After losing all the tester plants, figured I'd get something going as it's summer solstice already. Never started this late before. Guess the plants will be small this year but that's ok, only looking for seeds this season. Talking to a few growers around here, everyone seems to be having trouble getting seedlings going this year. Taking 3 starts to get the usual amount of plants. Hmmm.....the town is talking about building 170 apartment units across from my deck. That's going be interesting. Fighting town hall on this one. My last outdoor grow? Wish us luckl! lol

Wasn't sure where to put this...looks like the ocean in the background but it is Lake Malawi. Lake Malawi is the fourth largest freshwater lake in the world by volume, the ninth largest lake in the world by area and the third largest and second deepest lake in Africa. Lake Malawi is home to more species of fish than any other lake in the world, including at least 700 species of cichlids. Malawi is a land locked country so no ocean. Enjoy!

Good luck on trying to stop the apartments longball. this saying holds water: “you can’t fight city hall”. Well you can but usually lose especially when it comes to development. Development means taxes and income for the government…Good luck again!

good luck for the seeds and the fight against the town
Shit 170 apartments! That’ll slow ya down alright! Fight them alright!

Thanks, guys! I'd feel much better if we were fighting with boxing gloves on under 'Marquis of Queensbury' rules. Instead we are fighting with bags-o-money of which we have none and the developers and Town Hall have bulldozers full. Also, Town Hall is trying to pull a fast one. There are supposed to be public hearings on this with weeks of notice before the meetings. The first meeting was announced on a Friday at 3pm. The public meeting would take place 6pm that evening! Talk about playing against a stacked deck. It is also an election year for the town. They may want to pay attention to us! ;)

Didn't you just cut down some trees in that direction? Time for fencing I guess.

mu

Yes, we just cut down 6 full grown Silver Maple trees in that exact direction. The apartments would be up on the hill overlooking my house and deck so a fence would not work there. Know what would work? Trees! Trees would work. Maybe I should plant some Silver Maple trees there? Ahhh, the irony....

We had cut the trees because they were blocking the sun from reaching the deck until 1pm. Now the deck gets sun about 4-5 hours earlier. I guess now apartment buildings will block the sun? We will fight the good fight. Hath not David slain Goliath? David ran over and pulled out Goliath's sword. Then he used it to cut off Goliath's head. If you like action and bloodshed, murder, looting, rape, incest, people being eaten alive by lions, never ending sex, debauchery, unimaginable torture, and everlasting Love and Peace towards your brothers, I highly recommend reading 'The Old Testament'. Not for the squeamish. And it's all true!!!

Hi pleased420! :)

Thank you for the best of luck wishes. I can't tell you a lot about the authenticity of the Afg T seeds I have. If you search for AfgT(one word) and use the name Nevil there is a sentence or 2 about it in a number of threads.

"This strain was given to me by a guy known to me as Jim Ortega. The first noteworthy plant that popped out was like Big Bud. Despite looking like a full indica, it smelled like bubblegum (like BB). Next was a Hash Plant and Northern Lights 1 type, totally different. Finally came the 2 sisters I named AfgT and AfgS, these 2 encapsulated the full range of fruity Skunk types. After seeing just about every indica type, I get 2 archetypal skunk types. I haven't got a clue anymore and I'm calling it Afg, for Afghan....Even the ML AfgT that came out of such a variable gene pool is dominant for it's type. I expect that it's in much of what your smoking these days (skunk wise)."

I would doubt that I have anything that Nevil had. Mostly likely the guy told me a Old Testament story. I grew 3 last year but a friend in a pinch needed some plants so he got them. He liked them and says they yielded enough to last until this next harvest. Surprising as he smokes basically nonstop. I expect to be giving them away this year also!

Good luck with your grow this year Longball!🍀

Nice variety of strains you have, there is one strain I don't know: the G33?

