Its working!

Ortega 6 first day of flower 7-7. Roots were ok looking. 20 inches tall

NL5 on 7-3 36 inches 19th day of flower

I also transplanted a few clones into 16oz cups. They were O1,10 and 6. Ill will have pics next time of them. Nl5 clone was transplanted earlier and is doing great. Ortega 10 seemed to have the most vigorous root growth while in the cloner. Longest roots in the 19 days give or take that it was in cloner.

Just a few minutes ago i couldn't click on the pics, but now it's all good. Is that what you mean by "It's working" or are you talking about the transplant?

Plants look really vigorus, r.finger :D Wassamatter, gallery not playing nice!! :p ;) Lol, a BUNCH of my pics had to be hosted @icmag, cause the gallery here wouldn't play nice with me either.

Do you have any initial impressions on flavor/odor? Are there any 'early standouts' other than that beasting tripple (...feel that you get while growing that 1 plant is outperforming her sisters)? Keep the updates coming, fisher dude :D

PS, what do you catch those kings with? The trout that I catch?? :p

kingkill i was refering to the photo section. The #10 is still showing the same symptoms as before the flush, kelp and transplant. I probably will be giving it the chop soon.

Pstar
The smell from the NL's are next to nothing even the one that is about 3-4 weeks into flowering. The ortegas smell is still real faint and hard to pinpoint, I GUESS minty but it still has that generic plant smell nothing yet that really stands out. As far as standouts go ortega #10 for easy cloning they all are real similiar very slight differences. There stature leaf design stem thickness are all real close. The male #4 is by far the only different on eo fthe batch due to its round leaves. Although they have thinned out as the plant grew.

That king was caught on a green glow blue stripe hootchie set 30 inches from a green glow spatterback flasher.

Thats my typical salmon arsenal along with a dozen or so flashers. We usually troll for them but on occasion we will mootch as well. The seasons just getting going and only open 3 days a week. Down from 4 last year.

BTW I have taken the MNS beer cup challenge and will be updating soon. I started 3 fem freebies seeds on 6-6 (I think) straight into 12/12. I should probably start my own thread like your ever popular "fugazee organix". That way I dont mess this comparison thread up.

Nice! I picked up some packaged salmon at the grocery store yesterday :p @ 1/2 price, it was 82cents for 3oz. The package says 'wild alaskan...', but I'm betting that the eggs came from alaska from a fish who was just a lil more 'wild' than his hatchery brothers :D

Funny that you use 'generic' to describe... ...uuuhhhh... 'generic' smelling young plants :D I call that smell the same thing. Like "It's weed, but I dunno what plant..." Hey, I have some plants that are in beer cups (Pakalolo x SSH; pakalolo = hawaiian sat x sk1), so I'm down to play. :) Did you start your fem's in June or July, lol? My beans are 'neglected vegged' for ~3/4wks, but they look like healthy lil plants now.

Hey ResinFinger nice ladies!
Sorry I'm just now tunning in but I've popped in now & then.
Doesn't seem like it's been awhile but these have already gone pretty far.
Looking forward to seeing the comparison but more so how the Ortega grows & where Sensi's NL is today.

Goodluck!

This is a quote/description of the Sensi seedbanks Northern lights. At the begining of this thread I read the description on the package/box the seeds came in and it stated they were F1 hybrid. I have posted that I thought they were a stabilized hybrid based on how they were growing. After reading this you may think otherwise. A little contradictory I would say. To add ive ordered a few diff strains from sensi and the packages are all the same with the "users manual" inside stating they are all f1's. The only thing diff on the package is the name and picture. It also states it is a compact dense and fast strain. See pictures below

"Northern Lights is one of three fundamental breeding strains that have changed the face of global cannabis culture over the last three decades. Apart from Skunk #1 and Haze, no variety comes close to matching Northern Lights’ influence on the world of weed. Whether you’re a smoker, a grower or a breeder, it's more than likely this strain has had a direct effect on your understanding of ganja. Virtually every cannabis enthusiast has, at the very least, had their day brightened by a fat bud of Northern Lights or one of her hybrid descendants. As far back as the Eighties, Northern Lights was setting the standard by which other Indicas are still judged and she remains one of the most trusted names and sought-after varieties in modern cannabis culture. For many years, Northern Lights dominated the various harvest festivals, winning cup after cup, leading to a more than one request that she be retired from competition in order to allow other strains a shot at the title.

Through years of selection and back-breeding between stellar examples of the three original Northern Lights variants, Sensi Seeds has adapted this picture-perfect Afghanica genotype for optimum indoor performance, making the world’s most powerful pure Indica accessible to every grower.

Northern Lights is compact, fast and very dense, capable of producing several generous, trouble-free crops per year from seed or clone. Her frosted buds possess a honey-musk aroma blended with an earthy Afghani undertone and a hint of juniper — highly enticing when dried and smoked, yet remarkably understated when growing and flowering. Low odour and easy cultivation combined with big yields and exceptional resin production make Northern Lights the first choice in Indica - for both connoisseur quality and commercial quantity."

