Neville's Haze, in search of a keeper

No personal experience to relate.
The furthest amount of time I have been able to go is 11 weeks with a Neville's Haze.
At that point spider mites had started to build infrastructure projects.

I do however remember Shanti mentioning something about not judging on the first run and to run everything multiple times.
As often the keeper is hiding and improves over time..

You have me intrigued now @Swifty. The ears are certainly pricked up.
What's this bit of golden info?

I follow Shanti's advice and always run the better phenos a second time.
From the last run of my Neville's Haze x Mango I found NHM#16 better than NHM#4.
First run it was the other way around.
I still have the five keepers and will run them again for the last time to see were are the real keepers for me.

Next to that I can add that the sweet/sour trait could also be very potent and should be looked into.

Here are 3 "pearl" phenos found in the 28 females.
One of these showed very good trichome coverage and has my interest.
When harvesting I noticed that these 3 smelled more spicy, more on that later.

NH#12 shows better resin coverage and purple stem:

The third pearl showed the most trichomes.
She was a real beast and was more than 2m long (tent is 1,80m high).
I harvested her last because she grew everywhere.

They look very special indeed acrid, never seen this before in any of my grows before.
The haze is strong in Neville's Haze!
I presume that this must come from the Thai side of the haze?

If they are good I will keep them around, cobbing is something I want to do at some point.

What you are describing Zero0 sounds a lot like the Super Lemon Haze I know.
So far I did not find this in the MNS hazes but I suspect that you can recreate this easily with the right parents found in MNS stock.
Some Mango Haze had the most citrusy leaning terps for me.
I believe that crossing my SSH keeper with a very lemony skunk could make it happen!
NH has more of the old smells, very complex and layered if that makes any sense.

Since GTH has Neville's Haze pollen in its genes and GTH is very Haze-dominant and have lot of phenos whit Hazy and citrus terpenes, I am told that Neville's Haze must also have citrus phenotypes. Perhaps they are rarer because of the genetic diversity of NH.

I have found hints of limonene in NH, along with pinene, caryophyllene; all traits of terpinolene- layered, complex old smells as @Swifty sez. Terpinolene can be found in JH and GTH.

I understand that Terpinolene have also characteristic of citrus flavor as Limonene terpenes.
I noticed that GTH liked humidity, and it increased the lemon scent on this strain. Unlike Dirt Dawg (Chem 91), which reacted badly to humidity and turned the fruit aromas vinegary, even musty.
I'll see how it turns out in my next session whit Neville's Haze.

certain environmental queues trigger cascading results, depending on what your trying to coax out is which levers you can pull, or not pull.. ie. slightly lean N shifts the plant’s balance toward secondary metabolism

I did notice over the years that I do prefer flowers from plants that ended with a nice fade in the end.

Everyday I'm learning, so pardon me if I'm half thinking out loud and don't take what I say as scripture.
But, from what I understand, there's pulses that prime the pathways that will dictate which direction the terpenes go (MEP vs MVA) later on down the line. Like, maybe alternating sulfur (monoterpene/thiol) and carb/microbial (sesquiterpene/resin) foliar inputs 1:2 might put the leverage on the sesquiterpene side. Ramping up the concentration with each cycle, essentially layering but with heavier volume, compounding and creating a rhythmic momentum.

I'm starting to suspect that the reason Hazes take long isn't that we're waiting for them as much as they're waiting for us.

You are right about the effect, it is something very special (already)
I started trimming yesterday with NH#18, very delicate sativa flowers with a good amount of trichomes.
The smell is spicy (not strong), I resembles a lot like the small packages of spices you can get to put on your chicken (chicken mix?) if you now what I mean.

I could not resist and vaped a small bud, I was not expecting much since they are barely dry but the haze caught me by suprise.
After the first big pull I noticed a rush climbing to my head and in an instant I was high!
A warm cosy feeling that stucked to my head. My forhead and nasal bridge felt like it had a glow for a good hour.
My senses were wide awake and it gave me very good energy.
Very enjoyable and It gave me a glimpse of what Neville's Haze is about.
I promised myself to test each pheno once while trimming but then they go in the jars to cure.
