'Hazy Haze'

Haz3 great read man. I was wondering what haze was used in the Afghan Haze? Also I just got my hands on alittle gem that's going around locally here. It's called BlackHaze, Black Widow x Original Haze. Just got 8 clones. Very interesting smoke. When I have the room I want to run some Mango Haze. After recently smoking some SSH and Black Haze I'm know on a Haze kick. I want MORE haze. The indicas are great for pain managment but I just love me some haze now. I also got some AH x AS too that I can't wait to run.

I am glad you find it an interesting read. It is Haze'C' in Afgan Haze from what I read from shanti. ShitHaze, EQHaze & SSH have only haze'C' in the blood too.

And the Nev's is the only 1 with the haze'A'. I've been checking out Fijian Tokers grow of Nev's/Mango on HG and I'm really interested in that. I would like to run the Mango first so at least I can get to know that part of the plant.

nevils haze and mango haze have HazeA in the pedigree.

I bumped upon an old post from shanti over icmag and thought to post it here as its haze talk thread. Its about NH / NHxMH selection:

Shantibaba said:
''But to help you with NH or any of its hybrids you should take a clone from the seed mother as this usually finishes 2-3 weeks before the seed mother...in my experience. Then concentrate on any plant finishing between 12-14 weeks if any go longer then I believe they are not worth to pursue. The phenotype will be predominantly Haze so it is not the easiest of plants to do correctly.''

Hi Cytrax and all,

By the way I would like to ask if anyone of you has noticed differences in stretch and perhaps any increases in phychoactivity and complexity of the high with haze hybrids when using a hps/mh combo compared to only hps.I have used mixed lighting a few times and had very good results especially with sativas , I believe it kept them more healthy ..but I 've never run side by side comparison tests. So I 'd love to hear what other people have experienced.I ve also read that there has been some research regarding light regime affecting potency/THC content, it mentioned that plants that grow with less than 10hrs light on they seem to start lose potency any thoughts on that as well?

L33t

Hi L33t,
Great thread, i've been thinking of trying this out for me next grow, although not a side by side comparison grow as such, just to see if the HPS+MH does improve Psychoactivity and overall end result in the finished product, i know of a grower on another forum who after years of growing now only uses a MH on it's own, no HPS at all and really swears by the results, yeild is supposed to be affected majorly compared to a HPS or HPS+MH grow but the potency is supposed to be unbelievable in comparison to a HPS grow. As you say it would be really interesting to see a comparison grow, or even a 3-way comparison grow :

1. HPS
2. HPS + MH
3. MH

all grown on a clone basis, same strain, conditions, medium, nutes e.t.c

It's times like this it would be great to have a bigger grow room, or more growing facilities to really experiment with things like this and lightiing - it would be interesting tweaking and altering the usage of both the MH bulbs and the HPS bulbs throughout the 12 hour (day) cycle (or whatever day flowering cycle your using)

i.e (timeline for the 12 hour day cycle based on using MH + HPS bulbs (4 bulbs in use at 1 time):

(Numbers = which hour)

Hours 1-3: 3 MH + 1 HPS Bulbs turned on

Hours 4-6: 2 MH + 2 HPS Bulbs turned on

Hours 7-9: 1MH + 3 HPS Bulbs turned on

Hours 10-12: 3 MH + 1 HPS Bulbs turned on

the only problem is you'd have to have more than 4 lighting systems rigged up so the number change between bulbs would be easier than changing hot bulbs by hand.

But as it happens this is only wishful thinking on my part being able to try this out as i'm still using the same lighting/ballast when i first started growing, a 400w Powerplant duel MH/HPS Ballast, so at this stage it only gonna be a 1 bulb grow at the minute but hopefully next grow i'll have another ballast/lighting unit to do the HPS + MH grow i mentioned earlier

Peace

Herb

If you like to maybe read on UK420 a thread on The Real Original haze grown buy gant? ( I think it is) Those were genetics one of the haze bros sent out (last batch of pure haze) to many breeders hopeing they would want the pure sativa(not dutch/basterdised like the O haze is now), when infact it was left untouched untill the late 2006. Now ACE seeds are selling seed from that stock.

