It is almost good.It would be more difficult to understand & translate if LBH had written it in Frysk.:D

Namaste :)

I had my car flowering Haze the same way as when I applied my bulldogs bred to lijnteeld.

don't worry, be happy

information gathering helps the community and should be fun.:)

if anyone else can answer somebody's question this is good also; everyone learns or at least looks at the issue from a different perspective and then can either learn, correct, or maybe clarify a point.;)

I don't think Nevil is able to answer every question we come up with or has the interest, or time, or whatever.

forums offer collaborative learning but also sometimes personal dramas appear. "eat the cherry, spit out the stone":D

question

just remembered this one:

the gene in Cannabis that induces dormancy is, IMHO, a survival mechanism that provides plants many years after they have fallen off the mother plant. this was the studied conclusion of the experts and farmers as to why they couldn't eradicate the hemp which grew on the banks of the ditches in Indiana which we used to pick back in '69-'72 (was busted in '72 for this:().

so my question: this gene has been blindly selected against by modern breeders due to artificial environments instead of a field. i have noticed, or think i've noticed some strains such as La Nina which often has "volunteers" come up much later than when the seeds were planted. i've seen this both in the f1's and f2's. i grow mostly organic and recycle my soil, therefore notice this effect. any ideas or experiences along these lines?

soory i dint mean too test ore somthing ?
my english is very bad so i thinking let sey it in dutch so nevil understand what i mean.
but indeed it not good on a english forum
sorry guy's
peace

Do not worry for that, who want to understand your english will find way for that, who wont will start bitching.

Most popular language on planet are broken English, so do not worry about it I use same eng like you :D

ive always been intereted in the topic of recycled soil is it benefical or does it create problems?

also im curious as to wat exactly is the above question ?

IME ive used soil in a pot from a previous grow ,soo nothing at all was added to the soil mix ,this was IME my best grow to date ,im not soley basing this experience on the fact the soil was recycled ,but it made me understand less equals more

hi bigherb

the question was: any experience and maybe pro/con as to whether to keep this gene in cannabis

Trolls

I'll respond to this because you seem honestly confused. It's a question of logic.
Firstly, SB would have to be in on the fraud.
Secondly, an impostor would have to have lived in my house to explain how my lines were put together.
Thirdly, an impostor would have to have considerable knowledge on breeding, not only cannabis, but horses, sheep, birds and fish.
Fourthly, he would have to be able to speak both English and Dutch.
Finally, he would have to be able to fool the few people on the forum that know me.

Did someone tell you I was dead? I'm 54 years old mate.
N.

Don't let the 1% of idiots here get to you Nevil. They are just trolls that get off on giving bad vibrations. The other 99% of us are happy to be able to talk to the REAL Nevil :)

Why not re-use soil?

Because of structure (compaction).

Structure is critical when growing in containers - the health of the root zone depends upon the tiny air pockets provided by you grow medium.

The structure of peat moss quickly degrades. Organic components break down. All this works out fine in the great outdoors, but not in the unnatural confines of a container.

Re-using soil is not a best practice.

you are correct that this is not a "best practice", but considering how I grow it works for me.

sure, the soil used for seeds I buy is mostly newly
formulated with fresh ingredients, but my seeds that I make gets used soil supplemented with virgin organic matter. every new batch of seeds whether mine or bought gets resifted soil. i have several sieves, some home made out of different screens fastened over welded wire. i also have 2 purchased sieves that have three grades of "fineness". the new organic matter is sieved as well and mixed where needed. the only time i do not refill the container is if the previous seed did not sprout and i put a replacement seed in another area of the soil surface. this is how I usually find these "volunteers"

if the seeds are hard to germinate or precious i usually will sterilize the soil anyway. new soil will not always be pathogen-free so sometimes this necessary too.

i also use the biggest perlite available either #3 or #4 which makes my soil filled with air spaces for great root development.

reused soil, if it was originally high quality, IMHO can even better if supplemented correctly. i use the best earthworm casting i can find and have the following guanos: Primal Harvest, Desert Bat, Peruvian, Indonesian, Chilean, and i think Nauru. these guanos improve the soil whether it is inside or out. i can always learn new things but am happy with my soil methods at present.

for sure with some plants which need a "lean" mix "less is more"

i think some of the soil companies don't "age" their soil enough to be "finished compost" either. maybe the soil in your container was one such. also, farmers today are going more to a "no till" agriculture since they recognize the importance of undisturbed colonies of microorganisms.

i use no blood or bone meals but rely on carefully measured guanos. Additionally, i'm happy with Canna "Terra Vega" for veg.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking your method.
I was just responding to bigherb's question.

Since we are on the topic of reusing soil. A soil based primarily around aged pine bark would be the best option for those who do reuse soil. Microbes have a hard time breaking it down, and a person could easily get 4 or more grows out of it before needing to replace the soil.

thankyou all for sharing your opinions and experience
Is it too late for mine? :D Compaction shouldn't be a reason not to reuse soil because you can break up the rootball and fluff it up again. There are a lot of companies selling compacted bales and that never seems to be a problem. Getting it wet a few times shouldn't make a difference, should it?

If I just fharvested a healthy crop then it has proven itself. A healthy soil doesn't need to be sterilised because it won't get any better than that. Green living is all the rage and recycling is good!.

always appreciated and i agree wit those points
