Mr. Brown dreams a little dream of Dreamtime

Day 20

So far I like growing in soil (y) I give them only water with a pinch of algae lime and they look good :)

I will repot them in the final 10 gallon fabric pot with my living soil as soon as they develop a big and healthy root ball.

Day 25

Today was the day :)
Dreamtime 1 and Dreamtime 2 showed some big and healthy roots. I repotted them into the final 10 gallon fabric pot with my living soil (y)

Day 47 (day 1 at 12/12)

Today I took the cuttings and switched to 12/12 (y)

To give them some air movement from below I cut off the 3 lowest branches and turned on the small fans on the bottom of the tent.
Because this is my first grow in soil and I don't want to add extra nutrient I decided to not defoliate the plants to keep the leaves as nutrient reservoirs
I hope that makes sense

Leaves are indeed capable of storing nutrients like nitrogen in them... But I think there is no shame in either a little defoliation for the lower branches to recieve a bit more light, nor in top dressing a small amount of food in case your mix isn't "loaded" enough to bring them through flower... (which I doubt) 😉
Whatever you choose to do, your plants will be a dream coming true 😎

Thank you @pleased420 :)

Your suggestion made me reconsider my decision and I cut off some of the lower fan leaves to give the lower branches more light and air movement (y)

Day 50 (day 4 at 12/12)

Today I raised the LED to 75% to give the plants some more DLI (y)
All the plants seem to like the soil mix so far :)and I really love the color of the leaves

Question for you: 🤔
Why do you dim your indoor lights when the strength of the sun on outdoor plants is far more than any light could ever produce?
Why flower a plant at a dimmed, let’s say 500-700 par versus 1000-1500?
☮️
Good question @Skuncle Lenny (y)

Let me try to explain the thoughts behind it in my broken english ;)
The sun shines with different strength over the day while the LED has the same power from the first to the last minute. I figured out the average DLI that the plants need in their growing stages to break that down into PPFD and Lux.
full

In my grow tent I try to keep the LED ~40cm above the canopy and dial it in with my light meter to have the perfect light strength for each grow stage.
Over the last grows I learned that the plants get stressed when the LED is too close or shines too powerful.
So far it works good for me but the journey is not over yet. I still have to try and learn a lot more.

Txs and appreciate your rationale.
It’s a great discussion point that could probably go on for days. There are so many variables to so many things that we all do that I find it interesting how successful we are using all different types of methods. I love the scientific side and I also love the wild, let it grow like a weed IMG_1336.jpeg side of me…

There is no right or wrong way of growing. Just so many different ways that work. That's what I love most about growing
One day when I have the space and time I'll definitely try your wild style of growing :)
