Hey Kangativa,

Could you list what Africans and Thais your growing.. I'm interested in another who grows outdoors like me.. well I've got my limits but I'm resourceful. I'm a medical patient and caregiver so here in Cali we need to stay within our limits. Thanks for your time mate.

No worries....The Thai's are Lao, Thai stick, White Thai, Wild Thai and I put some 30yr old seeds I had, but no luck as yet, also i have lowland Nam Black in as well. The Africans are Swazi Red, Swazi skunk, Zambian Copper, Kariba Suprise, Ghana, Pongo, Malawi Gold.....no luck with the Pongo's also.
I did see the fence in one of your picks and thought aha that looks like a deer fence:D
I spent a few yrs growing in the Mendocino area in the mid 80's...still have some nice strains from there:D

Cool

Well brother if you need something from here again I can help.. Mendo is a stones throw if you know what I mean.

Man lovely selection. I have some Laos to get into and more Thais, next season I will get into those.. real deal also from Hmong tribes.

Those old beans sometimes need a little carbs, I using put a drop or 2 of Superthrive and maybe a little liquid plant food to get them going.. very sparingly and only after few days. Warm weather and time will help.. be patient and don't give up, some have taken me over 2 weeks to sprout. I have some 30 + old af~Ghanis to get into also.

Would love to see that Nam Black, I have some Vietnam Black crosses going with Thai and a Maui Wowie hybrid.

The Africans are a real find, African seeds lines. The Zambian Copper and Kariba Surprise are one of the few I haven't seen anyone grow yet, is this your 1st grow of those? The Pongo.. man I have heard good stories of that line.. but same as you none sprouted..damn shame.

Yes, deer fence.. fuckers can jump high as hell though.

Glad to meet you bro, I'll be following along to check your progress.

Thanks for the offer mate:D Yep I know where you mean...lol

Those ones from the Hmong should be good, I spent a bit of time with the Karen and they had nice strong smoke.

The truth is I have not grown any of those strains I mentioned, as I said I was given some awesome strains by someone that is calling it a day and his collection over the years is incredible.....I just hope I can do them justice.

I will try some different things on the seeds soon if nothing happens, I only have 13 so dont want to stuff it up.

I understand with the Nam blacks there is a Highland and a rarer one the Lowland, I am led to believe that the Highland is a huge plant and the other a smaller but way more potent strain.....this is that one, but I have yet to find out....lol

If you go back through my Motivation thread about 2 pages there is a list that I will do this season, I just havent put up my strains that I will do, but they have sprouted and enjoying the sunshine:D

Stay well mate....K

Kang, love the garden, very inspirational for us outdoor gardeners! How long from planting to harvest did it take?

Hi VB thanx.....I put the seed into soil around mid August, that is to sex them out and I havested the last plant around the end of May, I could have gone into June but the rain made me bring them in. I hope this season will be more of a dry finish and I can go that little bit longer.

Dried Sativa Buds.....2 month cure and still a bit to go.

Hey Kangativa,

We should start a dried buds thread for all of the sativas and others we are growing. What is that sativa bud? Looks good.

Sounds like a good idea.

Honestly mate I am not sure what strain it is, it has that Mullum Madness smell to it, so it I would say it is a cross with that, but I just pulled it out of a bag that was getting trimmed. I have a bad habit of throwing all my pot together at the end of the season to finish curing, something I have been told I cant do anymore, but I do like a mixed bag:D.
The one in the middle I smoked and it just rocked me......Super strong long lasting trippy wasted high. Half closed red eyes, with a smile on my face for at least 4 hrs......Maybe the curing is closer that I thought...Lol

Here is some pure Mullumbimby Madness:D

Hi aktarus.....It is a pleasure, I always enjoy making the soil up as this is for me the most important part for healthy, big plants.
As I go through the season I will give details on what I add to the soil and what I do to the plants.
I usually put compost around the plants drip line after about 2 - 3 months of growing and I also foliar feed......I also put in the ground, soaker hoses which are made from recycled car tyres, they are porous and water seeps out of them at a very slow rate......these increase root mass and you can also feed through them.....anyway mate as I said I will keep a bit of a journal going through the season....cheers K

Hi all.....Well its been awhile since I did a update on whats happening down here on the farm.
After staring the seeds off on the 22nd of Aug i now have them under 24hrs of light, using 2 600 watters. I only did this with all my new import strains as I wanted to make sure they didnt get attacked or chewed outside.
I averaged about a 90% strike rate, with nearly all the strains I put in of shanti's giving me a 100% strike rate:D
I had a few problems with some of the old Africans, but they are pretty much all up and going now.
The Fet303's are all powering, which is good as I am very interested on how this strain goes.
Ok here are some pics, the seedlings a re a bit strechy as I wasnt sure how close to put the lights.
I also have in here some pics of my Highland Oaxacan male crossing to some Roadrunner autos which were freebies, the RR was also crossed to a Herijuana male......should be interesting to see how this goes:D
The seedlings have just had their morning spray, so look a bit droopy.
Tomorrow they will all get a soak in Seasol, which is a Certified Organic seaweed which is made down on King Island Tasmania.
You will also see i have put old cow and horse manure that I soaked in water and added around the plants.
Out of my strains I also had a round a 90% strike rate, but they are outside so a few got munched, but not badly......of those I have, Mendo Girl, MG X MM, MG x Mex, MM X WW, Mex x WW, Space Shuttle ( NL#5HZ x Highland Oaxacan ), Cali Skunk, Oaxacan Highland and Mullum Madness......I will put the MM and Nev's haze next to each other and see what happens, bit like clash of the Titans.
The first seedling is a BW, I am hoping this is a male, because the growth rate is amazing and I like a male with this sort of vigour, just have to check for strength and if good this will be my BW stud.

Hi Hempy....Good to hear from u:D
Yeah mate i am also looking forward to the Africans.....I was told that the Kariba Surprise is a super strong trippy Sat and the guy from African seeds personaly choose his seeds from the best pot he could get, Price no option as he only wanted the best, same with his others, but the Kariba came with a +++++ next to it and same goes with the Fet's.
Yes i heard that they have PNG in it, it will be interesting to see how they go here......have you much more info on it ??

Yeah mate I cannot believe the start to this season.....We had rain all through winter, very rare for here, so I am glad I did all the work before I went away and now we are just getting nice spring rains intermitent with sunshine and I have just finished the spring turn of the soil and added old cow and horse manure and just touched up with a bit of lime.

I agree on the lights as I dont know these strains, so I am not 100% sure they will sex out by mid Oct....so i am taking no chances. I will bring them outside in about another week, the drop in light hrs should do it, with some possibly getting reasonable heads to seed and also to colect and store some male pollen. Just bought a 15kg drum of Indicating dessicant:D

Cant wait to see all the old timer long season monsters, especialy such a large and great list of diverse genetics. I reckon you might just find half a grail or 2 in that lot :) . Great to see the oldschool at work still, its to rare now days and is what used to make the aussie scene great, sad only a few like kanga and don still go hard at it with much passion and pride in their work under our lovely sun.
much respect