Not hijacking this thread, Just I notice the haze bros get mentioned for passing their haze to nev

Hi wisp

To be honest with you I am quite familiar with Gant's/Ot1's Haze.Infact I was one from the growers that Gant offered his Original Haze Seeds among ACE Shanti and other growers back in Cannabis World days. Unfortunately I didn't grow em in the end I declined and let the other growers receive the 10seeds I was offered . Good thing though is that I had the pleasure to sample most of Ot1 pure Haze phenos from ACE and I have expressed openly my opinion about them numerous times.

There is a 'grey fog' surrounding the name of this Ot1 sativa line , some say its not real Haze , real Haze from the Haze Bros genetics. But then some say the same for MNS Hazes ... as far as I am concerned in the end its all down to what.. and who you chose to believe.. The Ot1 Hazes are a very nice pure sativa line Haze or not I cant say but I can say that they do smoke like Haze smell like Haze and get you high..like Haze. It doesn't really matter to me if they do trace back to Haze Bros lines , ACE Seeds got this line named as Haze and sell these genetics as Haze the line seemed like Haze to me and I can only say I am not going to get in any sort of debate about its authenticity as the smoke and plants speak for themselves . MNS Haze hybrids are top quality genetics and I also have to say Ot1 Hazes from ACE are very very nice especially considering its a line that hasnt been worked but is preserved from our Spanish brothers. For me this pure sativa line is definitely special , has all sorts of phenos and its really hazy , so .. Haze Bros haze or not ..personally i 'd love to grow it sometime.. . I am sure they are a very nice line to breed with to make sat/ind hybrids . Anyway here it is the MNS forums so I think the best thing is to focus on MNS Haze hybrids which are the best haze hybrids around:cool:.

well said

I do personally own some MNS Nevs Haze (been in fridge year +) but not got time or room just yet .

I do plan hacking with them sometime (maybe a fast male to my Cindy99), as Ive ad Nevs haze hybrids (Grapefruit haze) in past and the nevs haze seems dominant and was some powerful sativa.

I like everyone prefer sativas just that my time this year isn't permitting a pure sativa grow (at least not till after summer) so I will continue to see how all you do with this wonderfully nr pure sativa.

hi guys you know if you do your research you will soon work out what is what and who infact has coused a lot of this confution / fog fact is haze had to of come from the brothers who were not breedrs and if people like it or not the real breeding of haze was done in urope and nevile did get real haze seed and it was not from sam.

The Mr nice haze used is real haze there strains have proven them selfs over time as has nevile and shanti so as i see it theres no gray or fog around there lines.

I will find more to post from ot1 when i get time to go threw my saved archives.

Having been on the forums for a great many years now, Ive seen alot of things said by different people. But like Shanti says, the proof is in the seed. And the MNS Haze is without question some of the better marijuana to be found anywhere, regurdless of company or strain. Its simply, awesome.

No company walks the walk, and talks the talk like MNS does and this is proof of the quality genetics and people behind the scenes. Shanti is as honest of a man, as you're going to find. So I have no reason to question his word or that of Nevilles when it comes to the lineage and history of their varietys. The marijuana community and culture owe a great deal to Neville and his work with the seed bank in the 80s. Virtually every major cannabis variety can be traced back to him at one point or another so there really isnt any question about the authenticity of the MNS lines. Any of them actually.

The wonderful thing about all of this is, Neville is the guy who started it all and is still with MNS to this day. So there is no third party, or room for speculation on the genetics possessed by MNS. They are simply the real deal, and this is evident by the incredible success Shanti and company have enjoyed over the years. Shanti has top companys in the industry by their stock from him, and a good majority of the industry has ripped his and nevilles work off at one point or another. When you do your reseach, it all comes back to MNS at the end of the day. Thats how I arrived with MNS almost 10 years ago now, and Ive been supporting and growing MNS lines ever sense.

The OT1 haze is said by OT1 himself not to be related to the original haze, and as far as im concerned its an open and shut case in that regurd. It may very well be good(although Ive heard mixed reviews on that) but its not the real haze from the Haze brothers, which as hempy pointed out are the source of the legitimate Haze as we know it today.

The proof is in the seed, and I can assure you all the MNS Haze is absolutely able to hold its own with any variety on the market. The best variety Ive grown to date, from any bank is the MNS Mango Haze. I was one of the original Beta testers of the Mango Haze and still have the beta test seeds in the fridge waiting for their time once again. Which hopefully, will be within the year.

