100% Exodus Cheese

Maybe getting the crickets high to the eyeballs is a good idea so they are easier to catch when they are off their faces.

We usually just open the corner of the container and the crickets just hop out into the tank.. Some people put them in an empty coke bottle so when it comes to feeding time its easier to get them into the tank.. Many a time we have had crickets go awol and we hear them chirping round the house for days till the dog or kids get them!!

I am fully up for breeding/crossing this strain but its just a case of setting everything up or getting some male pollen sorted..

I'm sure I'll get the hang of dealing with the crickets, how long should I wait until I feed Denis again?

I'm just assuming he ate the one I gave him as I sat it on top of the half plant pot and a few hours later it had gone, he might have knocked it off onto the coco I suppose rather than eating it.

He seems to be regulating his body temp by moving back and forth a bit between the bright warm and dark cooler areas, he seems happy enough.

I don't have any males I'm planning to do anything with right now, I pulled all the ones I found in my current batch including a nice looking SSH male which might have been a bit premature as SSH pollen could have been useful. If I do find any nice males in the near future I can always send ya some pollen. Even a tiny bit of male dust can make dozens of seeds. The main reason I try to make seeds with every keeper cutting that passes my way is I've lost a ton of genes that I only had as a cutting in the past and if I make a few seeds it means I have a backup of those genes just in case.

I have successfully made colloidal silver and make S1s in the past. If you fancy selfing your Cheese anytime I can teach you how to do it. I can always make some CS and send it to ya or if you are the handy type of chap you can DIY it with an old DC adapter and some silver wire, I get my silver wire on the internet dirt cheap, you just need some distilled water which is about 2 quid for 2.5 litres in Tesco and a glass jar. You spray it on the plant a few times when you firs put it into 12/12 and it will produce male sacks and pollinate itself.

We usually feed twice a week. I would put in a live cricket anyway just in-case has has knocked it off. He will just leave it if he isn't hungry. The temps you mentioned sound about right so he will just do his own thing. sometimes they try and move things about and will dig holes too.. Funny little creatures..

Thanks for the offer mate. I have loads of DC adapters and like to partake in the odd DIY and Gheto building myself. Is the silver wire the stuff people used to use for Fuseboxes? I think we have some kicking about. I will give it a go. It will have to be done on the plants that go into the hydro system. I might pollinate just one to see what happens and go from there..

The wire has to be 99.9% pure siler. I have some here I can spare. I have a litre of CS I made I can also spare.

I can tell you precisely how to make some if you want to DIY it, it's really nothing more than putting two silver electrodes in a jar of water, hooking up a DC source and letting it brew overnight.

BTW, I've had to change one of those old style fuse wires in the dark with a torch in my teeth more than once, thank god we have resetable breaker boxes these days! Removing a small piece of wire from brass screw terminals, finding the right replacement fuse wire in the garage then cutting a piece off and managing to insert it in the holder and screwed in place is not what I'd call fun!

Cheers once again British_Hempire - I will give it a go myself and then if I fail misserably I will give you a shout :)

I used to live in a place that had some of those old fuses and used to do my head in.. Scared the shit outa me every time I needed to change the fuses..

Thanks British_Hempire mate.

Half way through Week 6 Things still looking real nice up there and nothing negative to report. To the eye it seems the plants are not swelling much but from the pics I can see something is going on. I should go back to grabbing pics every week as you can get a better idea of whats going on.

The Kiwi Seeds plants are going well. I changed the Lighting in the Veg room etc to 18/6 and the plants are starting to show signs of sex. I think out of the 4 there are two males and 2 females but as you know when they are in early signs of showing sex they can trick the eye. I am still undecided on keeping one of the males. I will have to see if I want to do some breeding.

The 25 Clones I took seem to be doing well. I think they should show roots in a few days as and then I can get this other hydro shit going. Its been just over 1 week since I took them so shouldn't expect miracles hey? They have only been sprayed with plain water. As soon as they root they will get a dose of Rhizotonic and then into the X-Streem

Also I am very happy to have the seeds that British_Hempire sorted for me. I think I am going to germinate the Black Widow seeds. They are quite old stock but I am sure they will be okay..

All looking good mate, the Cheese looks very nice and you should have a nice harvest, some lovely colas. I bet it absolutely stinks in that tent!

The Mt Cook look the picture of health, pretty indica leaning too.

