well i have 3 CBG punto rojo seedlings going, maybe ill find something nice there.
I have known two people that have smoked black african.
I could probably get my hands on a malawi haze hybrid if i wanted...
and the kerala is probably in the widow. i havent gotten in to the white lines yet but i have two packs of shark shock to go through sometime soon.
but again, id really like to smoke something that i couldnt take more than a few hits. i can take a few hits of hash, and no weed will match that.
i do agree that there could be other chemicals in play that make for a real quality smoke.
I know this is an old thread, but I'm going to use my 1st post here to respond to this jack hairy dude, even though he's banned.
1) Circa 1993-96, there was a strain of skunk circulating in the southeast, known locally as "The Bell Weed." You could NOT finish a joint of this skunk. It is, to this day, the strongest weed I ever smoked, including OG Chem strains that topped 30%, Blueberry that topped 32%, and "Haze x Skunk," that would make you dizzy. None compared to "Bell Weed." A fat bong hit would satisfy any heavy user. Two would incapacitate you. A joint would force you to lie down (or vomit).
2) The Bell Weed skunk was rumored to be "Virginia Skunk" (some say KY Skunk) x a true Afghan Kush. The plants grew colas as large as your arm, and the cured bud could be smelled from a block away, UP WIND. There was no way to disguise the pure, skunk spray scent.
I've smoked hash, oil, dabs, diamonds, etc. NONE of them have the crippling ability of a couple of tokes of the Bell. My friends from HS/college to this day still chase anything remotely close. The closest (stone wise) was some OG Chemdawg I scored on a trip to WA, but it didn't have the skunky spray scent, and it fell short of the INSTANT "behind the eyes" feeling the Bell Weed produced. The 2nd closest was some GG#4 from around 2017-2019, but it lacked the same knockout punch as Bell. I'd say top-shelf GG4 was about half as strong as Bell Weed, and 10% as smelly.
Bell was possibly the finest pot I'll ever encounter. Period.
I have a hunch this locally notorious strain was a cross of what people today call Roadkill Skunk, plus Thai and Afghan. That, or NL #5 x Roadkill. The plants were enormous. It wasn't uncommon to score a 1-bud ounce. It reeked the entire house up, even sealed in jars, packed in multiple Tupperware containers. It was magical.
I see reports of similar skunk from KY, Maine, and even the Ohio River Valley, as well as Gainesville, FL, all around the early-mid 90s.
I'm 100% certain this weed probably topped-out around 18-20% THC, max, butnthe other cannabinoids involved made it a true narcotic.
Novices were not able to partake. Seasoned smokers were calling a cab after a couple of hits, rather than drive. It was dubbed, "Green Heroin" by a few folks in the ECU/greenville area of NC.
ANYWAY, I know dozens of locals who would trade a QP of GSC, GG #4, etc., for a quarter oz of legit "Bell Weed" skunk. One friend from ECU spent weeks in Amsterdam, and complained upon coming back to NC that,, "Not one bud I tried came close to Bell Weed."
When and if I'm able to crack the code to that strain (it's out there in a film container in someone's freezer, I pray), I will feel like I won the lottery.
Until then, if I want the same effect, it takes about 6 tugs from a decent vape pen to rival a SINGLE cougher from the Bell Weed. Hash, vapes, etc., hardly get me off in comparison.
Anyone assuming "skunk bud wasn't really that good" was not around NC in the 90s. We took it to Grateful Dead shows, and even the most seasoned stoners BEGGED for more.
When the Bell Weed stopped coming around, everyone here was moping for over a year. A true legend.
