Mango Haze and Mango Haze IBL, in search of a keeper

Day 24 of flower,

Welcome to the jungle.
Plants are still stretching like crazy, my goal was to keep them fairly short but that did not go as planned. If you go back a couple of post you can see where I started with them.
Won't be easy to show the different pheno's, its like a wall of green.
I topped them several times now, did have some nice and interesting smells already.
I will have to ty them up soon, will make the best of it.
So far no light burn or bleaching, they can handle strong light well, they will lower in a week or so when there is some weight in the buds so I will do my best to avoid damage.

They seem overal happy, some pheno's still have some light damage at the tops of the leaves on the new growth but they al receive the same feeding and is to be expected for my first run with these.
I did clean the undersides severly to avoid male sacks on the lower branches ( a tip from Shantibaba).

Lighting is at 345w CMH, led's are at 100% and distance is aprox. 10cm-15 to the plants.
They receive 13h lights off and 11h lights on.
They are fed 0,5ml/L Silic Rock, 0,5ml/L Calmag Pro and 2ml/L Alga Bloom in rainwater.
Temps are around 24°C, RH around 60%.

Lower branches are al gone, this should improve airflow and direct energy to the top of the canopy:

Lights are slammed to the roof:

Nice thin leaved girls these Mango's, I like looking at them:

Already a lot of difference in early bud set:

Mango Haze IBL#1 is the slowest of the group and has the thinnest leaves:

Until next week and if you don't see me, you know what I'm doing (tying these up😅).
What beautiful thin and healthy Sativa leaves your girls have their Brother Swifty! Very impressive grow. Enjoy you time away…

What do you mean with the smoke of CMH is better? More potent, smooth, tasty?
The CMH have a better PAR than HPS while adding less heat than HPS but more than LED beeing between the both imho.
I have seen many great examples of CMH grows.
And yoh mean LED buds from your SSH look better did i get that right? Thanks for the info. They do look very similar in the pics the bulb side a but more stretched maybe.
I find that the effect is a bit more "profound" from CMH. This is subjective I guess because my brother or my friends don't know what i'm talking about when I say this and let them try. CMH looks are bit less dense than LED's (It is only a 315W bulb). Again these are small differences and if I manage to have smaller plants the overlap of the light would be there as I initially intended.

Thanks BrotherBoris, I like these girls also!

I read about him mentioning this for Ortega. Did he recommend this for all or most varieties?

Beautiful plants. 🤓
Now I'm in doubt, I read this many years ago and it always stuck with me. I thought that it was meant in general.
Only the man himself can say for sure.:)

Maybe the CMH just adds more IR and this does translate into more heat (more fluffy) and of course a different sprectrum than the LED what alters slight Terpenoid expressions also and could definitely alter the high. I find it very interesting.345w are the only CMH bulbs i have seen used so thats probably the all around standard fixture. May i ask what the price was for the whole fixture?

Thats makes sense to me.
I don't recall how much I paid but did a quick search and it is around €430 now.
I had a DE 630W fixture also, One bulb with 2 separate 315 bulbs inside it. Does produce heat!

Next year i'm going with the Philips CMH bulb, heard good things about it.

Day 31 of flower,

Stretch is over for most of the plants. I removed extra leaves and budsites in the canopy this week. I hope that this ensures quality as this round was entended to make selections.
They are doing good so far.
Lowered the CMH to 315w, plants are to close now.
It was a lot colder this week and humidity was up.

Greetings.

Looking at your sativa jungle makes me pretty happy 😎🌱 I wish you the best of luck to find some killer expressions!
Thank you @pleased420! 🤞
It is nice to look at now but i fear how this grow wil turn out, once there is some weight in these buds and gravity set in... 🤯

Imagine it 8weeks from now...i want to fast forward to that sight!
You are not alone.🙂

I just harvested my first pollen.

After flowering 8 males from Mango Haze and Mango Haze IBL I made my final selection yesterday.
Only males that show resin and have a strong and desirable scent are kept.

One Mango Haze IBL and 2 Mango Hazes stood out from the rest with Mango Haze IBl male being more exceptional than any other male I've grown to date.

Will post some pics of the 3 studs later this week.

Hello,

I harvested for the second time pollen from my 3 keeper males today.
First time I do this. It's a messy job and everytime I'm done my nose is totally blocked, even with a mask on.

I had 3 criteria's for keeping the males:
- They had to be vigourous.
- I had to like how they smell (aimed for hazy, fruity).
- Visible resin on them.

Out of 8 males 3 made the cut:

Mango Haze male #5:

He smells fruity, hazy and a bit like metal?

Mango Haze male #15:

Fruity, hazy and some musk.

Resin smells strongest on this male, very fruity and also like sweet perfume. It's my favorite smell!

Let's hope I can make some seeds next year!

OMG
never seen such males :O
5 & 15 are stunning :)

Looking good. All the best for your pollination efforts! Are you looking for 1 one 1 or doing a controlleed OP with these 3 on your females?
Thanks!

I will follow Neville on this and will do 1-1 mating with my SSH and Western Winds keepers.
If something special pops up in the Mango Haze IBL or Mango Haze females it will also be used.
I will make these seeds under the sun next year!🌞
