Donald,

really good point i hadnt thought of. weather influences on strains.

I'll most likely settle for a durban line to work with as I know those work well this far north...just gotta pick a decent line...and that in itself will take some work to figure out.
Funny...no one carries any decent African lines right now...well non hybridized anyway.

Hi all, Well its nearly time for me to get this thread going again for the season with pics and updates.
I will only do reports on Shanti's strains here, if anybody else is interested on other strains they will be at IC Mag.

North if you are curious about any African strains I will be doing some of them as well.

Ok at the moment I have planned to plant BW, Nev's Haze, Mango Haze, SSH, The Doors( NLxHZ AC male ) and possibly a couple of others. I am open to suggestions, but there is only 8 days to go:D

To all you guys who have posted your outdoor pics during your season, I thank you for keeping me motivated and all the best till the finish......Cheers K

Your not gonna make us go over to icmag to see all your stuff Kangativa are you?

Why not just start a non MNS strains thread somewhere on this forum where you can show your other stuff.
I doubt Shanti would have a problem, he should be up for taking the pepsi challenge against these other strains.
He said before he has no problem with other strains being shown, once it's not just advertising, so I'd say it's cool for you to show.

Just a thought anyways, I know a few members here, myself included, that won't go over to icmag on principle, so it would be nice to see your stuff here,
Peace,GG

Lol......Ahhh yes I forget about these things. Shame really considering we all like to do the same thing:(
I am sure Shanti would not mind at all....its me that is the problem, being a man of not many words and very little time to say them even if I was, I thought this would be a easy way for me to keep it simple and not have to answer to many questions:D

Ha, you think you can go posting pics of big feckin trees like that all over the net and not have to answer many questions:p

A huge amount of growers all over the globe have seen your pics by now, along with all their mates that they drag to the computer with cries of ''holy shit, they're not real are they?''

You've got alot to answer for now mate:) all good though.

Re: icmag, yeah it's a shame we can't all get along, but some people seem to have a problem putting the plant ahead of the dollar all the time.

Peace,GG

Lol....Yeah mate I guess you are right. I was happy just being here until Bush weed a very good friend thought some of the pics would look good over at IC:D
So all good, Ill put everything here:D

Here are some pics of some curing Sativa buds from the MM & Oaxacan, they have been curing for about 6 weeks now but really need a few more months to be what I would class as near perfect.
I did a taste test with 3 tokes on a joint and it was smooth and taste was a bit like lemon, but not really strong, the high was a strong trippy stone that had me staring at the computer for about a hour and going shit this is going to be nasty when cured. It has left me with a slight hangover this morning, but I think that could be cause I slept 10 hrs...lol

Anyway here are some pics...

Hey kangativa , nice to hear you dabbling with the african strains .. i grew a bunch of them a while back and found some really nice plants , particularly in the swazi ,, but some of the durban didnt get a chance to perform properly during the time of year it was planted ..
a friend has a durban poison cross from back then that they kept due to good performance and early yeilding ,, darn shame they crossed it ...

any info on the varieties you have on hand ???

Hi mate....At the moment if all goes to plan the ones I need to do to replenish seed stock is from.....
African seeds....Swazi Skunk....Zambian Copper......Kariba Surprise.

Afropips.....Swazi Red.....Durban Posion.......Malwai Gold....Nigerian.

I also have some DP given to me while I was away that might need doing as well.
The African seeds will get priority, then the Swazi Red and Malawi Gold.

Lucky I have plenty of African music:D

African seeds is no longer in business,I believe, shame as I heard good things about their stock.

Durban is one of my intended targets...

Nice pice there Kanga!

Thanx mate:)

Yeah mate you are correct about African seeds they havent been in business for 5-6yrs, that is why they will be definetly going in.

Also Afropips do not have Swazi Red or DP anymore, so they are also on the must do list.

Hi Everyone, Well its that time of the year again to start the New Grow, but first I would like to thank all of you Northern Hemisphere outdoor growers for sharing your summer grow pics, they have been a inspiration and it just goes to show what a fantastic plant MJ is and if you put your heart into it what can be achieved.....my hat is off to you all.

Ok this year I will take the time to take you through the grow from start to and all goes well the finish.
First off I get a few people asking how big do I do the holes, well as I always say the bigger the better and with long flowering Sativa's this is a must. But although big holes help, it is what you put in them that counts.
All of the plants you saw that were grown last year were grown in first season holes, in other words they were freshly dug and composted for the first time and not long before the plant were put in the ground.
The reason they got so big is I believe in compost and lots of it and well broken down......You do this right and apart from a bit of a boost during the season with foilar feeding you should not have to add to the soil.
Ok making my compost.....Manures, cow, horse, chicken, these are all fantastic to add to your mix. Cow is mostly to get your soil nice, it is not to hot and can be used just about fresh. Horse is hotter and should be dried or broken down. Chicken, well this is HOT and should be well broken down before going anywhere near the plants.
Blood and Bone....I like to use this in my compost as it helps break it down faster, if I use it in the holes I make sure it goes in at least 2 months before planting as this alows it to break down and animals will stop digging by then if they are a problem.
Wood Ash....Again add it to the pile, being alkaline it keeps the acidity down.
Soft Rock Phosphate.....This again I add to the pile. If put in the ground add it 2 months in advance as that is how long it is availible to the plants. It will stay in the soil for up to 3 yrs so use sparingly.
Leaves and mulch.....again I add to the pile and the holes.
When preparing a heap I first put down the leaves and mulch, then the manures and wood ash, followed by a sprinkling of the B & B and RP then layer again until you run out or cant get it any higher. With the Cow and horse manure it is good if it is wet to help breakdown quicker, but not a problem if its not.
I then let this break down at least 6 months before using. When weeds start coming out the top and worms are in it then it is ready You can use as much as you like in the holes, it wont be hot and will have everything your Plants need for a healthy and long life.
Ok I have done some pics of the holes I have cleared and dug and some compost pics, some of you will reconize the spot where the Space shuttle and MM grew last year, as you will see this has been prepared and mulched all winter.
Next post will be starting the seeds and the mix I use for that and of course what I will be growing this season
The good thing about this season is I will have MNS strains to show:D.....Thanx Shanti.

Lol.....Always mate:D
I am glad you are going to be around. Im looking forward to this year, not only have I got Shanti's to do but some very special Landraces as well.....cant wait, I am like a kid with new toys:D

You know mate even if i could no longer smoke i still would grow because i love this plant and watching a seed crack and grow from a seedling into a fully flowering plant it is a real magical experience.

Smoking something and knowing how good it smokes and then growing that seed out for the first time watching it threw its stages is so good the anticipation of what is to come watching it noticing the small differences each line expresses is great.

looking forward to it my self.

Awesome work, kangativa. Beautiful plants and I'm looking forward to your Nigerian grow, as a friend of mine is thinking of purchasing from the same place. all the best and will pull up a chair. Groundweller:)

Thanks everybody for joining the grow, I just hope I can make it as enjoyable for u as it is for me doing the growing:D
By the way sorry for the late reply, but my family has just returned from OS and I am getting in a bit of quality time with them.
I start the seeds today, right moon for it, so I will post up later what is going in....cheers all...K