Take care all,

JessE

Hi all

Hi Jesse, hi hempy

Hempy,

Personally I think I can say I 've read quite a lot on Hazes and their history, thing is that in the end of the day all you can do is trust the ones you wish to believe..None of us was there back then so we all learn and read about the history of these plants and special genetics from people that know more and had the chance to work with these lines like Nev Sam and Shanti etc. So basically its all info from people like breeders that have worked with Haze and all I can say is everyone is free to believe whatever and whoever he wants to believe. Thats the great thing about freedom of speech after all .. Personally I believe Shanti as the genetics speak for themselves and I want to believe that the history of these lines is presented today accurately. I agree with you hempy that lots of Haze breeding was done in Europe and I believe that Nev's pure Haze lines have proven themselves numerous times in the form of many MNS Haze hybrids.

Hempy as far as Sam is concerned , we all heard his recent input regarding MNS hazes , like I 've said earlier , everyone is free to believe whatever he wants to believe.., personally I believe that even though the actual source Nev got his OHaze seeds is not known , we all do know that the mns hazes trace back to OH from Haze bros .So unlike Sam I dont really care if the MNS Hazes are indeed from '69 Haze Bros seedstock or more recent.. or ..if they were received by Nev from the Hz Bros , directly or not.... or if the MNS Hazes are from the genetics he(Sam) gave to Nev.... or know if they were from other sources or the Bros themselves...I am really tired reading speculations and trying to figure out the real story.I only try to read and believe the people who have worked with these plants as at least they can have a more objective opinion .So what I do know and care is that these great genetics that Shanti is kind enough to be still working with and making all these special lines available to so many people and make em all happy growers, is what is the proof and that is what matters most to me .

Like I said I cant really say if its Haze Bros .. it could we well be a nice oldschool pure sativa hybrid consisting of similar genetics that Haze from the Bros was consisting of , like Thai Columbian Mexican Indian. Like I said to me this Haze line seemed interesting , I wouldn't compare them with mns hazes as I ve only seen them in hybrid form and the OT1 line is pure sativa with no indica genes and is not worked and bred much for improving characteristics like taste potency it was mainly reproduced from ACE so many people could access these genetics trying to keep this old line alive . I know the name is important etc but the plants and smoke were very nice and very sativa /hazy.Anyway I think we should stay on topic and focus on MNS hazes.

hiya l33t mate i have read so much my self i spent from 2002 to i would say 2005 reading some times 12 hours a day see i know cannabis the plant studyed it for basicly 30 years what i did not know was the cannabis industrie and the strain lines that make the modern geno pool so i read and read socking it all up like a spunge i read the mr nice forum at cw from start to end completly at lest 2 times alone lol so i to have read a lot and haze was a big thing i researchet also but lets be frank here how much of what is posted is in fact real facts ?,Very little as most is not posted by people that were there.

I belive people that have ernt my trust and shantibaba ak shanti is one of them infact his one of few i trust and i say it openly mate.

Shanti has posted stateing its the real deal and were nevile collected it from.

From what i understand L33t the breeding was done in urope the HZbrothers were not breeders stated by a few just growers.

The thing is l33t if shanti sed 69 then its 69 trust me on this shanti dont stretch the facts.

Sam sed neville got his worse fem clone a few years later its his worse male but regardles why would any one keep a clone if it is not worthy sam also sed he did not work with nevile then sed he did its up to each to work that out.

Mr nice haze was selected from seed the people to be asking about the haze used by mr nice is shanti or neville mate as neville dont post leves shanti and his posted a lot threw the years on there haze.

Like I said mate is up to who one wishes to believe.. personally I agree with ya and I believe that mns is legitimate with us the growers and I enjoy mns strains .. thats why we are all here after all..

Yes they are mate very honest growers who dont think of them selfs as gurus stand behind there products and customer suport not much more can be expected from them.

They seam to be a nice sative hybreed reson i am saying hybreed is simple there expresing diffrent phinos what matters is the growers growing them are happy all that matters right.

I will end by saying this l33t i like you and this is not directed at you or Ace seeds who i think are cool guys by the way.

