just till I get clones to thro on my table.

Seed

MM,

You mention you have a few seeds. Any plans to grow them out?...Ns

noshow, I can't hang onto seeds long enough.
Only seeds i have left from the 2 MNS direct seed orders are a dozen Black Widow seeds. Others were planted or given to friends. I have some Medicine Man(28 days since germination) and Shark Shock(23 days since germination) seedlings on the go now. G13Skunk's done in a week, and a couple Spice gals a week into bloom.

G13

MM,

Do you have a link to the g13 grow?, or did you not do a thread on them? If not maybe post some shots of them here when done...?

Have you had a chance to sample the Ortega well enough yet? How is it if so...? Thanks MM nice looking job so far...Ns
