Musashi plays with fire- NL5/Afghan grow

30 years ago AC/DC released a song called Moneytalks. Back in Black would be a good name but misleading, as album was made 40years ago......

Aloha CF, PMB, Marcus and GS thanks for the love braddahs!

Hey braddah Dkeppel! Now that‘s a great question that has me wrestling with how to answer it. So far out of the MNS catalogue, I have grown:

Critical Mass
Master Kaze
Master Kush Skunk
Medicine Man
NL5/Afghan
Nordle
Ortega

For ease of grow I like Medicine Man, Nordle, Ortega.
For yield I like Critical Mass, Medicine Man, Master Kush.
For aroma I like Critical Mass, Master Kush, Master Kaze, NL5/Afghan, Ortega.
For flavor I like Master Kush, Master Kaze, NL5/Afghan
For after work I like Master Kush, Master Kaze.
For sleepy time I like Medicine Man, NL5/Afghan, Ortega.
For straight up medicine I like Medicine Man, NL5/Afghan, Ortega.

For various reasons, I like ‘em all but right now I am discovering NL5/Afghan. My second grow; smoked half a joint of #8 last night at 9pm, woke up at 1am, TV and lights still on, doors wide open. This is serious knock out shit.
Critical Mass is very appealing for yield just have to watch the mold on those big buds. Master Kaze offers a variety of phenotypes and Master Kush is an all time favorite for many years now. Yummy stuff.

But if I had to pick one “Indica” it would probably be Medicine Man for ease of grow, yield, effect. It is excellent medicine.

Medicine Man

I am interested in what others think; their experience with these MNS plants and look forward to their feedback.

Good hunting braddah.

Phew, sounds like lots of good stuff, would you say the NL5XAfghan is great if your focus is good flavour and pain relief / sleep aid? What is its flavour like ?

I mostly smoke sativa but it's not helping me sleep, I've been put off indicas a bit by werid flavours and hangovers in the past but I had some recently that's changed my mind.

So many on this site with more experience with aforementioned MNS indicas- wish they would comment.

You are right brah, lots of good stuff!

For me, it depends on the individual plant. Some are earthy and hash, others more fuel, pinene. Difficult to puzzle out as chances are that you may perceive/observe differently than me. Weird flavors for you might be very pleasant to me, e.g. my father would routinely consume thai peppers while my taste buds can’t tolerate spice.

They all have pain relief in varying degrees; somewhat dose dependent. They all have good flavors depending on selection.

IME, the best way to minimize taste objections or more importantly get sleep and pain relief is to derive oil from the plant. Capsule it up according to your chosen dose. Take it one hour before bedtime. Simple and easy and just about any of these strains will do if you bring them down to their essence, i.e. oil. /my 2 cents

So are you the intrepid adventurer or the instant gratification guy? Are you willing to discover through your own selection? Right now NL5/Afghan, Master Kaze, Medicine Man are at auction for €12, Ortega for €21.

Best way to find out is through personal experience but most will agree, you won’t go wrong making an oil out of Ortega, Medicine Man, NL5/Afghan for pain relief and/or sleep.

hey Musashi!

Nordle, my favourite indica out off the mns collection. a Quick one, she loves some growing before flowering. Alot of fruity flavors in this line. A good one for sleep. a litle muscle relaxing. Most of them get really dense flowers, so watch out for mould.

Nice grow again Bro! its absolutely fire

It's hard to explain the off putting taste maybe burning plastic, some people love it.

I'm going to pick up a pack of Medicine Man and Master Kaze when I can, I want a third to add to my list ... if I lived somewhere legal I'd try them all, fingers crossed for 2020 referendum.

Did you do the ACDC x Ortega cross yourself Musashi ? It looks very nice !

Aloha braddahs!

@Byorn you are so right! Great choice! My first serious medicine was Nordle. Great stuff like you say. Uniform plants, flavors and smells, beautiful colors at maturity. Thanks for the nudge brah!

@Dkeppel good choices! I did the cross. Thank you.

Aloha fellow firewalkers!

I am impressed with what male Ortegas can contribute when used in a cross. In this ACDC cross I did, it imparted a slight citrus-pineapple smell, accompanied with tastants evoking juniper, dried blueberries, olives and walnuts. The combination gives a sense of health as pain dissipates throughout the body; a mellow relaxing high that reminds me of warm mornings, mountain biking through the Redwoods of California. Can you tell that I just finished a joint of the ACDC/Ortega #3? LOL.
I want to start looking into Ortega and Nordle males for additional crosses. Thanks to Byorn for reminding me. Beautiful foliage and great medicines.

Thanks for that Musashi, I wanted to know why you choose Ortega for the cross, that's the stuff that's interesting to me.

That flavour combination sounds amazing, that's my dream combination right there.

No doubt about it I've got to get me some Ortega.

Hey brah! You won’t be disappointed. Honestly, with all the variety and recombinant possibilities, there is much to do and much to discover. Good hunting braddah!

Aloha braddah!
And thanks for dropping in. Good question. I am smoking many varieties these days in an effort to drill down to 4 plants (hahahaha); one that knocks me stone dead, one that relaxes me and gives pain relief, one that I can get things done (and I want to), and one that leaves me soaring for hours. I confess I rather like flying! Variety, the spice...
But the NL5/Afghan turned out lovely. Good yields, little variation in the plants as you saw. Each jar (10 plants) is a delight to open. You never know what that initial note will be. Of course, the highs vary from pleasant and relaxing to tales of Sinbad.
Good quality smoke, good medicine. It was an exceptional cure as the flavors are intact and the smoke is consistently smooth. You made some good observations early on brah! That #4 turned out very well; a nice muscle melter and her smoke was like the finest Yenidje. Smell is medium strong herb, spice, nuts. Smooth, smooth like those Balkan Sobranies I smoked back in the '70's. Damn I miss those!

Amazing galaxy fireworks you have there :)

Would like some proper Indica.
As I loved the afghani#1, bought one at 2016 and I must say its nothing to what I used to grow back at 2007.

Is there any chance, you can compare Orthega to Afghani#1 ? (i mean that old strain it used to be, nice litlle bushy plant, with huge leafs)

Aloha braddahs and thank you for your kindnesss.
Not sure how you want me to compare... much of it subjective. Ortega gave me short to medium plants based on my veg time. Nice euphoric as well as narcotic plants. I plan to do another run soon. G13/AfSk ---> NL5/Af ---> Ortega!
BTW, this NL5/Afghan made excellent oil. Much of the feedback is positive. Pain relief and sedation are the common reports. Very happy how it turned out.

I grew some of these out back in 2013 and found a purple pheno was superb but didn't yield as much as some of the others. She had a grape type of flavor. The buzz was outstanding a heavy indica. I assume it was NL#5 leaning? maybe somebody can clarify that for me thanks. I got another pack so I'm going to search and see what I find.
