G13 Haze - 2024 Outdoor Canadian Grown

Greetings to all you MNS Aficionados!

Harvest Update on No.2: Based on the following triche shots, taken early yesterday, harvest day for No.2 has advanced to Oct. 25.

No.2 Bud Sample Size:
20241022_224556.jpg
Apart from the 3 tiny No.3 buds that were shown earlier, in the above bowl, all the other buds in the above photo were taken from No.2. I took a good sample size, to avoid any mistake on the reading.

Many more triche shots were taken than those shared below. They all show more amber than I prefer, actually, so she gets harvested on the 25th as well, weather permitting.

The weather report for that day is calling for rain, early in the day; but the precise time hasn't been provided, yet, so I don't know how I'll roll, exactly. An early morning rain, just before sunrise, would put a real "damper" on my harvest; so it might get delayed until the 26th.

It was supposed to rain last night between 11pm & 12am, so I spent the better part of an hour getting the girls covered up with tarps, and SOB, wouldn't you know it, the weather report changed after they were all tarped-over and ready for it. A lot of work for nothing. SOB!! I was not a "happy camper," when that happened. 😡

10/22/24 Update on 'The RUNT':

As recently indicated, above, the RUNT flowers expressed a purple-ish colour as well, though not as deep a purple as that expressed by No.3. I've tried to capture a bit of it in these photos, but my cheap ass "budget" Android isn't quite up to the task. I assure you, though, they are more purple than these photos reveal. When standing there, looking at the living reality of it, their purple tone is very clear & unmistakable.

Well, that won't ever happen again for a rain-fall, unless it's a severe downpour and longer than a day. Otherwise, it's strictly a frost cover.

Besides, the the tops were not too happy about the tarp treatment. Looking a little stressed about it, actually, today. Except No.5, because the bamboo frame keeps the cover from contacting its crown.

Next one shows a pollinated middle level bud:

When I said she was coming down on the 25th, I totally forgot about her seeds. She will now continue until 10/31, to give the seeds a better chance at life.

Cheers! - FF 😎👍🏻

Killer run, time to chop?

Thanks, Proud Kraut. Yes, it's time to chop. Just letting them go to the end of the month for the sake of the seeds.

Oct. 31 is Chop Day, for at least 3 of them; if it's going to be a dry morning. Otherwise, Nov. 1 will be The Day. No.4, the Big Girl, will be permitted to go an extra week, for her seeds.

I scoped her triche heads, and the amber is just beginning; so, she can go to Nov. 8; depending on the weather. It won't be allowed to go longer than Nov. 8, but could get chopped sooner, if a string of rainy days is forecasted for that week.

Cheers! - FF 😎👍🏻

31 sounds perfect!

Sounds good. 31st it'll be then, weather permitting; if not, then the 30th, instead.

A few shots of 'The RUNT' in sunlight earlier today:

20241026_104322 (1).jpg20241026_104251 (1).jpg20241026_104302 (1).jpg20241026_104359 (1).jpg20241026_104337 (1).jpg

Why I've tended to focus a lot on No.5 is mainly because it's the smallest and therefore the most vulnerable to a semi-harsh northern climate. If the weakest of the group can survive it, then the bigger stronger ones definitely will, if given the right TLC.

Secondly, because of her flower colour, which took me by surprise, a little. I expected some color change, but a subtle one at most. This is more than subtle, imo; and No.3 is extreme, by comparison.

If she had grown another 2 feet in height, she would have been spectacular. Five 6 foot (72") tall No.5s, in Air-pots, would fit nicely under the shed flood light, I think; so I will keep her alive, for now, for some pollen-chucking fun & games. When it stops being "fun", or interesting, then it's time to switch up the game

She has great potential as a breeder, imo; so will try to cross her with a thick stalked Original KQ, but time isn't on my side for an extended sift of the F2 generation, for 'The One'. No time for that, unless something changes in my world; but I will certainly make F2 seed from what I have, if I can; and if I'm fortunate enough to get an F1 male with a nice stalk, he gets to pollinate both the No.5 & No.3.

20241026_163358 (1).jpg

I'm super impressed with 'No.1', and may grow her again, depending on the effect & taste; but I'll need to pit her against No.2. The one with the superior effect will get a second run.