I had a wee panic when I woke up today, noticed the clones I have rooted had all wilted, they looked perfect when I went to bed. I soon realised why, I'd knocked the lid so it wasn't quite in the right place and this had let warm dry air in and dried them out. I misted them and they are perking up again. Silly mistake. I need to get a new prop as the one I'm using is the cheapest piece of crap you can buy and the lid isn't a tight fit.

Very glad the seeds made it safely, all 3 packs were gifts to me from kind souls so it is only right if I can't find time and space for them I pass them on to someone who does, seeds are made to be grown, not sit in someone's stash.

I still can't upload pics, it gives me an error, I'll keep trying, I want you to see that I am looking after Denis properly and get some feedback on anything I might be doing wrong. He seems happy enough.

I am used to HUGE colas in my loft. I think this will be the smallest yielding grow I have ever done although I could be in for a shock as I have not had buds this hard before. If I squeeze them there is no "give" in them at all.. Even the lower buds that are not getting much light.

I have now started using the MPK - It does not seem to raise the EC that much with the same measurement as Grotek

I need to borrow some scales as I only have the needle type ones..

Thats a bit weird that you cant upload pics mate.. I have tried a few times now and its all good.

Nice to hear you didn't loose your clones mate.. I have just started being able to leave the lid off for 24 hours and they seem to be hardening off well.

I need to get the Mt-Cook into the flower room. I am more certain now about the sex of 2 of them. 1 is looking more like a male and 1 has not shown sex yet so I am guessing its a fem as they are a bit more reluctant to show their bits :)

I hope the final harvest isn't disappointing for ya, Cheese isn't a big yielder, I'd call it medium, but it has the quality to make up for a little lost yield. If you really like the smoke of this Cheese, maybe hitting it with some NLX pollen would be the best route to bumping up it's yield as the NLX is a monster yielder. I will have some pollen from my SSH male in a couple of weeks I hope, always happy to share some, it can be kept for a few weeks in the freezer.

Great news that they are already rock hard, the MPK will only add to that.

Wierd that it doesn't seem to change EC like the Grotek, raw MPK is 0-52-34 so the same as the Grotek, except Grotek do what many manufacturers do and round it off to 0-50-30.

Maybe you would be better making up a stock solution from the MPK, add 150g of it to a litre of water and that should give you a similar strength to a bottle of PK13-14 almost. I have Sulphate of Potash I could let you have to add to it so you can get the 1:2 P to K ratio you need for maximum resin production. I have the precise gram figures somewhere to achieve a liquid with an NPK of 0-9-18 same as I use and it really does give noticeably more resin than PK13-14.

The pic upload isn't giving me an error now so here's the pics of Denis on his first night here. Today I added a nice bit tree root and a half coconut to hide in. He has burrowed into the coco under the coconut, well, he's made a depression the size of his body and an inch or so deep. Since I put the coconut in instead of the half plant pot he hasn't come out of it, I might remove the coconut for a while to see if he moves around, concerns me a little that he hasn't moved today, he is still alive as he moved his legs a tad when I swapped the pot for the coconut. Overnight the temp in his tank had dropped to 18.2C, I turned the halogen light on and it is now 23.1C in there, I expected him to come out and bask in the heat and light but he hasn't shifted. Might try to entice him out with a live cricket later.

Wow mate.. Dennis is looking sound. He has quite a nice pad now compared to his chicken coop he was in.

The temps might be a bit low as they prefer 22C - 28C - anything below and they become lethargic.

I wouldn't worry about him coming out as they like to sometimes sit and do nothing for ages. He could be getting ready to shed his skin as they do that quite often. If you notice them shedding. Try to not put any crickets in there as they can sometimes go for the tender fresh skin on the spider.

You could always get him out and handle him :) - they are real gentle and now is the perfect time to get them used to it.

Here is an ideal site with ALL the information you need and real simple too..

http://www.thebts.co.uk/keeping_tarantulas.html

Don't get me wrong about the cheese. I don't mind if the yield is down but its just weird growing something that I am not amazed by the bud production. I will monitor the MPK over the next few days to see how it affects the plants. I have a picture from the day before so will grab one next week and see if there is an increase.

I am going to have a proper crack at some hobby breeding. Who knows where it will go or if it will even work. I still have the whole other side of the loft that is already built into a grow room that I can use. It just needs a good cleaning. It used to have all my mother plants in there. Its a bit of a pain to get to. I will probably finish it off this eve.

Looks like you have everything you need to do some nice breeding projects, if I can help in any way please ask, I've done more than little dabbling in such things, although I expect you won't need much help, you seem to have everything sorted.

