Neville's Haze, in search of a keeper

Those stems would make a stellar 🫖. It's like 💠s growing on it.
indeed @Diesel840, If a had more the kettle would be on the stove already.😄

For sure @Swifty ....to be honest, i have never Seen so much Trichomes on a male plant before.... cool. I Love IT... Respect and one Love Penny. Amazing Grow ❤️
Me neither PennyP, since seeing trich's on a few Mango and Mango Haze Inbred males I was intrigued.
I have little experience with males but after reading so many threads over the past years and not seeing this I knew that this is rather special.

Hi @Swifty it's me again,

I’m not sure if you already mentioned it in one of your earlier posts above, but how long was the dude in flower?
And how long did it take for him to get that frosty?
What’s his aroma like on the stem rub and in the vape? How long has he been flowering overall?

He really seems one of a kind… I feel like he’s in good hands with you, Bredda 💯

Small update on the cuttings.

From the 28 females I managed to keep 27 mothers.
3 of these were made well into flowering and 1 failed at the last attempt.
NH#45 just did not want to root (3 attempts). I hope she is not special.

The 19 males all rooted easily.
Since I boil the peat cubes for 10 mins and let them cool down in that water I have a 100% strike rate again.

Every clone is still in its peat cube and kept alive by feeding Alga Grow (3ml/l) and rigourous pruning.
I start to notice that the overal health is starting to decline a bit, I will transplant every female into a small pot with Light Mix soil.
I will wait with the males until I know were the keepers are, these are younger so that should not be a problem.

First of all, kudos again for the great report. Unfortunately, I have found in the past that the often very good, exceptional phenotypes of various strains were very difficult to clone.

Hello PennyP,

The males were harvested around 9 weeks of 11/13 (forced flower outdoors).
Trichomes started to become visible around 4-5 weeks in flower.
Out of the 14 males there were 8 who had some, 3 of these showed good to very good trichomes + stronger scents (the 3 I kept).

If you have some sime, scroll back to around august last year, you can get a little more info in some post.:)

NH#36 male vape report:

This male also has a decent high but very different to the other male.
The effect was warm, clear and very euphoric.
The high started more gently and build its way up and peaked around 30-40 minutes, at that time I thought I found my grail male regarding effect.
Unforunately it started fading then and after a good hour of vaping I wanted to vape again.
The other male carried a high that lasted longer.
If the potency was better he would be the male for me, I don't had enough flowers left over to test him again.
So this male has the best quality high but is a bit lesser in potency than the other.

I do realise that this just an impression from one vape test, If I had more male flowers I would try again.

Taste was very similar to the other male, a bit bland.

NH#36 will be used further to make seeds.

I'm planning to mate #14 with the most "potent and psychedelic" females and #36 with the best "euphoric and clear" females.

NH#26 male is the last to test, from the 3 males he has the least trichomes.

Neville's Haze#26

This male shows less visible trichomes compared to his brothers.
He does have a nice smell when I crush some flowers, hazy with sour and musky undertones.
Smell is less pronounced than the other 2 males.
I decided not to try and vape him, I feel that the other 2 are better and since trichome production, smell and high are my primary selection criteria he is less desirable to me.
He is still alive for now but probably won't be used for making seeds.

Some pictures of the flowers and trichomes of NH#26:

Those were the 3 males that made it through the first selections, took a bit of time and effort but I have a better insight of what high and smell they have.

Neville reversed his males, I will look into this and might try this over the summer time.
I see a lot more trichomes on reversed males.
I want to know if this makes for bigger trichomes, males flowered naturally can produce a decent amount of them but they are smaller compared to females.
I'm guessing that I will be indeed easier to assess them.

I will start to evaluate the females soon, they have been curing for a couple of months.
More later.

Still young but will start moving a bit faster now. I'm hunting for a speedy/trippy effect, last time I had it was with hash from morocco, some phenos of Vortex also had it but so rare it wasn't really worth the hunt. I've made extracts with these types of strains and the effects are really something special when you get the right one.

I've been sampling the NH's a lot the past week and I experienced some interesting females.
I found it true that curing brings out different smells and tastes and It certainly gives more depth and power in the high with a longer duration.
It is not that the smell or taste completely changes but some flavors or smells come more to the foreground while others becomes less dominant.

Let's start with the "pearl" pheno's.

I had three pearls, NH#5, NH#11 and NH #12, to be honest I did not expect much from them after smoking them for the first time just after they were dry but they gave me a nice surprise now.

NH#11 will not be kept, A nice clear high but lacking in strenght.
She has that spicy taste and smell.

NH#5 will be grown for a second time.
The high from this girl is very strong.
She has very good euphoria but is also very psychedelic and mind altering.
I really enjoy the vibrant feeling she delivers.
She is a bit on the sweeter side with a very haze/camphor/pine smell.
Very addictive and strong smell and a nice taste.

In the vape she gives more pulls than usual and you can feel her in your lungs.
A very nice expanding feeling.
2 pulls and she rushes to your head, a couple more and you're flying for a couple of hours.
She has some serious raw potency.

Neville's Haze#5:

Next grow will be better, she has potential.

Neville's Haze#12 is also a pearl pheno that will be run for a second time.
This lady has a very euphoric, clear and very stimulating high bordering on being edgy.
Very intense and for me very enjoyable. This is what I want in a good sativa.
Another plus is the smell and taste, don't know if this is common in the NH but she is like a sweet mango with underlying menthol/campher notes.
She is lovely.

NH12(8).JPGNH12(10).JPGNH12(11).JPGNH12(12).JPGNH12(13).JPGNH12(14).JPGNH12(15).JPGNH12(16).JPGNH12(17).JPG

So I can say that a pearl pheno can be very good indeed.
I already found 3 other pheno's that will be run for a second time, I will describe them later.
Next to that I'm still testing every other pheno to make sure I only keep those with great potential.
I will post back with the results.

You are amazing @Swifty ....i am blowing away! Could you might please explain to me , what you mean with the "Pearl" pheno? It's about the Resin production? Or relatet to the Silver Pearl Strain?

Sorry If this question might seems stupid, but i Always have to translate the stuff in my brain from english to german....

One Love Penny

It's the genetics PennyP, I only take care of the plants.😄

A "pearl" is a pheno that has mostly calyxes growing by the stems.
You don't see buds just one calyxe after another, you can say that a branch looks more like a string of pearls.
