Northern Widow (NL5/Hz x Black Widow)

somewhere in week 6 . . .

Tropical Widow show off

🍹🍸🥂

Smells are not overwhelming but are pretty invigorating.
Kind of everything in her perfume..
Bit of fruits, bit of citruses, bit of honey and bit off this haze feel

Seeds of Tropical Widow x WACO are developing nicely too ! :)

I will be adding some nutes this weekend.

Damn Ptree, she is really looking on point.
Shorter stalked trichomes with already bulbous heads.(y)
Great plant!

Week 8 is here, by this time all the amendments are swallowed by soil.
Just about right amount for another 2-3 weeks, by which the plant should be ready _:¨)

Tropical Widow pheno (NL5Haze x BlackWidow)
is giving me the most pleasurable smells..
It is sweet hazy to full dought like smell, no fruits.

She also packs a lot of trichomes and buds are filling out quite nicely.

Once the buds are nearing their completion - thats were the merges shines the most.
So still not the best quality right now...
But still here are 1st set of photomerges...

Now some cellphone shots (totally diferent world) but still decent pics..

As the flowering is becoming more and more interesting, I am slowly able to take better and better pictures..
I still dont know if Iam at my cameras limitation (it could be), but these smaller buds are just perfect for photomerges,
the merging is contrast related I believe, else the program have hard time to place photos over the other ones correctly.

Look at that difference between 1st and 2nd photo.
Day and night sharpness all around.
Bigger bud was also merged by more photos & still not enought compared to smaller bud.
:D
I like it so much tho.

Just few seeds where they wasnt meant to be, as always, my work :D
I will plan to grow out Northern Widow (Tropical Widow) x WACO very shortly..
As Iam pretty interested in these.
Tropical AC Widow I will call these once Iam all in.

Tropical Widow just picked litlle fruity breeze, something like lemon but very low noted..
Full smell of honey & sweet hash smells still prevalent.
I love it, now I can only water and wait :)

Nice photos, Ptree! Are you still using Nikon D750 + Irix 150 macro and Affinity software? At first I was really liking 006.jpg. but I noticed it is really really 'noisy'. It that a cropped picture? I'm thinking when shooting macro the only way to get much depth of field is to photomerge. What do you think?

Northern Widow is an excellent variety, strong and complex. Anyone else had a chance to grow it besides me and @Ptree? Recommended for sure.

mu
Of Mango AC, Mango Haze and the IBL, Super Silver Haze and Black Widow x NL5/Haze grown in the same run the Widow x NL5/Haze was the unanimous favorite. I was a little surprised but when you hear it six out of six times, blind tests at that, well, it is what it is. I would love to get to grow Mr. Nice's version as these were self made. A real indica showing Widow and a NL5/Haze male just like Shanti described in a thread somewhere here that I remember a member giving him shit for what they said was describing a hermaphrodite male. The pistils showed when revegging. Regardless, great smoke, great combination of some good '90's shit.

Yes still same hw. And crop with ghosting.

two years back I have used adobe ps. But I hated subscription model, the soft wasnt best for other work. But had clearer merges.

Affinity still has more user friendliness

Hi Ptree! :)

The Nikon D750 and the Irix 150 macro are great pieces of equipment so I don't think you would be hitting their limit. I would strongly suspect it is the software that is hitting it's limit. Sometimes it is the photographer! ;)Macro photography is a whole 'nother ballgame and many photographers never attempt it.The lack of a depth of field opens a whole new 'can-o-worms' in photography. Keep up the good work and the great pictures coming!

Software and hands.. Just sounds about right :)
Only thing Iam crying about is I had sold sigma macro 100.. she would have more decent photos for photo merges.. Irix is more shallower slicing, If you know what I mean..

Thank you ;)
Iam still working on it, everytime I find out what make merging better and easier...

It's the end of week 9

Northern Widow (Tropical pheno) is clearly coming to an end. The clone is 1-1,5 week faster than what was the original female.

Considering her wild growth pattern, slender leaf blades and trichome coverage, she is unbeatable.
As for trichomes, she has shorter stalks with fairly large bulbs, the consistency is more oily and not so sticky at the moment.
These trichomes are the carriers of fruity scents, that she started to produce some two days back.
On the touch, you can feel remnants of the fruits on your hands, maybe a little bit of almond too, all in very neutral, slightly sweet and pleasant way.

Almost all these trichomes have become cloudy and some are starting to turn amber.
So she will enjoy her day of complete darkness and tomorrow will be the last photoshoot, then harvest.

I prepared a few photos of her already, so these are waiting to be uploaded.
In the meantime, lets focus on the smell, for which I named this phenotype Tropical Widow
🏝️🍹 With your eyes closed you can feel like you are on a tropical island with a drink, the sun is shining, everything is fine 🍹🏝️

The plant smells incredibly beautiful.

The head
is a clear honey-hash – > kind off similar to the WACO scent I’ve encountered before
The heart is clear tropical fruit (lots of pineapple, a little mango, something unfamiliar to me – passion fruit, lychee, it is something slightly sour), all subordinate to the pineapple.
After these elements fade away, a hint of musk reveals itself with something, that evokes the feeling of being on a sunny beach.

I hope it’s clear why I named this phenotype Tropical Widow. It is for these complex smells and wild grow patterns.
Now I cannot wait to show you and also to taste this beauty :)
