Grail: The Ultimate Haze Hybrid

Haze A male is dead. So is the weed in Thailand, compared to days gone bye.
N.

That's for sure! I just got back from Thailand and all that was there was compressed weed from Laos and Cambodia. It wasn't cheap and it smelled and tasted like Mexican brick weed. I was hoping to be able to get my hands on some Thai Stick that I remember back in the 70's. Who knows if the Thai Government put together a medical cannabis program that these old strains of yesteryear come back to life.

Sadly Marco, they killed most of the growers, I think it's too late to ressurrect the Thai genepool. Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are probably in better shape so it's not all gone. I expect Burma still has a lot of stuff left too.

Nev, that's a funnt anecdote about the girl. Similar thing happened to me few weeks back, was chatting to a girl in my local watering hole and she got a bit annoyed cos i didn't remember I had spent the whole evening talking to her a couple of months before.

On the Haze/Burning Bush thing, I expect we will never know the truth because whenever you look into the skunkman's past it gets very murky indeed.

I just remember him talking about it as being a superior haze, and I was left with the impression that it was an ancestor of the '69 seeds that I got from him. In hindsight, this was an incorrect assumption on my part and not necessarily Sam's fault.
The evidence is that he did not smoke and therefore breed haze until at least '71 by his own admission. I'd now guess that he crossed the '69 haze seeds to a Thai and this hybrid was probably similar in quality to stuff that I produced with the '69 seeds.
I saved cuttings from the '69 haze seeds and he probably didn't and the rest is history.
My memory is generally pretty good, but not perfect. I do what I can to report history and pedigrees as accurately as I can. I tend to forget peoples faces at times. I remember being at a party once talking to a chick who I thought I'd never met before. She kept acting stranger and stranger until she angrily pointed out that we'd had sex together a year before. I still cringe when I think about it.

this info is appreciated more than you know ,it actually makes me feel good

your memory seems to be much clearer than all of OT's (if i can kindly/respectfuly call you that ) on the net .as you said earlier in other words i feel the same ive had some wild nights/days even lol but can recall most of what happened, how could you forget such things as what you have bred.

I'd now guess that he crossed the '69 haze seeds to a Thai and this hybrid was probably similar in quality to stuff that I produced with the '69 seeds.

IMO opinion this post might help you all understand my assumption /opinion that the haze stock SAMS gave you wasnt from 69/70 as he told you.soo the burning bush reference is the perfect explanation IMOas too why we see thai/colombian expressions in mns hazes .as you mentioned a few times throughout the thread you thought the parents to be a hybrid

always appreciated

mabye im missing something but wouldnt it just be easier to reconstruct haze by assembalating the strains like thai and colomian...north indian and so forth.....and if you looking for a certain texture or smell or what ever.... you could try other landraces in with it too.

Unless you have direct knowledge that I'm not privy to, I'd suggest that you drop the assumption.
The seeds I got were not just 2 bags. It could have been 12. One had three years put together of older stuff, The bags were old and crinkled like they'd been handled a lot over the years. The writing was old. Germination rates were consistant with the ages described. Sam was uncomfortable selling it. Everything was consistant with the legend.

Sam is an abrasive fellow. He might stretch the truth to exaggerate his own importance, and he does collaborate with the enemy, but I wouldn't accuse him of perpetrating such an elaborate hoax as what you seem to be suggesting. He is a breeder and misrepresenting what he is actually selling would be an atrocity that even he couldn't live with.
I don't like the man, but he has played a significant role in cannabis history.
Everything he has ever sold me has been exactly what he said it was. I'd trust his pedigrees more than I would trust those of most of the modern seed companies.
I was there and parting with the equivalent of a few months salary. If I was you, I wouldn't make the assumption that I could be fooled so easily.

The facts demonstrate that those seeds were the closest to the source of true haze. I got what I paid for.

There ya go, what else is there to say? Only way you'll get more info is to tie Sam down and apply a blowtorch to the collection of soft, dangly objects between his legs and even then I doubt you'd find out more cos he probably told Nev everything.

