The premiere with SSH from seed

I love sitting alone in front of these buds. Good skunk often looked like this back in the day. Visually, this stuff already transports me back in time. This is simply what I imagine old-school to be. And in eight weeks, she'll deliver that old-school high too. Good things take time. ✌️
What were the trichomes like qhen you harvested? 8 weeks seems very fast for a SSH.

It looks really promising. It also feels really oily. That's why I don't understand why an oil donut doesn't form when I smoke it. The flavor completely disappeared. My mother even said the room smelled like burnt hay.

I'd say that's not a good sign, is it?✌️
I've had bud that when not dried properly, jarred too early, have performed similarly. I always found that when it happens it takes alot more curing to ahine, than when dried properly. I would take @Swifty suggestions. See if they help.

The only SSH I grew which had no flavor, also had no aroma while flowering. If youra smelled great while growing, you may be able to salvage them with a longer and more attentive cure. I've had mqny times wherw something will sit in a for for a year or more and been flavorless or tasted of hay. When I finally began breaking into the jar regularly and they were able to offgass properly, all of the sudden the flavor would improve and become stronger.

Good luck with your Purple SSH. Don't lose hope!

Hey Diesel @840! It was in flowering for exactly 14 weeks. Harvested on day 99! Don't worry, I haven't given up hope. The way it looks tells me I'll definitely find my psychedelic dream with Mr. Nice. I put more effort into the drying process than I have in a long time. For example, I opened it daily for the first five days in the jar. On the fifth day, I added an Integra Boost 62%. From the moment the Integra 62% was in the jar, the strong smell disappeared, which I'm used to. But not almost completely. I tested it today after getting up. 12 hours without any other weed! I can only hope something will still happen. That "light on" effect is completely absent. I didn't even want to finish smoking it. The pipe was also a bust. I'll let it rest now and try it again in a few weeks.

Like I said, I was hoping for it! But with only two seeds, I'm not disappointed.✌️

@Mate Dave ! That sounds incredibly good.

I can't exactly say I'm a big fan of the Haze flavor. For me, it's all about the effect. Not that I haven't smoked some delicious-tasting Haze before. What you described about the tent and the smell... I only experienced that once before with an Agent Orange. You could still smell it in the tent months later. That sour orange whiskey note was amazing. Not a killer strain! But a flavor and aroma bomb! I definitely need to get to know Sativa/Haze hybrids better. The plants that work best for me during the grow are usually the ones that turn out to be the worst. ✌️

Thanks to you too, @Swifty !

I haven't given up hope yet. With the old Kali Mist, nothing happened until the eighth week of storage. So I'm still really hoping something will change. I usually leave the bud I'm testing out to air overnight before going to sleep, since it's the best time for me, as a long-term user/patient/consumer, to assess things in the morning. Which isn't quite so simple, since so many factors come into play. I can only really judge the effects of a weed after I've used it for a longer period of time.
To me, it looks magical. Compared to what I usually keep in jars. It really looks like it did back then! When I was often so overwhelmed/paranoid by the high that we guys often threw it away. Because at 15, we thought, "This can't be ganja!" Then you guys read your smoking reports here on the forum 🤤.

Naturally, the expectations are high.

The most important thing is that I'm finally on the right track.

Yesterday and today, I was tempted again to smoke some of that lovely SSH. It smokes well, but the flavor is extremely bland. Even the aroma is hard to describe—though people with a better sense of smell than mine (who don't smoke cannabis) called it fruity. I can't quite agree with that; to me, it has a subtle citrus scent, sweet and woody. When smoking, the denser buds are better than the fluffy ones. Half the main cola was fluffy, while the lower part was dense—perhaps too much light? Unfortunately, when you come back into the room after smoking, it doesn't smell like high-quality SSH Haze. I really can't imagine it improving significantly if I let it cure until Christmas. I’m not disappointed with the potential of this SSH genetics, though; I could still see what it’s capable of. I ended up with 59g in the jar. So far, I’ve only had two plants that yielded over 130g dry despite minimal vegetative growth: Killer A5 Haze (148g) and Bangi Haze (138g). But what’s the point if you don’t want to smoke it? Obviously, if it lacks flavor, it lacks potency too—except for the fact that it allows for great focus. I gave some to a friend who used to be a heavy smoker of high-quality weed. He said he didn't want to complain about a gift, but the appearance had promised more! It barely had any effect on him, either. The five cuttings I took all rooted through the Bio Plugs within seven days. The male is a bit slower to root. I’m going to grow one or two more alongside the SSH x AC.

