100% Exodus Cheese

Hi again Matt,

The loft is insulated completely you can see how I built my first grow room in the loft here

http://www.mrnice.nl/forum/showthread.php?t=581

I try and keep temps below 27C so if you think 27C through an insulated and plasterboard roof, felt and tiles will probably just look normal.. Think about all those twats who have loft conversions for their extra room or study's etc. They have radiators and shit up there.. You never hear of them being "busted" from heat sig as they surely will give off more then what 2 x 600w is throwing off..

I am not sure of those Lights mate so cant comment.. Never heard of them. They look interesting so I might have a read up on them

hi Doobz

nice work with the loft and good luck with the NLxBW

hey mad matt,

2 of those 'NEW-TECH' 150HPS/MH digital ballasts are claimed to be able to produce 'same results' as a 600 digital ballast..?? hmmm..smells like BS to me..
It only says high lumen output in the description but I see no specific number anywhere! ;)

All that is empisized , is the low amp rating/energy consumption of this unit compared to 600w digital ballast HPS/MH lighting systems..
...Well..of course the amp rating will be much less..you are using less energy...
..But you..produce less light!
"In real terms you could run five Minimax 150 units for the same power consumption as one 600w digital unit. If you are using old magnetic 600w ballasts you can run 11 of these."

"The 600w Digi ballast is rated at 2.75amp whereas the MINIMAX 150 is rated at 0.64amp"
Since the MINIMAX 150 is at 0.64amps , if we do the math and multiply with 220-240Volts we get about 150W power consumption.
The 600W digital ballast is rated at 2,75amps so for 220-240V , power consuption is about 600w.
..So I m not sure what they try to say with mentioning the low amp rating of this low wattage HPS/MH system..

Considering the above calculations, the statement below in the quote is pure BS.Cause 1 x 600 = 600W. (real total consumption with digital ballasts is about 630-650W)
5 x 150w MINIMAX =750W ..

Even if you use magnetic 600w ballasts total energy consumption is more like 650-700watt..so claiming that you could use 11 MINIMAX 150 units as a replacement for a 600w magnetic ballast is also BS! 11 MINIMAX 150 systems would have power consumption over 1500-1600Watts!!! So I dont see why one would use these instead of 2-3 600watters or a 1k+1x600w??..

In real terms you could run five Minimax 150 units for the same power consumption as one 600w digital unit. If you are using old magnetic 600w ballasts you can run 11 of these.
..So unless these systems from MINIMAX systems produce more lummens per watt of electricity used (HIGHLY unlikely) compared to other 600w digiballast systems , with 5 of their MINIMAX 150 systems you are actully gonna be using more total power consumption with these ! Not less! Plus the increased penetration the 600w systems offer give them a great advantage..

Test results have shown that two MINIMAX 150 units produce larger yields than any one 600w Digital unit.
I would love to see some side by side grows..or at least specific lummen output(with specific bulbs)...
..till then..I say its all BS claims!

i googled the minimax lights and looked at pics of it in operation and watched a video ,,, looked to me like they are about as good as any 150 , and thats not very good

the video showed it above a plant and holy hell i could hardly tell there was a light on

dont fall for the tactics of good talkers/salesmen mad matt

now if they offerd 400 , 600 , and 1000 and cut energy consumption and heat then id check into pricing and possibly buy a couple

I totally agree with you guys, sounds to good to be true and im one of the hardest people to convince.

However i know someone who has used 4 on ten plants, he would normally use two 600w. He claims they worked far better and took just over 2k from ten plants and has now swapped all his lights for these..

By no means am i saying everyone should throw their old lights away and buy these. But i for one will buy a dozen and do the side by side grow to see the results myself... If there shit then trust me, il be the first to say it....

Thanks Doobz..

If the old bill fly over your house they wont see your roof warming up they see through the roof and pick the heat from the two lights...

There was a program on bbc 3/4 a few weeks ago about the filth flying out to look for grows. They would fly over a building/house and you could see the lights in uniform rows, it was like the roof wasnt even there... They pick up the heat from each individual light..

The funny thing was they didnt have the resources to watch the properties or put surveillance on the. So after finding them they would go round the following day and raid them. If no one was there they would leave a note asking the growers to hand themselves in lmao....

I am sure with adequate insulation and preparation this is not as easy to pick up as the cops make out. Scare Tactics are what makes the U.K such a crap place to live as most the country are living in fear of some BS that the govt is forcing into the minds of the idiots who believe it.

The houses they used the "FLIR" Forward Looking Infa Red on probably were just being used without any insulation etc.. At least this is what I am hoping as I have been up in my loft for a good while and never heard a chopper doing sweeps..

So now that we have the crazy lights and helicopter stuff out the way I have some news on the seeds that went in yesterday.

5 of the 10 are showing little tails and I think the others are close to splitting too.. I have prepared the coco pellets with boiling water just in-case there were any nasties in them. The Pellets are in the veg cabinet waiting to have the seeds dropped into them which will probably be later this evening.