Can we drop this now please, it's a dead horse that's been flogged and flogged and flogged.

nevil

id like to say again much respect always,i dont wish to upset/fustrate or in anyway belittle your stock ,ive said in the past mns haze is the home of the haze away from the home of haze washington heightsNYC

my passion is haze i wish to know everything is this possible probably not ,but there is a slight possibility LOL ,now with you here you have answered questions i wouldnt have imagined being answered ,im very grateful for everything and anything you wish to share

IME FRANKIES nyc haze is probably the best smoke ive experience in my life ,the only haze not from nyc that was similar was your nevilles haze and it only took my first smoke to realize

im not pullin this out of the skyy or imagining anything ,with the info given by yourself and SAMS himself ,things dont add up .i say assuption because nothing is certain but death or whats documented.

the amount of bags of stock you were given doesnt change the fact you say the plants seem to be hybrids or SAMS speaking of the burning bush in relation too the stock .burning bush is not OHAZE its sams work

just think about the info he told you and the story he has portrayed all along

the post below really sums thing up in a nutshell

The evidence is that he did not smoke and therefore breed haze until at least '71 by his own admission. I'd now guess that he crossed the '69 haze seeds to a Thai and this hybrid was probably similar in quality to stuff that I produced with the '69 seeds

as you say a hybrid of the OHAZE,if he wasnt there as he has told us he was until 71 nothin is certain on his part as too the actual breeding of the ohaze

your guess seems very logical ,as you had said numerous times the parents from the seeds stock seem to be hybrids and you have given guestimated % of haze in them.

his burning bush was offered in his 81 catalog of CC i believe, the haze dates before 69 was never spoke of by him and seem like a straight up lie a fake he must have made up.not once have i ever seen a date mention by SAMS about haze before 69 and i believe you have quoted the post from him about giving you stock

the post is what i refer to ,also this post n a few more from my thread have me stuck on his reference to 76 which obviously has som significane

As for anyone (if I got this right) implying that Original Haze clones from 1969 are used, and alive, that is plain insane, there are no Cannabis clones from 1969, that is for sure. But maybe he meant seeds from 1969? And not grown until the 80's? To be honest I do not know, except the only Original Haze seeds sold prior to the 80's were mine, That I made after 1976. One way or another something is not correct about the 1969 date, and that is what you are going on. As far as I know all Nevilles work with Haze was from Original Haze he got from me, thats what he told me anyway, back in the 80's.

-SamS

what the **** LOL would burning bush have to do with haze stock from 69 or before ?

too me everything happens for a reason and this lil piece of info that he told you about burning bush is quite meaningful

also as you said earlier you wouldnt put a kilo of haze hash on him tellin you he had any part in the actual breeding of the haze ,as i dont believe he himself has admitted this ,as i pointed out in my second to last post in reference to L33t quote below

According to Sam Haze started as Mex crossed to Colombian then S. Indian and Thai were added later by the Bros. Sam never said that he added Thai to the Haze , it was already added when the bros were developing the haze and it was before he got seeds and grew haze himself. So where do you base your claim ?

im not sure if this info is quoted from SAMS or just pieced together as from wats been told but below is a direct quote from SAMS

I gave the Thai and S Indian Kerala genetics to the Haze Bros to use and they did
.

soo if SAMS wasnt around until 71 ,which he admitted b4 i was around ,then he admits he gave the haze bros the thai / S.indian genetics ,it seems fair to say SAMS without saying it has told us he didnt do any work in the actual breeding of the santa cruz haze

The facts demonstrate that those seeds were the closest to the source of true haze. I got what I paid for.

I'd be interested to see what Nevil thinks of the OT1 Haze, see if he thinks it really is Haze or not.

If I remember correctly, the OT haze is the one they say still has the old phenos in it that are now missing from Positronics, sams, and Tom Hills Hazes.

The giant Haze plant out in my orchard has a metalic like flavor and probably wont be done till Christmas. I personally prefer some inscence highlights to the smoke, but it is good bud none the less

Well, it's a highly controversial topic. Certainly there is alot of variation in the OT1 line and purple phenos that are missing from those others.

I like the incense-like Hazes too.

I've never quite understood the rage over purple weed. Big deal, it's purple, I've never smoked any purple weed that could compete with it's green/orange/red/tan counterpart. If anything like 90% of the time it's only purple due to cold environmental factors, which in my opinion slowed the potential of the plant to begin with, thus making it not as worthwhile as it could have been. I know this thread is addressing a phenotype of haze that is naturally purple, but I just don't think color alone should warrant further breeding into a seed line. If the smoke was inferior, let that purple shit die, like Mexican brick weed.

I have only found a couple of good purples, this NYCD was really tasty, orangey and fuelly, pretty potent too but I've had better green plants.

Perceived reality is stronger than actual reality correct? Well I perceived, and wanted to get higher off purple weed, and STILL didn't. Granted, I haven't smoked all the purple types of weed available, but from my personal experience color means nothing, and if anything purple is a bad thing. There is a cut of "Grand Daddy Purps" out west that's making a shitload of noise, sadly I didn't get to smoke any on my last trip to San Fransisco.

If that's the same as the Grandaddy Purps that was sent over to the UK it's crap, beasters at best. Not all that purple either. Purple Urkle is really good however and makes stunning hybrids such as Resverva Privada's Purple Wreck and High n Lonesome's Dawgs Waltz.