I currently lean toward No.2, as the most sativa dominant, which means the No.1 cut will go to a new home, if I can find one for it.

Due to time & space restrictions, 3 cuts is more than enough for me to keep, especially when I start "line-breeding" No.3 and No.5. Would love to grow the SSH & Mango Haze as well, as Swifty's cuts are truly spectacular examples of something very special. Something I'd love to find & keep. It will start to get crowded here very fast.

20241026_163430 (1).jpg20241026_163444 (1).jpg

No.4 has the best stalk by far, and the best yield. If it hadn't been topped and forced the branch out the way she did, her main central cola would have been massive; super thick in girth, and therefore more prone to bud rot in this climate.

If I were a "commercial" grower, trying to sell my herb, I would focus 100% on No.4, and find new homes for the other cuts, if possible. No.4 has huge potential as a high yielder. Would be nice to cross her with an exceptional Critical Mass male.

There will be plenty of seed to work with, if time, space and conditions ever permit; just in case I want to take pollen-chucking to the next level, if I ever gain access to a decent sized green-house.

At any rate, I still have 8 G13Hz seeds left, from the auction. I will definitely grow those before any of the seed I made.

20241026_163506 (1).jpg20241026_163542 (1).jpg

Lastly, No.3 seems to me like she will make some killer hash. I can't wait to find out. I'll keep a nice sized jar of her best buds; and the rest will be for dry sift.

If all goes well, and I get a nice OKQ male, I will definitely cross it with both No.3 & No.5, and line breed those until they're ready to recombine, for enhanced vigor.

Cheers! - FF 😎👍🏻

Going to be a good haul, not rare that a runt later in the run starts to impress people...and you can always reveg a plant if you leave some few sticks and a few lower nugs on and send it on a 24/7 schedule for a month or two.

Thanks for the hint, @Proud Kraut. I appreciate it. My space for re-vegging is very limited, sadly. I'm currently re-vegging No.3, just in case.

BALTHVS : Harvest (2024)

"Stoners" have been known to make the odd mistake, so just in case, I want to make sure I have "the" cut, for certain, before I let her go. I have a No.3 cut, but I might not; but I had 2 numbering schemes:

First I numbered them 1-10 based on one set of critetia; then changed-up the scheme after their sex was clear to me. Do I take the chance that I'm right about my current No.3 cut is "correct"? It might not be, and I will then deeply regret it if I were to let No.3 pass without trying to re-veg her, to make certain she survives. She has her own dedicated tent, because I did not repot her, but opted to leave her in the Earthbox. The second tent will be tied up for at least 2 weeks with the hang-dry.

So, I currently have cuts of No.2, No.3 (?), & No.5. The original No.4 cut did not survive, sadly; even though I took 3 cuts of it. That was unfortunate, but because she turned out so impressive, not I'm feeling "the pain" of losing the cut. So, this is my newly "Revised" Plan:

I'll harvest the top half, and leave the bottom half to go as long as possible, until the second tent is empty and I can move No.4 into it, under a 24 hr light cycle. That will tie-up the tent for a couple months or more, until I can get a tray of cuts. The other tent will is reserved for the Mothers, bless their 'hazey' hearts of fire!!❤️‍🔥

So, after smoking a No.2 doob, I decided she was too good to let go. A proper cure will help clarify my thoughts even more about her merits. Until then, I feel it's wise to keep her cut going. Since No.1 continues to impress me, I'll keep her cut going as well. If they continue to impress after a proper cure and sample analysis, then I'll cross those 2 with OKQ, instead of the No.3 & No.5.

No.3 & No.5 I'll cross with the Purple Satellite, by Green Mountain. That's the current trend of my thinking. One might even call it a dream, in a sense.

Today, btw, is 10/29, 2 days from harvest. At 10AM this morning, it was 18°C (64.4°F) here, and will reach a high of 22°C (71.6°F) at 3PM, where it will remain until sunset. At 12AM, it falls to 18°C (64.4°F), where it will stay until 6AM until sunrise (8:03AM). It rises again to 18°C by 9AM. Tomorrow it reaches a high of 23°C (73.4°F), and drops to a low of 17°C (62.6°F) in the night. Some very good days, temp wise!!

Cheers! - FF 😎👍🏻
