Mezcal is one of the only alcohol I drink...

It does not make you drunk..you are just totally fucked up...

The effect is nearer to a drug than any other alcohol.

Cheers.

patron....

haha

ok... heres how it goes... agave is always pure... its the tequila which is diluted, sugar cane i believe.... But any great tequila is always 100 percent and exclusively from the agave plant, has to be grown in the state of jalisco, and is always ¨reposado¨

funny thing about patron is, patron is NOT sold in Mexico, barring border towns and port towns where cruise ships dock... its a tequila made for the export market... considering the biggest amount of tequila connoisseurs live in Mexico, i find it strange that patron is not sold there.... having had an opportunity to sample many tequilas for many many years, i have to say that patron is waaaaay overrated...

Try Don Ramon, my personal fave... or Jose Cuervo Tradicional

simply put, Patron is a gringo´ tequila....remember, if its not 100 percent de agave, if its not reposado, and if it isnt from Jalisco, it is SHIT

as far as beer goes, Negra Modelo as a dark, and Pacifico or Indio are two of my faves from mexico.... best beer i ever had was pilsner urquell from tap when i was in Prague... the Budweiser there is also uncomparable to the Budweiser in the States...

also, anyone ever notice that a freshly opened bottle of Corona will sometimes smell like cannabis?

love an respect

Interesting you should say that Patron is a gringo tequila as this Sliver Patron was recommended to me by a very good friend from Puerto Escondido who represented Mexico in the Olympics in swimming......so he is not really a gringo.
He liked it I liked it and I must say it is alot better than the Tequila that I tried in the village of Chacahua when it came in in a barrel:D.
But I must admit it was a drunken night on this rocket fuel that led me to find my Highland Oaxacan, so in a way this was the best Tequila ever:D

hahaha.... awesome kanga

only reply i have to that is that if your friend is truly from Puerto Escondido, and not some other nearby beach town, then he has been living with gringos for a while, as its the most populated city on that coastal strip for a while, as you know since you have been there... I dont doubt your friend was an incredible surfer, as i have met some amazing surfers myself while up and down Oaxaca´s coast...

i do also have to say that the best herb i ever had in my life was found in a beach town not far from P Escondido, called Mazunte... special place

heres a link to a writeup i made for Nevil about herb in Mex

and by the way, kashrocks, yes mezcal does carry a much stronger kick to the balls, not surprising especially when you drink as much as whats in that glass...

but if you want a truly hallucenigenic experience from a mexican drink i suggest pulque.... made from agave as well, it is chewed and then spit into a jar.... some funky fermentation process happens, and then a white gooey substance which will FUCK you up comes out... actually, pulquerias used to be very very common in mexico.... now, its not sold in stores and can only be found by asking old men passed out on the street if any of their family members happen to have made any recently... they will take you there, their only fee is to ask you to buy them a cup of it... Pulque... you all will remember me

curiosly all 3 come from agave, tequila, mezcal, and pulque.... though diff types of agave....i believe tequila is from the blue agave plant.... curiously very similar looking to the aloe plant.... i guess they are related...

I used to drink a bottle in the evening when I was a teenager.

Never had the luck to experiment it but I would like...:D

My favourite Mezcal was the Bronco brand, especially the yellow one.

Peace.

techinically, if you had tequila that was produced in Chacahua, im not surprised you liked Patron more... as if it was truly produced in Chacahua, which is in Oaxaca i believe, then it cant be true tequila, as true tequila, as per Mexican law, has to be from the state of Jalisco the same way that cava is not champagne... or that a Rioja wine or a Vilafranc del penedes has to be from a certain part of spain...

its called denominacion de origen...

sorry for rambling....

first off, if we speak of swill that is mexican in origon we must defer to the expertise of mr. fxginbcn whom i recognize as a mexican resident from comments in previous threads.

and noting his comments on beer, i confess to being one yank who dislikes beer made in the usa. my choice is mexican and i drink one six pack a day as a rule and the brand is modelo, the especial and not the dark thick stuff. a bartender once suggested that the reasoning behind my choices is that all beer made in the usa uses corn sugar whereas mexican beer (and soda pop) has cane sugar as a primary ingredient. in lieu of any other explanation, i now offer this barkeep version as my reasoning. mexican soft drinks are way better as well imho.