Hi Swifty! :)

G33 is shorthand for Gelato 33. Gelato 33 is a hybrid marijuana strain made by crossing Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC. It supposedly had strong mold resistance. A must try for my area. It leans to the indica side and the plant was not mold resistant for my area. I grew it the year I fucked up my arm so I could not give it as much attention as I would have. It grew well enough that a step ladder was needed to try to get near the top. Scary going up that ladder with one arm. Had some huge plants that summer but Mother Fugly got all the ink as the biggest plant.

After 24 days of drying/curing the Gelato 33 is ready for the long term storage/cure. What can I put it in that is airtight?

That looks like a serious line up

I'm really curious to see how the Afghan Haze turns out on your deck

Good luck for your fight against the apartment block (y)

Well, Mr. Brown, it is a fairly serious line up for around these parts. Most of it I will give away. I will keep most of the Afghan Haze and Early Queen for the deck. I don't expect the AH to finish but I'm in this thing to make seeds. I reckon that I have over 10,000 seeds but @eazynz sez that ya can never have too many seeds! So here I go.

Not sure who is going to get to 'bang all the broads' on the deck. If I get a nice looking, early, Afghan Haze male, then he is the winner. I suspect a Early Queen male would be better for this climate. I won't know the winner until that day so 'don't touch that dial'! ;) If I can keep the plants under 4 ft tall(hahahahahahahahaha), I can finish them in the basement where I can control the climate better than that big ol' garage. Plans subject to change at any moment without a bit of advance notice as you darn well know.

I think that Silver Maple will grow fast But the leaves drop lots of sap. They are more like a bad weed tree. I’d look for another variety of tree or evergreen depending on what grows in your area.

haha yeah, just joking BrotherBoris. Not sure who planted all these Silver Maples around the house but they suck. I am slowly taking them down. They get very tall and the wood is very brittle so a little winds breaks off large branches that want to go thru your roof, windows, cars, etc. Even though it is maple it is not good for fireplaces either. Like you said, a bad weed tree.

"The problem with silver maple trees is their fast-growing nature, which leads to weak wood. Silver maples can drop branches and may even topple over in strong winds, leading to property damage, injuries, or worse. The Silver Maple grows to 70 – 100 feet tall. This tree has brittle wood and is commonly damaged in storms. Lifespan of 130 – 150 years."

Silver Maples are also home to Boxelder bugs which when cold weather comes leaves the trees to get into your warm house. By the thousands, so many that they can make a white house look black. Nearly impossible to bring women home on a bad year!

Praying Mantis munching on a Boxelder bug on my house. A happy sight!

Silver Maple's 3x the size of my house! A concern each time a storm rolls thru, may fall and flatten my house! Priced at about 9,000USD to remove them!

They do look nice as a backdrop for Early Queen!

They do make an awesome backdrop to an awesome looking Early Queen. What a huge beauty. I’m guessing an old picture so how potent was she and when was she ready? End of September/beginning October? You may have described her before but I earned my last degree in 2012 at the age of 60 so my looking up answers days are over. Easier to ask…

You got me on this one Longball ! U R a funny guy! Me too at least in my mind…even if I’m the only one who gets my humor…I was banned last year from a dispensary in a neighboring state 10 minutes from my house due to my sense of humor. I thought I was being funny but the young lady of another background didn’t get it. they did me a favor by banning me. Saved me money and got me to restart my hobby. 🍀😉

Hi BB! :)

The Early Queen picture was taken on Oct. 18, 2022. Last picture of her so she flowered for about 11weeks. Typical for 'early' plants outdoors around here. She had been topped. Her sister was left untopped and was a true early finisher - 9 weeks of flowering. Sis had a Christmas Tree shape - like a Balsam Fir tree with a star on top.

After stretching she looked more like a Douglas Fir Christmas tree. Stretched enough that I needed a stepladder for this one too!

Sis looked pretty hot once I wrasseled her into @Mr. Brown's favorite position! :p

This will be my 3rd time growing Early Queen. I like it. This year I hope to mate it up with some Afghan Haze to create a Franken-strain! ;)
