I've fallen, and I can't get up! Pass the Medicine Man...😷

I have a question for everyone. My Medicine Man are all still under 18/6 light/dark, but one of the males is dropping pollen. Is this normal? Should a quality breeding male require 12/12 before being able to drop pollen? Or is this a normal occurance.

I have limited experience with males. My Durban Poison I had never dropped pollen, but it was in a 5 gallon bucket. Would this affect it?

My only other males I've had were GDP which also dropped pollen, but they were in even smaller containers than my Medicine Man currently are. I assumed before that the GDP showed and produced pollen from overly tiny containers. Was I wrong?

Thank you everyone.

Edit:i suppose my question is, should I discard the male Medicine Man who is dropping pollen. Or, is he just doing what all other males would do in veg. Thanks again.

I've had it happen as well . My reasoning behind it is that preflowers become flowers so I would think it happens with a faster male when the flower matures . Some others just take longer to mature so they don't as quickly not sure if they would eventually drop pollen under 18/6

@Islandgrower do you happen to know if the pollen is viable?

All my plants are in the same room, albeit several small tents. I wouldnt wamt a male in veg to drop viable pollen and seed all of my ladies.

And a carbon filter should eliminate the chance of it getting to the females
Hmm... I hadn't planned on installing a carbon filter in the mum/pop chamber I'm building. I figured it unnecessary and rather large for the micro mums and pops.

Perhaps I should consider making a small custom carbon filter to keep the pollen contained. Besides F2's, I plan on searching for a decent pop to make some custom medicine with. I'll meed to keep the males alive and properly contained.

You have to decide wether this is a trait you want to carry on or not
As long as he keeps trucking along and doesn't slip into scenisense. I'm good. I'll keep him around until I have a few more males to compare to.

The second early declared males pollin sacks are getting larger. I assume he is a few days away from dropping pollen himself.

I checked on my veg tent last night after karaoke. I'd turned the light up to the second lowest setting. The Medicine Man were the biggest, but bow the SSH have gotten bigger than the Medicine Man.

I may take clones for flowering from My Medicine Man today. If the SSH are on their heels, I don't want to be taking clones from more than one variety at a time. Gotta get my Medicine Man going.

All 18 in the straw have shown preflowers, or straight up dropped pollen like big dogs! The ratio is 66.6% female/male! 12 out of the 18 are female with 6 males to keep an eye on for future F2's. Males: MM#3, MM#8, MM#9 *, MM#10, MM#13, MM#15. *MM#9 displays a light blush of purple on the bottom of his pollen sacks. Female: MM#1, MM#2, MM#4, MM#5, MM#6, MM#7, MM#11, MM#12, MM#14a, MM#14b, MM#17, MM#18. I couldn't be more excited about how many females I got out of my first straw popped from @shantibaba. #ShantiBlessed.

I took the clones five or six days ago. They still look lush and green. Exactly like the day I cut them. They are handling the cloning process wonderfully, which I can't say for my last batch of clones I took.

Seems that you are back on track ;)

Looking great (y)

Update: i see healthy fuzzy white roots coming out of the 2x2 nursery pots on some of the clones! Within the next few days, I will transplant into the next container. After that, one more transplant then into flower.

I need this Medicine. 😂 I'm down to my last 1/4 oz of street bud and perhaps another 1/8 of homegrown plus my last 1/8 of bubble hash.

Guess what? I made my first Mr. Nice Hybrid!!!!!:love::oops::oops::oops::oops::eek::eek::eek::rolleyes: No seriously, don't flip to the next thread. I know what you are thinking. Diesel840, you haven't even flipped a single plant into flower yet. How could you POSSIBLY have made a cross?

Well, that is a great point. Good job! :ROFLMAO:

Ok, seriously. Here is what happened. Two or three of my Medicine Man, which are growing in the same tent, dropped a little pollen even though they were in "veg". I say "veg" because my AC unit will occasionally come on and pop my circuit. I am fairly certain I remember it doing it a few times several weeks before they dropped pollen. I Know at one point between I thought the leaves looked like the fingers were decreasing. Just like they do in flower, but it went back to normal. I think the preflowers grew big enough that a few could open. Hardly any pollen dropped, and it was literally just a few sacks.

It appears that the pollen dropped was viable and pollinated the neighboring Black Widows pre-flower! I noticed the ovule about a week ago and was impressed and took a picture. I didn't know what it was at the time, a lude joke came to mind for @longball . but I contained my debaucherous joke. :ROFLMAO:

Well, when taking clones of the Black Widow I saw the ovule and popped out a seed! It is green, but solid. I officially have a Mr. Nice cross without having ever flowered a single one. Cool to know the preflowers can be successfully pollinated.

Ok, calm yourself after that miraculous seed porn. Up next is a picture of 9 of the 12 Medine Man, up potted and back in the tent to root some more before their flip. One of them had almost no roots developed yet, I didn't realize that until up potting. I transplanted it anyways and am just keeping an eye on it.
The three remaining Medicine Man females were dipped back in rooting hormone and put back with the other clones rooting. Those three unfortunately didn't have roots yet. They still look pretty healthy though. I did notice that all three, and the runt in the main tent, all had yellowing leaves. probably from the roots taking too long and my light being a bit too bright. I'll check on them in a few days and see how they do.

The 8 of the 9 Medicine man transplanted and put into the main tent all had good to great root development. I'll flip them into flower in a week or two.

Thanks for checking in.

Update: Eight of the nine Medicine Man transplanted last saturday are doing well and growing. Couple more days to fill out the roots, and I'll flip them into flower. The flowering containers they were trasplanted into are 5"x5"x6".

Yield will be woefully low per plant. But, I should get plenty of medicine overall growing them SOG style. Normally I grow 2-5 plants in 3-5 gal containers. This will be my first pheno hunt and first time utilizing Sea Of Green. The goals to find a stellar gal to keep, and a stud to make f2's.

The ninth MM transplanted has yellowed a bit on its top leaves. I assume the LED is a bit too powerful for the plant. It had barely started to form roots, but I uppotted it anyways. I've moved it to the corner of the flowering tent.

Stay frosty.
