Shanti's Ortega VS Sensi Seeds Northern Lights

  • Thread starter Thread starter Resinfinger
  • Start date Start date
Quick update since I've been on holiday. I'll have pics soon. I've cropped pretty much all the first round and the o7 second round. The second round looks better than the first. The o5 6 and 2 have not shown any male flowers in 2 nd round.
From what I have smoked so far it seems they are "Stoney". I fell asleep at 7pm last night after taking a few hits from the O7.
NL6 is the most compact of sensi's. What I have cropped so far will be curing for a bit with a smoke report soon. Initial tests indicate good nightine meds for Ortega and NL. I will be taking a keeper Ortega and NL and continue to grow out until I have "figured out" the best way in my enviroment to do so.
Resin production appears similiar between the two strains. Ortega appears "thin" but burns forever when smoking. At first look I would not say dense but when a bowl lasts twice as long as others it's obvious it is.
Based on the 2 rounds so far I would keep the ortegas small and flower early. Trimming the bottoms accordingly is recomended. As shanti stated SOG would be ideal and I would have to agree.
The yields on both I would say are below average to average.

Any questions feel free to ask. I will go into my conclusions after 2 rounds of each plant.

Hi RF

RF,

I am glad to see you back to it. I must say I was 100% for Ortega. That is until I read this, and MM's thread. I felt I could deal with the occasional male flower if it happened. I know what you guys have said, and the info I received about low light levels. Yet since my order was comming up next week. I didn't like too much the sound of low yield. If we go medical next year. I really am limited to a few plants. So I decided to go with the nlxafghan cross. Hopefully a little more yield, and BL had his thread. Described perfectly what I need fir medicine. I just hope to find a pheno like that. Now though I say I will be watching your continued results.

When you've had more time with these ladies. If you would give us a more in depth report as to the effects of her. I would greatly appreciate it. Maybe then I would change my mind. Even if low yielding. I would prefer that with relief than heavy yielding. No relief...Goodday, and good to have you back...Ns

can you post some pictures of both strain ?

Hi Zig :)
I think if you look close, you will see you may have overlooked the below comment which would seem pretty self evident. So yes, some real winners...

Other than suggesting Shanti would release a herm proned line to the public, which I have my doubts on, do you have any other idea's which may explain things on this limited amount of reports?

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Deja vu

I just typed out a long description of the high I'm feeling and something happened......

I smoked alot.....

And somehow deleted it.

To make a long story I deleted short.

Music and headphones is where I'm headed.

Although I can't decide what to listen to.........Mad Season... Primus....

Stoney I missed your post about smell and taste. During flowering I've noticed a citrus leaning towards lemon with some wood hints as well. Last night I cracked open the #7 jar and smelled more of an orange. Kind of strange to go from one citrus to another.... I've had sort of a cold so I might be way off. I'm waiting for a few months on curing thebeans willl go into that more then. Between now and then it will mostly be finished bud shots and plants.

Cabron it's been a long gone day lol. Have you seen the footage from the show at the Moore? I've seen thousands of shows (use to work and sometimes still do in the industry) and that was one of my top 5.

NL6 1st round very slow grower.

Nice Joe

I knew I'd see a pic of those on your deck! Lol.

Those leaves look fat compared my ortegas. You running 12/12 or diff flowering time on those?

Yeah, I've noticed JKP's fat-ass-leaf pheno too.
I have 3 Ortega's going, and they all have surprisingly skinny leaves.
Have to stick my nose on them to get any smell - like sweet lemon candy.

I Like Fat Assed Leaf Pheno's
Growing Ortega Brings Back Fond Memories Of Growing S.O.L Or T.R.C Seed
BTW; I Germinated Mine August 15th
Reminds Me Of TH#5 ( Texas Heather Seed#5 )
I Knicknamed Them Chunkey Monkeys But I Hear There Is Another Strain By That Name
Now , If Only I Could Clone Or Get A Veg Room Up
Oh Well , Variety Is The Nice Of Life :D

Joe King Park..

Hey Broski

You aren't going to find a spg pheno from the Ortega beans..

I've had the Ortega cut in the past as well as the real SPG

They are totally different phenos from different lines.

Are you getting clouded and thinking you have a Legends LUI
growing??

It's like buying scratch tickets! It's all a gamble on what phenos
are going to surface for you..

So far none look exactly like the pheno that was circulating back in
2003 at CW that I was lucky enough to get.

It was the breeder that BS used...

But they are looking real nice..

I'm lovin the fat leaved phenos JKP>>>

aww fuggit!
I'm not going to miss out on gathering some truly legendary building blocks and icons for genetics..

These are basicly an IBL from my golden years 1987 1988 ...

NL#1...

Everybody grows differently ,,I've seen plants grown by others that were a terrible representation of a strain's capabilities and then I grew them and they were superb specimens..

I've just ran across this thread and these look as if mine do when I grow them.
These are ideal structured seedlings and superior genetics in my eyes..

Yes I like to breed,,I'm a pollen tossin nutjob! I won't lie!

I just fished out the extra $$ to add to my order that will go out tomorrow to Shanti,,,I'm getting the Ortegas!

Look at this link..

Too bad Hashimoto did as so many do,,start a grow log and abandon it ..

Pisses me off to no end!

Regardless I know when I like something after getting a visual...

These I like!!!

Wow, you have the Ortega that went into LUI? I loved LUI, much preferred it to the Sweettooths, I did enjoy sweettooth but it's a bit too sweet for my tastes, I prefer the spicy/hashy tastes.

I will have to get my hands on some Ortega genes before too long, I'm on an indica thing for the near future as I have med needs that require some indica stone.

Checking the dates on the posts, looks like it's the same exact plants you were looking at, so there is the finish to that log for you ;)
