Hey everyone

I was just browsing another forum and noticed a member had posted a thread asking about the likelyhood of finding a Mango pheno in the Mango Haze.
I thought that was a pretty good question, however I am not a member at that forum so was unable to respond with my thoughts on the subject. It seems this poster and his friend had a debate on how probable the Mango pheno's are in a standard pack of seeds from MNS.
From my experience, having grown the Mango Haze twice now, there are definitely phenotypes of Mango Haze from MNS that are unmistakably Mango in both overall odor in flower and taste of the finished product. There isnt any need for a long cure, this is a natural characteristic of these particular haze lines and its no accident the name of the variety is Mango Haze. So for those of you curious if indeed there are true Mango phenotypes to be found within the MNS Mango Haze line up, have no doubts my friends, there is a such thing. Bigfoot does exist!
I found atleast three of these Mango phenotypes when I ran the Beta test seeds some years ago now, and from that experience I just assumed everybody was finding the same plants I had seen considering their seemingly prevalent ratio in my particular batch of seeds. Flash forward to this year, I attempted to germinate 7 Mango Haze seeds this season from newly acquired, fresh batch and managed to get three to come up. Oddly, it was the first three I started with. Thats how the marbles roll sometimes with seeds, its natural for some of them not to germinate.
And thus far out of the three Mango Haze plants I had out this season, none of them are Mango phenotypes. All three have been rather musky, skunk like in odor, very characteristic of what one would expect a marijuana plant to smell like. So not every handful of seeds sowed is going to be a Mango phenotype, common sense and also what Ive seen from my experience's with the variety hands on.
As it stands, I am still in possession of those original beta Mango Haze test seeds and if they germinate, I like my chances of finding a true representation of the Mango Haze phenotype. But to be honest, just finding a Mango phenotype isnt nearly all that I will be looking for. Its always about the end product, if I stumble acrossed a true champion in potency, yield, taste, speed, vigor etc. that isnt a Mango phenotype, you bet your sweet ass Im keeping that plant. But ideally, finding a Mango phenotype that has all of the above qualities and more is what one should be looking for here. There are going to be lots of Mango phenotypes, but like with any variety, there will be delegations of those phenotypes that are better than others. Its a numbers game, with alot of time and patience required.
All in all, a truely special variety. For those of you out there in cyber land, just lurking and checking things out, I highly recommend you acquire some Mango Haze seeds from Shanti. This is one of those varietys you will absolutely love to grow, but its also a variety that will require some real patience, as their sativa nature can require grow rooms to expand to accomodate their incredible vigor. Most of the varietys Ive seen, both in my garden and in numerous threads have been very sativa dominant varietys, typical haze hybrids in duration of maturation but the quaility is raved about by all. But there is a rumored existance of an 8 week phenotype of the Mango Haze in the MNS camp, while Ive never seen this personally confirmed, I wouldnt have any reason to suspect its not true or even out of the question. Again, its a numbers game. The more you run, the more you have to select from, the better overall quality your marijuana is going to be.
Stay tuned
