Ortega
May we please get a clearer picture which plants are combined to form your version of Ortega, Shanti?
My plan is to take a line of “89 NL5” (presumably NL5 x NL2) that were worked by Melvanetics to F5 and combine this with an Ortega male to stockpile NL genetics for preservation and future R&D.
I’ve selected the Ortega as the potential sire line based on my assumption that the Y chromosome traces back to NL1.
I know Nevil combined an Ortega MLI female with an NL1 male in the past, and I have presumed this to have been combined with your 2008 NL5 mother selection to create the current Ortega stock. Can you comment on how warm I am in my hypothesis?
ORTEGA = ‘08 NL5 x Ortega15/NL1
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: The second potential mother candidate will be a selection from Coastal Seed’s “UFO” which is the 1979 Romulan cut crossed to an NL1 stud. The results of such a schedule would combine NL1 sire lines over the unrelated Afghani lines (Maple Leaf Indica and Romulan).
