SMOKE REPORT TIME.....
Well thank you to all for joining me on this journey. I am grateful to have been a tester this run, though I will warn people it hasn't been my favourite.
Due to several reasons, I can only really grow 2 plants at a time. I had two phenos, a super low yield plant and a slightly higher yield plant. The low yield plant is absolutely gorgeous, will go into it more during the effect part of the review.
Harvested on day 60 of flip, in the future I think I would let it go slightly longer but I made a stupid decision on when to flip and was forced to chop earlier as I was away. This was a major muck up that I definitely won't do again. I should have let it veg for a bit longer to increase yields. It showed a lot of light burn stress indicators too, where the tips of the leaves were getting scorched. I think having the light on such a low output may have also impacted the run as it was dimmed to 55-65% for the most part.
These were not vigorous plants, and really took a long time to get growing. They stretched great though.
My wife joked about nicknaming the strains, so for reference, the low yield plant (on the left hand side of the grow pics) is called suffering succotash (SS), and the higher yielding plant (on the right side) is waxing gibbeous (WG).
MedMan x Zunami review:
Smell: 3/5
Somewhat disappointed in the smell of this one. Was expecting a lot of fruity smells, but really I have ended up with fuelly/ chemically fruit and a very strong herb smell. I am blaming the LEDs on this. I have been on the fence for a while as I definitely feel like I used to get much better smells and results from my old HPS set up. Do not get me wrong, this herb smells strong, but it isn't specific enough personally. Suffering succotash smells very fruity, but just non descriptive fruit. Waxing gibbeous smells far more chemically, but again a general fermented fruit smell. No specific fruit smells, like orange or berries, just a general fruity smell (that is tasty).
Effect: 4/5
So, this is such a tough one as the two plants were extremely different. This is a major vaporizer herb rather than joints, and honestly I am not sure why.
SS: I kept a mother plant of the SS, as I liked the look and smell of it as it started to flower, and I will keep it. This is the first plant I've ever wanted to keep. The effect is extremely quick onset, and absolutely mind blowing. Relaxing euphoria, chatting shite and just having a good time is how I would describe it. Its a bit of a lazy smoke, or even a day destroyer. Its unique in that after a bag or two of the volcano, you are beautifully stoned for about 2 hours, and as you start to sober up you get super tired/ snoozy. 3-4 bags of the volcano and you are absolutely gone, drooling at the wall.
The high seems to last for about 6 hours, which honestly is the longest high I've experienced. You aren't majorly stoned, but you can feel that you've smoked something.
WG: The yield for this one was much better, but unfortuntely it is a much weaker smoke. In terms of potency I would give it a 3/5, it is much better for getting up and doing something, but I do love the potency side of a smoke. The benefit is, it's hard to over indulge with this strain. Its good for gaming or watching tv or movies. No drooling at the wall with this one, but it is euphoric and enjoyable. Both are very moreish.
Unfortunately, I can really feel the tolerance building on this one quickly. The effect I was getting from 3 bags 2 weeks ago I am needing probably 6 to get as far, so I am not sure if I will keep it for long, but it is something I want to experience with. Interestingly, I havent found a ceiling with this one, but my friend who doesn't smoke much found that he got so high he became sober from the WG. We need to test the SS for a comparison.
Yield: 2/5
Absolutley pitiful. I found that they were taking a while to grow, as they were indie dominant. The height was the biggest thing, I flipped them around the same time as the previous run of shark shock, but yikes they didn't yield near it. From the suffering succ, I got 50.6g. From the Waxing Gibbeous I got 80.2g. 130.8g from the two plants under a 250W Migro Led. Under the same set up from shark shock, I got approximately 270g.
Future changes:
So I was lucky enough to try some of the original haze cuts during the summer, and it has relit my love for the haze. But I am completely changing my set up from a 250w Migro Led Living soil, to full on 400w HPS old school Holland rockwool hyrdo. Debating what to grow first, it will either be Issac Haze (AG13xC5/5HzC) or Nevils Hz x Pure Hazeling, but watch this space!