Sorry to hear Schlawiener, she looked very promising but looks can be decieving I guess.
Don't give up on this line, there is much better to be found.
I hope you will smoke her again in a few months, pherhaps she might surprise you yet.:)

Thanks for sharing your experiences.(y)

I have a sneaking suspicion that my estimate of the light intensity might have been a bit too high—perhaps overkill—since the plant looks so promising visually, I kind of want to give it another run. However, a buddy of mine—a die-hard Haze smoker—told me to forget about it. He swears by Mr. Nice; he said if I want to find my "psychedelic Haze Ferrari," that’s where I’ll find it. He always swore by Neville's Haze and even gave me 10 regular seeds he’d selected himself—a cross between Neville's Haze and Afghani, derived from the old-school Flying Dutchman Haze. He said it takes anywhere from 91 to a maximum of 100 days. He also advised me to always start a whole batch of seeds at the same time.✌️

Hello!
The SSH "Stud" (or "Bull")—at least, that’s what I’m hoping for! It was already stress-tested back then; it was topped, and exposed to various light spectra and differing light cycles.
My plan was to let a cutting from it flower fully on the balcony. Unfortunately, I realized too late that I could have placed the empty fridge box over it to speed things up.

The big moment arrived the day before yesterday! The male SSH pollen was dried in the basement for 48 hours—until the pollen sacs burst open!
Then, the lower sections of a few small clones were pollinated: RS11, Street Tarts, Apples and Bananas, Cereal Milk, Ma.OG, Jiffy Cake, and Cherry Mint Cake. The latter was actually the main instigator—after all, I’d spent a while dreaming about Cherry Haze!
One of the Flying Dutchmen Haze plants smells very similar to the Super Silver Haze cut I had back in the day. Of course, I threw that one in the trash by mistake—I had to get rid of duplicate or triplicate clones due to a lack of space, and that’s when it happened. In any case, that cut is gone now. Oh, and a former colleague mentioned that the SSH cut I had back then was actually the SSH '97 Neville's Cut—the kind you simply can't find anymore these days!✌️

Amidst all the chaos inside, the Super Silver Haze clone in the small (approx. 2-liter) pot has remained extremely vigorous and healthy. I’ve since tried using it as a stud. Its male flowers looked really impressive once the sacs opened—which is just how it goes. For a long time, I didn't want to keep the other clone on the balcony due to the risk of accidental pollination. Fertilization likely took hold in the spots where I dabbed the pollen with a brush; the hairs there have turned a nice, withered brown. I sprayed the other buds with water, and they’ve stayed nice and white. So, we'll see. These are elite cuts I’ve been growing—and have known—for a good two years now. I figured I’d see what traits the male passes on. I’ll have to grow a few out, assuming it works. But the combination of a top-tier cut and SSH makes me really curious—especially with Cherry Mint Cake!

Have a fantastic Sunday, everyone.✌️

The pollinated branches were treated with pollen from the SSH male to see what that cross might yield. The Cherry and GMO plants didn't really want to take the pollen; I had to tap the brush over them three times. GMO was difficult—all the others were easy. ✌️

Let’s see what the SSH male brings to the table. I figured I’d give it a try, since I know these strains well and have grown them often. It’s a good opportunity to see what he contributes—to find out if he’s actually any good. Despite his very compact, slow growth, the SSH male has an intense, "hazy" aroma—typical for SSH, but quite potent. I found that appealing.✌️