I wish I had a macro lens for my SLR so I could grab some pics of the seeds and get some decent bud shots of the cheese. The kids broke my last lens by accident when one of them dropped it. I might see if I can get it working. Since they dropped it, there is a rattling noise inside. Maybe something has come loose. I will have a go to try and resurrect it..

What size is the thread on your best lens for close-ups? I have some screw on macro lenses/filters that work a treat, not got a camera to put em on anymore so would be happy to pass em on.

150W Ceramic Metal Halides are 15 quid inc shipping from ebay, they work good for tiny spaces.

Hiya British_Hempire, I am not too sure bro... I will have a look in a bitski.. I should know because I have been fiddling with the damn thing for about 3 hours.

I finally managed to get the damn lense working enough to take pics. Before it was stuck in one focal length so was kinda jammed. I carefully took the thing apart and found a small cog/sprocket that had its spindle broken off. I found some super glue and glued it back on and it seems to be okay. Only problem is I think the cog had to be centered as the camera will only autofocus outwards and not inwards. No biggie as I can just manually move the barrel back again.. I think I am a few shades grayer after doing that..

I grabbed some pics for good measure..

Congrats on fixing the lens!

Those shots are fantastic, tons of resin.

Yeah sorry to jack your thread mate, i hate doing that...

Fantastic new pictures.....

I am not 100% sure mate - I will have a look a bit later but I am sure its something I would remember if they did.. I am kind of resigned now to the fact that this might not in fact be the Exodus cut but still has that cheesy odor and its so resinous I am not complaining at all..

nice photos ... has the plants got double serrated leaves?? the older mature leafs ? i can tell from the pics ...

nice plants Doobz. i wouldnt worry about not having the exodus cut mate. i don't no what cheese you have it's not big budda cheese ether. but it is a nice cheese all the same. maybe a hybrid of the two looks that way who knows who care's mate. your going to have some nice buds and that's what mater's.;)

very true words brock - I have grown Big Buddha Cheese before and its no where near as resinous as this. The Big Buddha was also very quick to finish..

Hi again ukCheesehead, I love the info your posting mate as I am learning what to look for in the future. I think there were 1 or 2 serated sections on some leaves. I am going to go up now and have a look and will report back shortly..

Thanks again..
Doobz

I have seen that cutting you have before, no idea what it is, it just gets called Cheese. It's much better than the Exodus imho.

Here are some pics of the Exodus Cheese buds, not the best as i had to take em down at 55 days cos I realised my carbon filter needed replacing and the stink from these was incredible, nearly got me bust.

You can see how the Exodus has the 'fat foxtails' structure whereas the other one is more pointy in overall shape and doesn't foxtail. I'd take your one over the Exodus one any day as I don't care for the taste, smell or effect of the Exodus cutting, it's typical sweet Dutch Skunk and I really don't like Skunks much. Note how the Exodus has less resin by a fair margin than yours.

I can get hold of the Exodus for ya in the near future, I'll ask my friends next time I see em to sort me a cut of it out and pass it on. I could have given ya The Blues but it turned out to be a fake so I binned it.

cool ., but just because u have serated leafs it dont mean u have the uk cut. to me it dont look like uk cheese but i maybe wrong .

how does it grow ? upwards ? or outwards ? is the spaceing between the internodes zig zag style ? not straight ? looks good anyways so dont worry .
we will be tell you more in a cpl of weeks time .
when u flipped 12/12 did it strech loads or stay real short ???

Hi again mate,

I was quite surprised by the lack of stretch when it was flipped. Here is a pic after the stretch had stopped. I think this was week 2

Here is a pic from this evening of one of the older lower leaves..

British_Hempire, Nice one for the info once again mate.. I had a pheno almost exactly like that when I grew Big Buddha Cheese out but I thought it was sick because of the way it had TONS of leaves and very small weird foxtailing buds like that. I will see if I can dig out a pic..

The foxtailing is very pronounced on the example I showed because it was grown in a low lumens setup as I had too many plants packed in, but it shows the typical Exodus structure very well.

Hiya British_Hempire I hope your well.. Hows the chest? From what I remember from this particular Weird Pheno of Big Buddha Cheese, was the buds were almost crunchy and had a sharp texture to the calaxys. Almost sharp

Its been a weird day today. We have had Frost, Sun, Rain, Hail and Snow..

I also checked the Clones to go into the aero system and I have 20 that have nice roots and are ready to go.. I am a happy man as its like the start of a new adventure. I have NO idea what I am doing which means I am going to be learning..

The clones look real nice and healthy. I need to keep an eye on the EC because I am unsure how the plants like this Chempak in Aero. I am going to manually turn the pump on for the time being every few hours till the roots are more established. I need to get a recycle timer that I can set for 1 min on 5 off.

I also need to put some sort of plastic on top of those net pots otherwise I can see fungus might be a problem. I have the neoprene collars but some of the clones are a bit crooked so the collars don't sit right.

I think the Cheese Plants have a few more weeks left but will not rush them as they are still looking so nice. One thing I notice is there is not much new production of fresh pistils. there is some but not much..
