Those 2 plants are the tallest/ widest and the squattest. The squatt one being ideal for a pot to pot SOG as the branching is very upright and it's got the form to put 16 on 1m2. They smell somewhat like pine and plums. I don't have enough fingers to rub all the stems. It's not about selecting for the most Ideal plant for me. I am crossing the EQ and the EPSH reciprocal and I have some pure haze that I can do some breeding with. I have some bar graphs that show the 62.5% the 75% and the 81.25% Haze as a possibility. Breeding the BX2 to the F2 I can get some ultra 81.25% haze that will trigger really fast. It's about getting as much as I can in the F2 seed that I can take into the next stage of this work.

I can put whatever smell and taste onto any herb, i'm looking for agronomic traits. I have plenty herbs with a flavour that is almost unrivalled, it's the proper breeding that gets me. What I have said above you can't buy for shit. There is a lack of cannabis breeders. What were some of my Idols are now the shit on the bottom of my flipflops.

What was the fastest male is now a long way off the Cambodian Laos. That's the quickest male this season. It will be at full drop by the time the females are in heat.

I smoke really fruity cannabis loud stuff so stem rubbing isn't good indicator for me untill late at night when i've had a shower jumped in the pool and cleaned off all the weed residue from puffing all day.

it's not about smells in the males etc it's about performance as none of what its in the males apart from the Ultra early or the breakdown of the genotypes AAEe aaee and how that applies to the next outcross. AaEe is what I want with aaee but i'll take all the other genetypes too.

From here I will then start to select into the typified genetypes so I will be looking at more then photoperiod but also chemotype. I want type 1's and 2's BTBT BDBD to make early BTBD plants.

What I am doing most will not understand or have any use for but this is plant breeding. I don't see it being done like I can do myself. Not to be big headed but I don't see a lot of anything in most seeds but wasted time and effort. I look at what America has to offer the world and laugh hard and loud at them.

Very interesting Mate Dave, this goes far beyond my knowledge but it does intrigue me quite a bit.
Are there any books that you recommend that would explain the basics to me?
I like to read in the wintertimes and I sure would put some effort in to try to grasp this.
I'm holding onto some Neville's Haze males that stand out in smell/resin production and after smoking them I'm convinced that they could be something I would want make seeds with.
As you say, time is precious, so some basic plant breeding knowledge could help.

I will be watching your progress!
 
It's got to the hot bit of the grow. Pushing 40's and extreem winds today. Spotted this dude holding on for life as I wenmt round and did the drip line checks this afternoon for the refill. Thought it was a shade leaf that I missed last night but it's part of the IMP team.

Only people who are passionate and actively work with the plant coaxing out its best, will actually be able to breed anything of worth. There were plenty of underground people back in the day in the USA who actually bred and who brought forth the best that their varieties had to offer. I'm sure that there are still people here in the underground who are doing good work. Not so much with many of the current people here in the states hocking their wares. I'm hoping that as US breeding goes largely undergrown again due to new laws, that the real Cannasuers again begin creating and circulating top tier genetics for real enthusiast.

Keep up the great work, your breeding project is intriguing!
 
Thankyou @Diesel840. Yes many people that run the hippy trails were Americans or had American friends and or family. I think the Americans get a bit more hype then most folks as that's what Americans do best. Inflate things. I've been around them all my life. Plants too.

You don't hear about the people that sat it out in country doing the work and retiring without even making the news or seeing inside a cell.

I have 2 Uncles in AUS and 1 in he USA. Neither of them are in the Situation i'm in having been through old to new money and having the Luxury of those older days visiting where these old cultivars came from and the youth to go and get it all.

There seems to be various approaches to making seeds and breeding. 1 is making F2's or open pollinations (Whitelables) another is to make hybrids of various continents and to do classical breeding principles to harness the best of the best. Some are doing some "preservation work" IE ripping off the people in these countries and selling off their seeds without permits to extract and export. Some are still preserving their oldest of the modern American Dutch Hybrids. Others are just crossing production clone to production clone and they ocasionally find something new to them but probably not better than the wild has to offer.

These people don't have the time or the skills to do any real breading. Space is nothing. You can cull down 5000 plants really fast if you had to use only those with the minerals. These people are looking to make another $1 off seed made in their production clone librarys with plants that don't even breed true.


What I have found this season is ledos Early Buck the Early Pearl x Cambodia LAOS is the fastest to flower and I have not just seen my gardens this year if you know what I mean.

That's one part of the job. Selection. I found a really early triggering male..

This is the Biggest of the EPSkHaze.. Its over 6' now and almost showing signs of triggering. Plants are almost touching now.. It's gonna be fun come harvest time..

I will get some daylight snaps today.. The Scrog is doing well :)

The Early Queens are really impressive plants. I've grow a lot of things. This is maybe the best seed type i've grown at this stage. Growth wise, shape branching and overall canopy put out by the plants. It's making the OG's and SourD's look like a joke.
 
It's no bother :) 🤤 Trust me.

I'm gonna go have a look see how this deep waterng in the evenings is dealing with the temperatures.

The plants are in sor of plots. with the smallet further down the slope so the light is better, now they're all slightly touching it's nice to go lay down amongst them in the shade. Multiporpose crop this is. it's gonna need some serious tool to get these down. I'm thinking on some drying options. I leaning towards a shed.. Gona need to be a tall shed :unsure:

@shantibaba, How do these respond to a late pruning? I think I will clear some of the lower stuff out of the main lower leaders that'll flop into the irrigation patch. They're starting to thin themselves there naturally. I was going to use some thread and some steaks so I can tie in the main lower bits. I topped one of the EPSKHaze by accident @ the 4th Node and it's really really taking to that form.

That is something to note for people looking to keep the hight down.

What kinda weight will these 2 types likely do as singl plants full season outdoors, 500g +? What type is likely to grow the biggest plant in the MNS roster...
