Northern Lights

Aloha, The Northern Lights Crew was very small because of intense police pressure. It was all people from the Bellingham, Seattle, Olympia, and Portland area. And we were real wary of anyone who was not known. Paranoia ruled for good reasons as Nevil and Marc Emory found out.

hi greg,

i was just wondering if u have run shantis ortega. if u did what r ur thoughts on it. in ur opinion is it northern lights?

a new chapter?

It looks like there's a whole new chapter to this book now?
It kills me on these threads, right when things get interesting the trail goes cold. I guess no one cares to argue with this guy? hahahha

okay, so if I could ask one question about northern lights...

I'm sure you're not in the market of buying seeds, but have you seen a "close" version of Northern Lights in seed form? Which company has gotten closest to YOUR NORTHERN LIGHTS? and is Northern Lights the name it goes by in your circle?

The reason I ask about the name is because I got some AFGhooey from Seattle and it was too date the sleepiest most narcotic smoke I've ever experienced. Like smoking Nyquil. So I was just kinda wondering if you had your hand in that strain?

the only Northern Lights I have smoked was from a dispensary and it was on the SATIVA shelf, which made me laugh in the first place. So I don't have much experience with it. I get the feeling I'm missing out. Hopefully someday I will get to experience the real deal.

Anyways, tell us more please! I sifted through page after page of bullshit and name calling to get to these last two pages of REAL INFORMATION!

Aloha Greg,

Thanks for the info on the origins of NL interesting read. I remember running that gear outside here in Michigan back in the late 80\90's would love to have that pine \ skunk rock solid nugs back in my possession..

I for one would like to know where one can obtain this gear? Or a close proximity...

G`day Greg

I`ve been reading the thread from the beginning again .

I knew Nevil made a lot of NL crosses but jeez !

Cannabis Indica 'Northern Lights'
Northern Lights "9" x Skunk "1" F1 Hybrid
Northern Lights x Afghani "1" F1 Hybrid
Northern Lights #132A

Northern Lights #2
Northern Lights 1
Northern Lights 5 x Northern Lights 2
Northern Lights 5 x SK1 F-1 Hybrid
Northern Lights Mix

Haze x Northern Lights F-1 Hybrid
Northern Lights #1
Northern Lights #2
Northern Lights 5 x 2
Northern Lights 5 x Skunk #1 F-1 Hybrid

Hash Plant x Northern Lights #1 F-1 Hybrid
Hashplant/Northern Lights #1 x Swazi
Northern Lights #1 F-3
Northern Lights #2 F-3
Northern Lights #5 x Haze F-1 Hybrid
Northern Lights #5 x Skunk #1 F-1 Hybrid
Northern Lights 5 x 2 F-1 Hybrid

The two I`ve highlighted catch my eye .
Nevil crossed the NL #1 back to the Afghani #1 ?

And any clues on the #132 A ?

Nembutal and scotch . Sounds like a tough existence .

Aloha, With the pure strain wide leaved short Afghan strains in Seattle pure strain seed started showing up in the mid 1970s the same time we were working out the details for HID lighting indoors. Nevil had the one he collected and the NL 1 & 2 from Seattle. Ask Nevil I have no clue what he did and it is real hard to speculate after all these years.

Thanks for chiming in Greg.

May we ask what other strains you've bred?
Aloha, Indoors in Seattle we continued to add and breed new genetics from the Prince of Pot in Vancouver and from The Netherlands from Harlyne, Arjan, and bag seed from Katsu Coffee was tested in Washington State indoor conditions. Then I moved to Hawai'i with free light and heat 12 months out of the year.

So basically you did what we all dream of, grow pot long enough to make it big and get out it time to save yourself. I'd say Hawaii is a pretty nice place to retire :) plus I'm sure you do alright over there still too! Good to have you around Greg and thanks for breeding such nice genetics

An interesting history...

My little brother had one of those old Seed Bank catalogs back in the mid-late 80s, I first saw it when home on leave from the Army, I was all :D

If I recall, the description for one of the Haze x NL crosses warned of potential for loss of bowel and bladder control.

That catalog planted a seed in my head, and it took 26 years to germinate, but I finally ordered stock through the mail. :o I selected MNS in a few flavors, and look forward to trying more. An OG NL cut would be too cool

Happy Growing!

Urban legend .
I`ve smoked the C5 and Nevil`s cut of NVL`Hz . The Nevil`s Hz is damn strong . Your not likely to have problems in your pants though .In your mind more probable . Like thinking the cops are about to raid and flushing your stash . yeah .

Hash Plant Hz x Hz AC ,Nevil`s Hz , C5 , C5 x Ortega , AG13 Amsterdam 2013 .

G`day Greg

You know this fella ?

Wolf Segal

Farmer in the Sky Radio Hour -

1985 I tell a guy in Seattle named Greg about SoG and, a few weeks later, on a trip to Holland, while taking him the Northern Lights seeds which would kickstart the Dutch seed industry he tells his friend Neville about it. Yes, I mean Neville of Seed Bank fame. This is probably why some people are confused about where SoG came into use in phytotronic cannabiculture.

G'day Greg,

Thanks for all the details man.... Its been way to long a journey trying to seek out the "real" truth bout the strain.... Im like Mary... Every little detail matters :)

I've been following closely...And I must admit, I didn't have a clue about the haw in #5. Quite interesting. Do you know much about said Haw? Can you tell me what island its from?
And if I may be so bold:) do you still run your cut? Is your #5 still with you? Lastly, what did you consider to be the best of NL. Was it indeed #5? Id love to hear your thoughts and apreciate any comments you would be willing to make.
Much love.

Aloha, Here is the way I traded for the original NL #5. After I was gifted 4 wide leaved pure afghani seeds I went to seed and started the Luther Burbank selection process to get superior female cuttings. I traded with my friend Herbie my pure strains and was blessed with one very nice mama that I took to seed and named #5. Having bud ,seed and cuttings of #5 was also nice! & then came Nevil and getting the seed for the medicine to my Vietnam Veteran Brothers and others who needed it. Herbie and i never went into detail and he said indica x hawaiian. Looking at the hybrid vigor it was a nice mix.

Aloha, Due to intense police pressure the NL #5 was lost after it had been shipped to the Netherlands to Nevil. Thanks to Ben, Nevil, Arjan, and Shantibaba this genetic base will be around for a long time. Here in Hawai'i i grow seed 95% of the time in my work.

hi greg,

i notice u keep giving credit to ben and arjan for keeping the genetic base around. anyone will tell u ben has let sensi seeds go to crap and the varities r not what they once were. arjan isnt a breeder or grower just a business man. the genetics he offers r inferior. im just sayin. not tryin to be a dick just tryin to inform u.