When the ot1 sativa post started at the mr nice forum at cw i sed to a few of the old mr nice army guys in privert watch this turn into a shit fest a few posts later it started with pacific and not long later i am reading the dutch haze is waterd down or inbreed or in short is inferea to ot1 line and so on then we start to read on the boards how mr nice haze was from sams worse clone and the rest of the lies.

What people fail to understand is some people could see what was going on and started to archive posts and info that can prove a given line is not whats stated by the person whos names on it that is fact and to avoid dramas people have sat back and let things go basicly.

See thats the diffrence when things are not as they are stated there story seldem stays the same mate.

I was surfing with the WayBackMachine/Internet archive today
( http://web.archive.org/collections/web/advanced.html ) and was looking up for old canna related websites .

I bumped onto some nice info on MNS old strain releases in Heaven's Stairway's site and thought to post the Haze relevant info here:

''El Niño:

Family Heritage: A quarter Sativa and three quarters Indica.''

I always had the impression that the LaNina was not a direct cross between White Widow Male and the pure Haze Female, and I was glad I found that old info that backs that up .

It seems it is most probably a Hz x WW backcrossed to WW .

The info was found here:http://web.archive.org/web/20000118080744/hempqc.com/main2.htm
Its under pruducts > MrNice Seeds > ElNino.

It also has some interesting info/descriptions on strains that are not produced anymore like Himalayan Gold and Merry Crystal.

Very true Barletta,

I though of that thats why I didnt say 'its the case' , but ''it seems like''.

The ''3/4 Indica'' , could be a 'generalization', Meaning, the selected WW male used in the cross was almost completely indica dominant. One thing is certain , it ain't a direct cross between WW male and pure Haze female , cause it says in the description only ''1/4 Sativa''.
And LaNina gives very fast plants which means that the WW side must be very indica dominant/very fast .

It would be really nice to hear from Shanti some more details on the makeup of this excellent strain Its always nice to hear more info about the plants we grow n love.

I really enjoyed growing LaNina , very unique strain , I would reccomend it to anyone that would like to try a nice frosty strain that has Haze in it and that doesnt have any NL/SK .

I particularly loved a sativa/hazy pheno which had a fuel-ly smell. BTW I found a MH plant that had almost the exact same fuelly smell.

Yeah, I have a pack of LaNina to open, and I'm sure that I'll run into something delicious..

It is just way off to say that a 100% sativa (haze) added to an at most 50% indica could be '1/4 sativa'. I would bet that heaven's stairway just made the description up. From what I've seen of the grows (mostly yours, lol) and the description (8-10wks) is looks like (haze x indica dom widow)x widow, or something similar is very possible.

I know that there is a lot of b.s. about the origins of the widow, but..

Brazillian x South Indian

No Brazillian landrace indicas that I know of....

I was under the impression that the herb from S. India/Kerala was Very sativa dom. Not like a skinny leafed, tall indica (bud structure, finish time, seed size), but like a kali-mist/haze sativa.

Anyway, I LOVE to dig into the backgrounds of the MJ plant, and that is 1 of the reasons that MrN is my fave seed co. The transparency.

I am thinking that I may run these LaNinas in a few months. What was the % of sativa dom Shits for you? I have 2 girls, both stay so short.... I have 10 shits to run, and may run 2-3 La nina's to get a feel for her.

Has Shanti reccommended a pheno/trait(s) to look out for as far as being a keeper? Did you keep a LaNina? Shit?

