Darwin I understand your points regarding inbreeding possibly being the culprit for the loss in vigor. I also understand why you say Hempys conclusion could be attributable to something else. As I said before you definitely are well educated, as you said however "you need experience in all areas, not just a lot in one to be able to back up your opinions in this area, but hey that's just my opinion.." I agree with your words there, that is why I mention how much experience posters like Hempy and myself have.
And also why I get sick of listening to kids fresh out of UC Davis with a masters in plant genetics who are telling me with ultimate authority that feminized seeds are not going to have any negative effects on the plant population (this is not a direct reference to you, I don't know if you went to UC Davis).
This is the only fact I can count on, humans are for the most part a very egotistical race. We feel that our actions do not have adverse efeects on the earth, that our technologies do not kill us, that our medicines cure us but as time passes from each of those things we find that these things do many of the VERY harmful things our intuition was initially telling us. Climate change/global warming is REAL, cell phones cause cancer, and modern medicine makes us comfortable while it kills us. Thats my opinion
With regards to feminized seeds, there are many educated farmers that see red flags. Not ALL of them are delusional (some certainly are heh) yet most see these warnings.
Most of us here(except Jesse maybe) it would seem are just saying that MAYBE we should be careful and take this slowly, there is still alot to learn on the subject.
With regards to your bias it seems that you possess none of the uncertainty that alot of concerned grower/breeders do towards feminized seed. This makes me think that there are other motivating factors ($) (?) contributing ($) (?) to your strongly oriented opinons.
I could be wrong, I was today like twice already.
If I'am wrong and feminized seeds are OK then well nothing happens to the evolution of the plant and I will gladly say Darwins a f ing genius he KNEW it all along. If you are wrong the consequences are a bit more severe. Please tell me you at least agree with this.?