mr. fxginbcn will also inform us that most of the alcohol sold out of various barrels and tubs is in fact, mezcal. every tiny mexican hamlet also had a brewery of sorts making this stuff in its various forms. and no offense is meant to kashrocks or other proponents of mezcal. this particular drink was far down the food chain from that sold in bottles in europe and elsewhere. i noted lines outside of these distilleries a block long and most men had their own bottles to be filled as that was the cheapest means of purchasing this southern delight. i was told that in a village only a few km's away the concoction would be entirely different but still called mezcal? nor did i ever drink any of this. i looked at some bottles that had been filled and noted floatsam i could not identify? miserable ockers. peace-biteme

Then it must be good. I have to check it out one of these days.

I am not a connoisseur of tequila, but I do love it. When I drink tequila I drink Souza, cause it is pure, smooth, and doesn't hit you too hard in the pocket book.

I like to make green tequila, with Souza, just take a 5th of tequila put it in a jar with a 1/2 of primo shake, leave it in a dark room or closet, shake it up every couple days, for a week or 2 and then run it through a coffee filter, wring out the shke into the jar through the filter, and Walla---Green tequila.
A couple shots of this stuff and you will be flying up to Happyville!

I love Pulque, second time I went to Mexico I took a friend with me and being British and beer drinkers we thought this mysterious white stuff the locals were swilling like we swill pints of beer would be quite inocuous so we were knocking it back and halfway through the second litre we found everything hilarious and the locals found is hilarious. I don't recall the evening that clearly after that. Had a rotten hangover the next day, worse that a tequila one. We learnt to treat the pulque with a little more respect after that. The plain stuff is a bit nasty but thy do tons of different flavourings, the strawberry one is nice to wash down a plate of chili con carne de burro.

I try not to have any in my house. I tend to become an unruly prick when drinking agave products. I look for fights. The green fairy is another booze I stay away from. That is some wicked shit

So hempy

= hempy gyrating around the dancefloor so energetically that everyone else has to move over to the corner, where you round them up and mesmerize them with your moonwalk ??

good hempy:D

You are not alone...

I have seen a lot of people becoming crazy after drinking it.

It did not make me violent.

On the other side I remember not being able to climb up the stairs to my flat which was yet at the first floor.

So I slept on the doormat of the entry...:o

What I liked is that the day after you could remember everything you had done under Mezcal unlike other strong alcoholic beverages.

Actually sometime it would be better not to remember...

I think the last time I drank Mezcal was at least 10 years ago.

Peace.

Ok, ok all you alcoholics......Time to get back to the Grail:D
I think we have had some great info on Tequila and the odd beer, but I do believe this is a MJ forum:D

The Absinthe was just plain flat out crazy shit. It tastes absolutely horrible like strong anise.

I have a special knife spoon tool that you lay across your glass and place a sugar cube on. Its dark green in color but turns white like milk as You pour it over the sugar cube. Forget that its 70 plus percent alcohol. Its the wormwood drug that gets You.

Everyone that had 2-3 shots of it at my house was unconcious very soon after.
I had this one guy over. He weighed about 300 lbs. He was out cold after 3 shots. and didnt get up off the floor for 10 hours. I was unconcious on the keyboard of my PC. My Sons and his were apparently jumping up and down on his belly, and He never awoke.

These seeded branches on the Honeydew Headband are about ready to pick. I see seeds sticking out on the one pollenated by Nevilles Haze. The Mango Haze and Oaxacan/Durban pollenated branches have a good amount of seeds as well. Id like to run these new crosses soon.:)

How long shall I dry the seeds, before popping them? Any suggestions? 3 weeks? 4?

i never dried any seeds, as i see them falling out of their bud on the ground and sprouting the same season in late summer / early autum

a mature seed is a ready seed, if you grown properly your seed (not bud due to different nute regime) you can go right ahead

btw another factor of bad breeding ^^ as greed and money keeps the seed makers on the bud-nute-regime , i wonder which regime use shanti and nevil lol

and now something completly different :p

curious who will guess them :p

I drank 1L of Absinthe with 4 others friends at one time and we ALL finished with what we ate on the floor. I dont remember how many shoots we drunk but next day only thinking of the Absinthe make me wanna puke again.

So I think 12 shoots is wow non-standing mode FOR SURE.