I'm going to get a heat pad for Denis soon, waht to keep him nice and warm through winter.

Thanks for the tip on crickets, I read the same on a webpage I was reading on keeping Chilean Tarantulas.

Here's some pics of the upgrades to his accomodation, the root should give him plenty of spaces to explore and hide in, the hole in the coconut is a bit small I think, when he gets a bit bigger I'll enlarge the hole a bit.

I will start handling him soon so he gets used to it, I'm still a little skittish but I'm sure I'll soon get used to it.

I dumped 5 dead crickets in the tank yesterday and he completely ignored them, so either he did eat the first one and isn't hungry or he won't eat em dead. Next one I'll give him will be live, I'll put it in the tank tomorrow and see what happens. I'm keen to see him hunting.

He just came out of his coconut house to have a bask on the log. temps are a bit low for him so I'll get a heat mat in the next couple of days. I'm pleased he has dug a little hole for himself under the 'hide' I think that shows he is already making himself at home.

Gotta try to remember it might not be a he, if it's a she, I'll still call it Denis, just have to spell it 'Denise' lol.

i find cheese yeilds great . its all down to how u grow it .. LST AND TOPPING is a must for big yeilds ... my first run i got 17 oz 14g from 2 plants under a 400w hps in a 1 m sq budbox

I'm not surprised you pulled off that kind of harvest, always been impressed with your numbers, over a lb off a 400 is great going, I've yet to manage that although I have pulled 235g off a 250 so I should be able to get over 350 off a 400 eventually, my problem is I run some right mixed backs of plants at the same time, indicas, sats, all crammed together so I have the quality aspect nailed through years of experience but the quantity often leaves some room for improvement. I got 150g off a 400 earlier this year which annoyed me, I tried a soil mix just because it had been years since I ran soil, the quality was fantastic but I ran out before my next crop.

You only need a small pad for one half the tank. We find its best to feed less then too much otherwise you end up with dead crickets all round the tank and can cause mould and other probs. Also try not have too many places for the crickets to hide :) - When you put live ones in they will do their best to stay alive. We have seen them trying to stay on a spiders back before!

I am happy he has decided to wake up and go for a mooch but dont panic if they don't as sometimes we find they can go days when they seem to be in the same place.

Cool, I'll make sure to not overfeed, I removed the dead ones as soon as I realised he wasn't interested in them, he walked right over them many times and spent a while sat on them. He's exploring the small cave at the front of the tree root atm. Sadly with the root in there there are a ton of places for a cricket to hide so I may take it out when I put a cricket in and replace it after Denis has caught and devoured the little sod.

I'll find a heat pad the right size, I'll go see what the local petshop has tomorrow.

I'm being a bit over worrisome atm as this is all new to me, I keep reminding myself he comes from the Atacama desert so must be pretty tough!

That's what I like to hear. Small hobby breeders can make tremendous progress if they remain focussed on their goals.

I used to have a Tarantula. He(?) lived for 5 years on a cricket every 2 or 3 days. When he died, I put him in some polyester resin.

Haha yea they are super tough and they seem to just get on with it. I always wonder what they must think about humans..

The missus saw your pics and she was very happy to see how well you have set them up. She even called me a cruel bastard because we keep ours sort of cramped etc..

Well I am in a place in my life where I gain much pleasure from things that most people would overlook as insignificant. I think if I get started and get the ball rolling then I should be okay. Its just the first step thats a bit daunting.

Nice to hear about the Tarantulas Nevil. Did you get him as a Juvenile? Do you know what type it was? Thats a great idea about the resin. I remember resin from when we were kids and we used to ding our surfboards and have to repair them.. Brings back memories.

Evening.. Nice quiet night in for me this evening. Missus has gone to a house warming and the kids are away at their nans house.

I changed the rez two days ago and Swapped to the MPK (mono potassium phosphate) Powder instead of Grotek Monster Bloom.

Some bad news.. The Feminized seeds I am expecting did not arrive today so wont be able to pop them till Monday.

Some good news.. We now have roots on some clones so need to leave them for a few days and then I will get them into the X-Streem.. I am quite exited at the thought of getting that aero thing going.. At first sign of roots I added some Rhizotonic and soaked the cubes so we should see some fast growth..

In the rez I put

2 and a half scoops Chempak 4
1 Scoop MPK
Some PH Down

EC 1.4
PH 5.9

Min Temps 21C
Max Temps 27C