Yeah, I have a pack of LaNina to open, and I'm sure that I'll run into something delicious..
I m sure you ll find something nice to keep in a pack. If you want to find a Hazy keeper I d say run 2 packs just to be sure. But if you want a sat/ind Widow dominant hybrid keeper I think 1 pack will guaranty you ll get one.
It is just way off to say that a 100% sativa (haze) added to an at most 50% indica could be '1/4 sativa'.
No one said that. I said that if the selected WW was almost 100% indica , and if also LN is (HazexWW)xWW , then LN would be 1/4 sativa indeed.
I would bet that heaven's stairway just made the description up. From what I've seen of the grows (mostly yours, lol) and the description (8-10wks) is looks like (haze x indica dom widow)x widow, or something similar is very possible.
I dont think they made it up cause I remember (if my memory serves me well) reading the same thing from shanti elsewhere. (That LN is 3/4 Indica that is) . And the same descriptions were on other seed reseller' sites too..
I know that there is a lot of b.s. about the origins of the widow, but..
Brazillian x South Indian
No Brazillian landrace indicas that I know of....
Who said that the Brazilian is an indica??
If you check the strain description here on this site of BW it clearly says Brazilian Sativa. Not Brazilian indica.
I was under the impression that the herb from S. India/Kerala was Very sativa dom. Not like a skinny leafed, tall indica (bud structure, finish time, seed size), but like a kali-mist/haze sativa.
Actually the description here is somewhat 'incomplete', is 'general' , meaning I ve read from shanti numerous times that the South Indian Side is not an Indica but a South Indian Hybrid.
Anyway, I LOVE to dig into the backgrounds of the MJ plant, and that is 1 of the reasons that MrN is my fave seed co. The transparency.
That makes two of us Barletta. Some people may not want to know the background of the strains they grow, but I see it as a learning process , so I can identify where specific traits/aromas etc come from in the hybrid we grow in our gardens.
Shit?
I only grew 2 Shit females , they were pretty identical in the looks and smoke. I couldnt say they stayed 'short' , for example they were taller than all my CMass but they were within reasonable limits.Unfortunately I couldnt keep clones at the time so no I didnt Keep any Shit/LN but when I run them again I know what to look for especially with LN. Its all down to personal preference, me, I d keep the Hazy LN it was one of the best smokes I had from Haze Hybrids. Unique flavor and aroma.Very uplifting , instant effect too. Not very long lasting maybe compared to other strains but very very enjoyable.

EDIT:
One thing to remember is you can have a cross between a pure sativa and a pure indica and the plant you finally select from this cross can be almost 100% sativa . In the papers that plant is still 50% sativa but..in reality its not, its almost 100% sativa.
Some genes are more dominant that others .
Now if you use this selected plant to make another strain you d most probably say that this was 100% Sativa and go from there , I hope you get what I mean.Personally I believe that this is the case with LN , being an almost 100% indica Widow male used and LN makeup is Haze x WW , backrossed to WW male. Thus the ''1/4 sat and 3/4 indica'' descriptions.

Yeah man I am not trying to argue with you. Nowhere did I say or mean to imply that YOU made those claims, as you had clearly stated that the '3/4 indica' was from another source. I mentioned Brazillian Indica as a way of narrowing down where the indica genetics (didn't) come from without all of the extra typing.

I have not researched the widow past what is out there minus the drama. I have not grown widow. I have not grown LaNina. I have smoked bud that was given to me from a grower friend 3rd party. I guess he got it from a grower who told him it was WW, but whose, IDK. It smoked like a spicy, contemplative sativa. Lil bit of eye bleeding teeth grinding on the puffs, as it was strong herb. The same dude has gifted some GH fem ww's to a mutual buddy of ours, and while I haven't seen them (the less I know the better) I am told that they have FAT fingers, and are the largest indoor leaves that he has ever seen.

I am not out to prove anybody right or wrong, or blow smoke, or start shit. I guess I really don't have anything more to say on the subject until I actually grow these seeds out.

EDIT - Nowhere in the equation is there a cross between a pure indica and a pure sativa as you state. Brazillian (sat) x S.indian (you speculate that it is a hybrid, and I have no problem with that, however it stands to reason that it would be S.Indian Dom hybrid if that's used in naming the origins) so 100% sat x (max)50% indy = 75% Sativa genes in the F1 gen. Even if Shanti selected an indica dom F1 widow to breed the haze (100%sat) with, he is still passing the 50% of genetic code in the f1 widow. Some of the traits are not showing themselves. The genetic make up is impossible to get to 75% indica (ACTUAL genetic parentage) of LaNina unless the S.indian side is 75% indica or more. And unless it is 100% indica, figgure all of the back crossing..

I m sorry barletta , I thought that you meant I made those claims , sorry if I misinterpreted your post.

I m sure about that man , no doubt. BTW I havent grown the Widow either , so my only experience as a grower with it is only through the LN .I ve tried the with the Shark Shock as well but I didnt grow it myself , a good friend did and had the chance of sampling all the phenos he got.
One thing is certain , you wont be disappointed growing LN.
