Grail: The Ultimate Haze Hybrid

Now that plant looks to be crying out to be crossed with something non-dominant that will bulk her up and shorten the flower time but retain her resin and high. NL5 would be the obvious one but in her absence a good C99 male would be a good bet.

I just went out and looked at it. It wasnt crossed with anything.there are no tags on the branches. It was real late.Too late to pollenate it now. I have a clone of it, and I think about 11 Pollens saved to mix it with. Maybe it needs something to shorten the flower cycle.

But

Sometimes, Even if Shes kinda thin....... If She can make it happen. If She can do magic....... I Love Her just the way She is.

Johnny Potseed

Im having alot of fun over here with this breeding project.
All my friends that come over to party are assigned to roll joints. I bring them tiny ziplocks and tiny tan paper envelopes for the seeds. I then tell them to take every seed they find and write on the outer envelope what it is, and take it home and grow it.
This will help disperse some wild crosses in My area of Cali. Many have Nevilles Haze males as Pollenators.

Just doing my job

Different phenos doesn't indicate instability, as we discussed before and shantibaba affirmed, landraces are always highly variable, they have to be to be adaptable.

Just because it has thin leaves and large calyxes doesn't make it a Thai, it doesn't have deep serrations like many Thais. It reminds me a lot of a Ghanaian I grew called Jahwi's Joy.

One thing you're quite right about though, we don't grow 'thia' that seems to be something that only exists in your garden.

Meanwhile I have grown a few Thais though, got one or two going now...

The Blood I'm aware of was descended from Colombian stock, had that name because it had red sap so looked like it was bleeding if you broke a stem. There's another one called Sangre Negro which is Black Blood, no idea if they are related but it's another Colombian.

The single leaf trait is very common in sativas, lots do it. The Yucatan Mexican I had for years did it, the Zamal/Nev's Haze I had grew single bladed leaves in veg all the time, I wouldn't attribute it to Thais, the Ghanaian I mentioned grew almost nothing but single bladed leaves once it had got going flowering.

I'm not saying there is some similarity between that Maui and some types of Thai but I am saying that it also has similarities to a few other types of sativa from elsewhere. Hawaii had genetic input from many places so there are a lot of possibilities for it's origins, it's probable it's got more than one bloodline in it's ancestry anyways, most Hawaiians are like that, if the fella up the road didn't pick his males in time you ended up with an unexpected hybrid, in the 70s there would have been a ton of pollen floating around and I doubt many of the Hawaiian lines are the same as they were when they arrived.

There could be more than one line called blood.

It really does get tiresome when you act like you know it all but in reality most of what you say is so completely and utterly wrong it makes you seem like all your years of growing 'thia' has taught you almost nothing.

How can I take you seriously when you say things so far wide of the mark as this?

the single leaf one bladed leaf not a common trait found in cannabis BH is it.

If you don't want me to point out how incredibly wrong you are then you must try harder, I just went to my grow and snapped these pics that categorically disprove what you said.

Here are your single bladed leaves that you seem to think are not common and this sativa has never been anywhere near Thailand. As I said, most pure sativas produce single bladed leaves, that is common knowledge.

Your lack of knowledge makes me suspect you haven't grown many different sativas other than this 'thia' you keep talking about.

I'm ready and waiting for your next silly statement, try to make it a little harder for me to refute this time, I like a challenge.

Here is another example of how many sativas share similar traits to the Maui that the good Dr showed us:

Picture_1038.jpg

Characteristic traits evident from this pic would include long thin leaves with single blades, large calyxes and a thin, elongated floral structure.

This is the Ghanaian sativa I spoke of:

And this is 'thia':

Immediately apparent are the same single-bladed leaves, also, they both have a similar floral structure with similarly sized calyxes.

I really think you need to look at other sativas than your 'thia' in order to gain a better overall picture, a lot of what you seem to consider 'thia' traits are a lot more common than you seem to think and don't necessarily indicate Thai bloodlines.

I agree with both of your arguments...Purpurs plant does look like thai I have seen. However, BH is right, the one leaf trait is very common. I have seen it numerous times on sativas and even on hybrids...Lets move on

Yeah, that Maui is interesting but let's not get hung up on it.

Still keenly anticipating the smoke reports from down under...

All I know, is I have about 15 varieties of Haze and Sativas to smoke currently, and I get guests dropping by nightly. Haze makes you popular.

That pheno of Maui did look somewhat Thai like to me as well. It was my first thought. But the smell is like a real sweet real twangy haze. Not the more earthy spice sweet aroma of Thai Ive grown. Its a Real strong odor for a skinny bud plant. Very sticky buds. The double Thai is still going as is the Green Haze/ Thai, These are the straglers.

My son took a wet hit of the Nevilles haze today. (its hanging) He said it was absolutely awesome. He has been watching that plant intently.

I've hardly moved today because I had a couple of grams of SSH finger hash to enjoy...

15ft and looking chunky, do you think that's a NL leaning pheno? How big does NH get in some phenos down there? Over 20ft I'm guessing.

Looks delicious...

There's definitely a strong lean to the NL side of the Nev's Haze to that one, in my eyes. She's a real looker, Bushweed, and has me both salivating and reaching for a jar of my own Haze.

Does Nevil try to pull rank by telling you guys he gets to smoke as much as he wants of any plant with his name attached? :D

Aye, we both think alike on that one, glad I have a spliff of SSH in my hand right now otherwise I'd be highly jealous!

Question is, is this a pheno that has the NL growth but the Haze high? I remember Nev said the 10 week NL phenos did pop out from time to time so keen to hear a smoke report on this lady.

Well, wouldn't you? lol

I think I might be tempted to....

Depends how good the other stuff is, the MM, Oax etc might be better???

Nice argument to have though - which jar of mind-blowing sativa gets chonged first! hehe, hope you guys are having a blast!
