NL5Haze x Zunami Test

Strange. I used the nail file last night and planted in soil this morning. 🤞
I've got my fingers crossed for you (and me!).
Worst case scenario for me - run the three and take lots of cuttings for a second run. Hopefully something special shows up.
I'm in two minds as to whether or not I should delicately 'dig up' the remaining three non-starters and give them the nail file treatment.
Keep it green.
TF.

Careful, if you damage the delicate tap root, there will be no hope. Last time I messed around like that I lost several seedlings.

Good luck either way. Hopefully you two have more come up.

I'm still waiting on my seeds.

After waiting a week for the seeds to crack I decided to put the non-starters straight into the medium in the hope that something might 'fire'.
As far as I know the seeds could be sat there in the same state as when I planted them.
I think I'll have a gentle look with a toothpick and some tweezers and go from there.
The three I have all look great so at least I have something to work with.
I'll post some pictures up later on.

Awesome. Let us know how it goes.

Good time to bust out your archeological hat. 😁

The three remaining 'stubborn' seeds have been retrieved (with great skill and precision on my part!) and much to my disappointment they have done nothing. Not a sign of a root or even that they are considering germinating.
They have now been carefully sanded a little and placed back into paper towels wetted with a 1/4 strength rhizotonic solution. Desperate times, extreme measures.
The other 3 are flying and look to be very vigorous. They are currently vegging under the late summer sun and LOVING it!
Keep it green.

As promised earlier.
Some pictures of the NL5 Haze X Zunami (We need a name for this strain!) - Northern Hazami or NL Hazami?

The two biggest plants are 11 days since germination and have a definite 'indica' look so far. The smaller one is a week behind the others.
Not a lot to see but at least things are moving.
I just need the other three to come good.

What is your photo period for these plants?
Sunlight only or indoor lighting too?
I’m anxious to plant mine but I need to wait so I can get them big before the flowers.
Still a chill in the air here even with indoor heating.
✌️

At the minute we're on about 14 hours daylight with temps of 24-28 degrees C.
I pull them in at night and give them another 4 hours of light.
I'm aiming to use the sun to give them a boost and let them grow bigger before bringing them in for flowering.
Makes sense to use the sun whilst it is here.
Cheers,
TF

It's been two weeks now since I first attempted to crack the NL5 Hz X Zunami and I'm sitting at a 50% germination rate.
I'm planning to give the final three seeds another week and then (depending on results) I'll be running with whatever I have.
The three I do have are all doing well and growing quickly and vigorously in my organic soil mix.
More updates to come later in the week.
Keep it green,
TF.

Hey Flea, maybe try cracking them open, before you give up on them. Manually crack one open just as an experiment. If it sprouts a tail, crack open the others:

Simple Tips To Germinate Wild Landrace Seeds! || Khalifa Genetics (06/17/19)

NOTE: The above video demonstrates how to manually crack open a hardened landrace seed, both by needle-nose pliers or bare fingers. Your seeds are not as hard, so should crack easier, with less applied pressure.

The Bean Buster Seed Cracker, Demonstrated by Mr. Toad

I share this second video merely for further demonstration, that people have designed ways & means to do it, because they would rather try that as a last resort before chucking them.

Cheers! - FF
