questions for Nevil

Hi bigherb and kingkill

but of course not :D

always appreciated and i agree wit those points

the soil topic interests me so much I'm willing to continue it in another thread. i thought it was best to put it in "seedlings and clones" since we are discussing "media"

anyway, maybe it will be best to keep this thread for questions to Nevil :D

This should come under the heading, Questions for ShantiBaba. I can only give you lineages of what I've done. Not everyone may share my views on disclosure, certain considerations come to mind.

a couple of questions for Nevil

-i've read Walkabout contains some Thai... how much and what Thai? I mean, is Walkabout a cross of many different strains or is it just a mix of seed of different origins?

-what happened to that Thai Highflyer of the 80s? i've seen it in old catalogs and i read you were looking for a thai to cross to your grail haze but there's not much info anywhere afaik about the highflyer

-any data about old/disappeared strains such as Beatrix Choice, William's Wonder or Pollyanna?

Mullum Maddness

Hi Nev
All this talk about Thai weed has my mouth watering!I`m a little young to have sampled real Thai stick .Although I did sample several different varieties of "Budha" they were usually golden to dark brown ,with a high energetic buzz. Around the same time we would occasionally be able to get some homegrown that had an intense high that people called Mullumbimby madness. I had a bad expirience the first time I smoked it and got violently ill and vomited for hours .Before it got too intense I felt great, but ultimately trainwrecked .These varieties are now seemingly all but lost .
Could you shed a little more light on the legend of the Madness?
respectfully
Elmer Bud

Hi Nevil,
Thanks for being in my grow room with me in every case.
I just got back from a huge ruderalis picking trip here in southern Moravia. We will be using the buds to manufacture a very CBD heavy "phoenix tears" type extract for folks in the Czech republic. Ill post pics on another thread here, but I couldnt help thinking while harvesting plant after plant why you decided to ignore this branch of the gene pool. The effect these trees have on my spacticity is excellent and leaves one with a clear head. Do you have any more info on the rudixNL cross, that sounds nice.
In any case thanks for what you do and my only question is whether you want any of these seeds, I have to shake them all out of the plants before extraction and theres BILLIONS. I also have some nice new Dagestani seeds as well from my barber so if youre searching for new genes, Russia is definitely a place to look

Hi Pin
Tell me about the Dagestani.
I found my Ruderalis in Northern Hungary. I only kept the early flowering gene going and got rid of every other trait. I've seen the wild Bulgarian weed, not much good for anything.
Some Early Queen got planted there and came in before the landraces.
I've never been to the Czech republic but would love to go there.

Hi Nevil, great to have you here. Your online presence is another piece of canna history in the making.
What I would like to ask you is your experiences with "Road-Kill Skunk" (RKS) as we who know it call it. This is a smell trait that is highly desired here. After trying a few different Skunk #1 lines I am unsure if the one I speak of is from that genepool. Many describe a short stout afghani type with golf-ball buds. The one I know as. RKS was a random hermaphrodite seed, who subsequently made seed thereafter. I gave my last of this seed to a friend who was going to keep her going.. Well he lost it, oh well it was hermaphrodite. I would like to attempt to describe her to see if you would happen to know where I might find more plants like it?

Her structure was sativa hybrid, started at 45N at the end of July 2002. She reached 5 feet tall and had to be brought inside to finish. Flowering time was about 11 weeks. The buds did not foxtail but were airy like a denser pheno of SSH, these were not golf ball nuggets. The plant had an upright structure with a hybrid "designer" leaf, not indica but not huge sativa lengrh. The odor was offensive piss and skunk through the plastic, through the pocket, small undertone in the citrus parameter. The flavor was full, skunky, garlicky, and satisfying. The high would wash over you from the spine over the top of the head, right into the eyes with one fluid reaction from a fairly expansive smoke. The potency would result in blurred vision initially and a physical stupor that was felt mainly in the head for roughly two hours. The real treasure of this strain was that initial hit but the odor and corresponding flavor had you biased.
I have tried the SSH and I know there is a stinky indica and a catpissy/skunky sativa but they aren't the RKS. The high/stone was heady butr much more physical feeling than SSH yet on the same or better power level.
What's your guess?

Looking at pics it looks close to the Afghan Haze but I haven't heard if such odor traits are to be found in that genepool. Could you also tell us about the G13 and haze combination please?

Hi SP
Your describing Super Skunk. Same mother as the Afghan Hz. Afghan T was a pretty special Maple Leaf. I called her the Skunk Archetype.
G13 Hz was surprisingly sweet. Not a heavy yielder but great smoke.

Nevil's Days

Salaams Nevil.
May i join the crowd of reverence who pay you tribute for allowing us all to grow good weed over the last 3 decades. I wonder what sort of contribution to the underground (not to mention 'overground, wandering free...'lol) economies of Europe and North America you've been responsible for over the years? I would imagine you would put even the one time one-man-cartel Howard in the shade of a mighty Nevils with that one. No wonder the borg had such a big hardon for you:mad::cool:

I have a little q about strong non-skunky burnt rubber flavours i found in an SSH. I have another sativa with a special kinda electric, euphoric high with the same aroma that i always thought was Mexican, because the high reminded me of Mexican i used to get back in the day. The SSH is less electric, but has a very pleasant head high. Do you have any thoughts on the origins of such genes?

Thank you for taking the time my friend, and for the many sacrifices you've made to forge a bull free path through everybody elses horsecrap. I guess you just cant keep a good man down:o, which is :D for so many people out there.

I have a question about plant trimming/pruning techniques for Nevil. What would you personally do in an indoor setting? Would you aggressively trim fan leaves, or just let the plant go all natural? I see a lot of threads around the forums with people asking whether or not they should remove fan leaves, I'd like to see what you think Nevil. Thanks!

Hi Nevil, my question is how exactly do you judge vigor? I've read where you've talked about growing a batch of seed looking for the earliest male or something along those lines. When you made that determination, was that from seed or clone? And if it was from seed, was it counting from the time of planting? Counting from time of sprouting, if they don't sprout in a uniform fashion? First serrated leaves?

I guess another question is, have you had any seed that started extremely slow or sprouted extremely late that showed any beneficial exceptional traits?

Question for Nevil?????

Do you remember SSSC M33 Friesland? Knowone knows the genetic background? Here is a knockoff from canada...good stuff but its not the original... do you know what it was? its early finishes late sept @45N...thanks Nevil...:)

Do you think starting the seeds under 24 hrs of light might have caused it so far to lean twords the slight indica backround in the genetics?
No.
A thinner sativa looking leaf, is a question of genetics. What is it you are really after, surely not thin leaves for it's own sake?
