Rather seems like Shanti is suggesting that there are no definitive answers, and sweeping generalizations simply aren't applicable
Thanks Bushweed, I agree, and I've given it a lot of thought, and have come to the conclusion that, regarding the heterogeniety of landraces, as I have stated before, it's relative.
Allow me, for the sake of argument to give an example: Now let us say there was a man who was in fact 6'3”. Now, is this man short, or is he tall? The question is relative. Most people might look at him and say he is tall, because the average man is between 5'9” and 6'. However, if we had a man who was 7' tall he may consider the man to be short.
I think this is in part, where much of the confusion arises from. The Landraces I have worked with are true landraces, not “reworked landraces” . I have considered them to be homogenous because I am comparing them to the strains I normally work with which are supra-polyhybrids, or extreme outcrosses. Compared to these strains, the landraces I have worked with are indeed homogeneous.
However, Donald and BH, it would appear, are working Mostly with IBLs, so they might look at the exact same landrace stock and consider it to be Heterogeneous. Comparing them to IBLs, they would also be correct.
Add to this the valid points Shanti and BFSkinner made, regarding true breeding landraces, about the extreme variation as to what exactly constitutes a landrace, and between landraces, and it is easy to see how all the confusion arises.