NL5 Approx 42 days into 12/12. Almost 48inches tall thin sativa like leaves and no where near being done.

1st day of flower 7-19 for nl4 25 inches tall. I think I will regret flowering at this height but.....time to start bending.

Ortega7 23 inches tall 1st day of flower 7-19

Ortega 1 I think

Ortega 5 7-26 flower 24 inches

Ortega 2 7-19 flower 20 inches

Ortega 10 7-27

Ortega 9 an NL6 are still in veg. I need more room!!! I killed nl10 it never got any better after transplant.

Smokedream thanks for stopping in. I think the fun is just starting.

this has been an interesting comparison so far...as far as Sensi's description, well its changed because when i purchased NL from Sensi back in 99' it was described as a line that was high yielding, from the afghan progeny, an ibl line of the best exemplars of Northern Lights, being low odor with both commercial and connoseur quality...either they've changed the genetics or they changed the description...i lost my NL and feel it was one of the best plants ever to grace my garden, but i've heard so many mixed reviews that here at MNS i'd rather try Ortega, or NL5xAfg if i want an NL plant with an honest ancestory

Here are the NL's that are in flower right now. The pics need to be resized for some reason it did not work the same as it has before. I will figure it out for next update.

NL4 37 inches and bent heavily at top. Displaying nice initial growth in floweringso far.

NL4

NL5 47 inches showing slight signs of overwatering and fert. Has not been given any nutes to date.

NL5

NL5 leaf

NL5 bud at roughly 55 days

Ortegas

Here are the Ortegas. Some show slight burns on a few leaves but nothing to bad. I am starting to see some diffeences but I have cloned and top all of these pretty heavily before flowering. Mostly height and bushiest and the 5 and 9 plants seem to be leaning more indica like the male #4.

O1 38 inches

O1

O2 33 inches

O2

O5 33 inches

O5

O6 37

O6

O7 36 inches

O7

round 2 on a few of them

Here is the second time around for the NL5 it is 15 inches hopefully I can control this ones height better than the last.

Here si the first round for the NL6. This one has no vigor whatsoever. It has stayed the shortest so it may end up that way as well. It is suffering a little but nothing a few days in the new soil wont take care of.

Here is the O7 on its second round. I have a few smaller clones and I had the room so I figured I would throw it in. I have been bending and pinching heavily from the start with this and pretty much all of them. The Ortegas stretched a fair amount so I want to see what it will do when I flower earlier. The roots were thick and gleaming white when I transplanted

Here is O5 second round it is only 11 inches.

I have started these under a 600w HPS. The first round is under a 1k. For the most part they is not much of a smell. I have noticed that all the ortegas and the NL's so far dont require alot of water. This time of year I am watering every 2 days and these are about every 3-4. The first rounders are in various stages as you have read from earlier posts. Not much a diff from last weeks update. Although the O10 has good structure and overall looks good. The O6 has the most crystals so far. Way more than any of the others. O5 because it loks alittle more on the afghan side. The O7 is the bushiest and will probably be the highest yielder. Its stem did a 360 at "birth" see earlier pics so alot of the lower branches grew with the top. Ortega might be a good candidate for SOG.

Hi

Hey RF,

Sorry I haven't got back to this thread earlier than now. I have been droppin by to watch tho with alot of interest. Especially with the Ortega's. I've had this list in my head for month's now. Funny that the only thing that hasn't changed is the Ortega. As you know I'm looking for that pain relief quality. Even at the expense of being put to sleep. So I am watching your thread with great interest. I hope soon you can make a go at the nl5xafghan. I've thought that maybe one of the nl crosses might be nice for pain relief, and more daytime. Otherwise maybe just mix up a little MH in with the Ortega. Sorry to go off topic, but I am impressed with the care you put into these beauties. I hope you will be rewarded with something here that will help you out. Peace my friend, and keep in touch. Hope your well...Ns

Are there any smoke reports on Ortega? I know Shanti says it's a good sleep aid. I've got a pack on order

Which NL is Ortega made from (NL1, NL2, NL5, NL9)?

Thanks noshow. I don't think I'll get to the nl5xafghans anytime soon. I have a few others to grow out first.

JKP that's good to hear 100% germ rate. I would love to see pics of those on your deck! What's the other nl your running? I use papertowels to but only because I'm not patient and I like to if they are actualy germing or not.

HHHG the Ortega is with nl1. As far as I know there are no smoke reports yet. Medicine man is probably about ready to chop his ortegas. Shanti says it's "a pretty heavy-hitting stoning".

I plan on crossing Ortega and Medicine man. I'm trying to find natural remedies to replace the sleeping pills my friend must take every night.
