That's a lot of work you've got planned there Kanga. You're probably going to need help analising the finished product.

I reckin we will be lining up to give the fella a hand with that nevil , hehehe
its the least we can do ....

That strain list sounds like a session of the United Nations. You'd need at least three people to help analyze them yeah?:)

Lol......hey you know you are all more than welcome,I must say it would be a good smoke in with alot of breeding bullshit flying around:D But I do have to get them up and growing yet, although I do have a couple of the Afghani Skunk x Afghani Haze sprouted after 24 hrs......Thanx Shanti :D

By the way I forgot these.....Ortega, Malawi gold, Jamacan Blue Mountain, Mazar, NL x HZAC(Doors) and a Hashplant x Haze, this one is coz of you Nevil:D
The Mazar and please correct me if I am wrong and out of line for saying this Shanti or Nevil, but I believe Nevil collected this on a trip to that area.

Hi mate....At the moment if all goes to plan the ones I need to do to replenish seed stock is from.....
African seeds....Swazi Skunk....Zambian Copper......Kariba Surprise.

Afropips.....Swazi Red.....Durban Posion.......Malwai Gold....Nigerian.

I also have some DP given to me while I was away that might need doing as well.
The African seeds will get priority, then the Swazi Red and Malawi Gold.

Lucky I have plenty of African music:D

Kangativa, would you be able to describe Afropips DP? Ive got the last pack Attitude sold, and Ill be starting them within the week. Id love to know what Im in for if you remember anything about it. Same thing goes for Nigerian too, if you could. Ive noticed their website is down, and most of his stuff is sold out everywhere. Ive thought about grabbing a pack of his Nigerian before its all gone.

Thanks a bunch.

Hi Johnny........I cant really help you on that one because I only just aquired them my self and the last time I grew DP was in the early 90's, I believe and I could be wrong about this but I think I got them from Sensi.
The plants back then only got to about 5-6ft and where not really solid buds, but it had a nice smell and a nice uplifting high......cant remember much more to long ago and to many smokes:D.....cheers K

Ah, well thanks for the info you could give me. Maybe we can can compare our Pips DP whenever they get started.

Well it was a great day today, nice rain, sprouting seeds and the 8 yr old Africans are germanating after only 48hrs:D

I thought I would put up some pics of the seed mix I do.
I have seen over the yrs that MJ just loves to grow on the banks of streams, rivers or in fertile valleys that have had rivers flow through them at some time in history, so I like to base my starting mix on that theory. First I go down to my creek and get a load of pure creek sand from the bank and into that I mix at a ratio of 2 parts sand to 1 part horse, cow manure that I find dry in the paddocks.
I just throw it into a cement mixer and out comes nice dark looking sand/compost mix. I then put this into 24oz cups, I find that because they are nice and tall the tap root can go down unhindered for a depth of about 8-10 inches. I have found that this seems to produce a 80% female to male ratio......not good if you are looking for that perfect stud.
The mixture will never burn the seedlings and they grow fast, it also absorbs water quickly if they accidently dry out.
I have also include some pics of the seeds soaking. I have them on a table with a electric blanket under them.....cheap and easy to control temps. The plate on the heating tray is the old African seeds. I thought because they are used to a hot African sun more warmth was needed. Shanti's strains are just about all in and that is after 24hrs as are a few others.......anyway here are the pics, compost first.

Damn forgot the pics:D

I have put the soaking plates on top of a electric blanket, cheap and so easy to control temps.
Nearly all of Shanti's strains are in the soil after 24hrs.
You can see the plate on the heating tray, this is the 8yr old Africans. I thought because they are from a hot climate like that they would need a bit more heat......seems to be working :D
I put my seed in the ground as soon as it cracks, I dont like long tap roots as they can easily get broken off while putting them in the soil.

Kanga, I imagine is the rock dust thats in the streams that your plants love so much. I use azomite myself which is pretty much the same stuff.

I love your idea about using a heating blanket. Got to be alot cheaper than buying a heating mat, and thermostat controller, plus you have so much more room with your blanket.

Dont really know about the rock dust because there is so many different types of rock, but I am sure that combined with all the sedimentry deposits from dead plants and animals helps.

yeah mate the blanket is great, when I am working with the seeds i just put down some plastic so water doesnt go directly on the blanket.....although I am sure they are designed in case of accidents.

Kanga, check out this thread on ICMAG.

Lots of info on the net about soil mineralization. Fun stuff to read if your anything like me.

Interesting:D
I always use soft rock phosphate in my compost and lime in my soil. I used to use greensand along time ago but it's to hard to get now, instead you can buy craker dust and screen it and use the powder in your compost as a replacement.
Lots of places around here have a high mineral content already so I dont mess with those things as much. Growing in sandy soil like WA, you need everything you can get to get the soil where it with grow a long flowering sativa without leaching nutrients to much. I have some organic books here that cover growing from the early 1900 using composts and doing your soil prep.....my kind of stuff:D and the pics of the veges and trees are incredible.
I have just as much fun preparing my soil as I do growing the plants:D

Well all is going well with the seed soaking, with everything having at least 3 or all of the seeds sprouted, except for my old Thai's.
I thought I would put up some pics of the Zambian Coppers and Mexican Oaxacans plus the seeds in their warm enviroment until they pop out of the ground.
Nearly every strain I have soaked of Shanti's is already sprouted except for a few Critical Mass and that is after only 3 days........thanks again Shanti:D

Looking good kangitiva.

I particularily like your white thai! Just amazing.

Have you grown any trees from seed other then sativas collected by yourself? notice some hybrids in the strains. What's the difference you notice, shorter bushes with more weight?.. need to tie em up, more mold issues.

I'm guessing it's the shear height sativas can reach and their unique highs that do it for you. Constantly a variation between phenos of the same seed you have collected?

Just amazing, I agree with hempi, i've been on the forums a long time and i've never seen anyone post pics like that. Doing australia proud mate.

Hi mate.....Yes i have grown hybrid strains which I got from Sensi seeds like the NL/h, which I believe was the best hybrid I have grown and I think Nevil will agree with me on that one.
As with diferent pheno's of the same seed I have collected I dont really have any, they breed true year after year...I think that is what you were asking :D
The reason I breed Sativa's is not only for the height and stone ( I do like it though ) but it is what I was brought up on, so it is what I know what to do the best.....This year is a bit different as I have Sat's and Indicas so i am getting into a whole new world, which of course i look forward to with pleasure. I will also be doing some interesting crosses with Landrace strains as this is where I want to head with my breeding program:D

There's alot of people want to know what a 15 foot Neville's Haze looks like:D Personally I want to know what a 15 foot Nev's Haze smokes like:D Can't wait to see your army of herb monsters and shamen this year mate.[/QUO

Yeah I am with you on that one Bushy......Not only Nevs, But the Africans and Thai's. The good news is they are all up and growing:D

Hey Kangativa,

Could you list what Africans and Thais your growing.. I'm interested in another who grows outdoors like me.. well I've got my limits but I'm resourceful. I'm a medical patient and caregiver so here in Cali we need to stay within our limits. Thanks for your time mate.
