Grail: The Ultimate Haze Hybrid

as for the SMCG ive been intrigued for many years by this stain of yesteryear and from my reasearch most of the OT's who ive asked to shared their experience with this line report the frankincense trait ,there are quite a few reports or responses to me on IC i believe here aswell, there seems to be more than one soucre that hasdt his line alive

recently in this thread osoloco69 reported som info on colombian imports his description for the
Santa Marta Gold It has a very spicy/sandalwoody/piney flavor

which to me is very similar too the neville haze pheno i had last year, aswell as an almost exact was reported by dutchgrown from IC who said neville personally gifted her NH seeds

now throw in catpiss and this is NYC haze and has also been reported to be very similar to the fourth variety of OHAZE (all in the same convo) ,which i believe was the gold pheno

description from attitude seed bank which use to be labeled haze bros haze
also there was sandlewood used in the description
Reeferman Seeds Original Haze is is the original haze from the Haze Brothers, from which all haze hybrids derive. It has a strong cat piss smell and is a super long flowering sativa. It is a very special strain, ideal for breeding. This strain has the biggest stretch out of almost all other strains - it can grow huge if allowed to do so
..

its sad that somtimes when a breeders gets dropped from a site the info goes aswell i dont agree with that but who am i

wel any how if i recall correct reef told me there was a incense/sandlewood pheno of smcg but the pheno parent used for LP was the lemon pledge type

this convo was at thc farm and has beeen erased along with the thread i started to him about his haez bros haze were i was told it was impractical to grow ,and i responded how i always do quality is my only concern

id love for you nev to consider using the (frankincense) colombian gold as a canidate

dj short's description

Colombian Gold
Colombian Gold came from the highland Colombian valleys near the equator, as well as on the coast (the Caribbean and the Pacific).

This was specialty pot offered commercially in the mid-70's, for about $60 to $100 per ounce. It was seeded, but most of the seeds were undeveloped, white and useless. A few rare, viable seeds were found that were dark, small-sized and roundish. The buds were leafy and the most beautiful golden blond color. Legend has it that upon maturity the plants were girdled, then left standing to die and cure in the mountain sun and mist.

The color and cure were unique, and the aroma, flavor and high were equally so. The smell was that of sandalwood incense, almost like frankincense. The flavor was that of a peppery cedar. It was some of the most unique tasting herb in the world, and the high was just as exciting. It was truly psychedelic, powerful and long lasting.

First came the great flavor, then the stupefying awe of the shift in consciousness followed by a giddy excitement and bursts of joyous laughter. Smile-lock and red-eye made it painfully obvious who was under the influence of this great psychedelic herb

the SMCG is still kickin' in reef's stable;)SMCG, if i'm not mistaken, is one of his most valuable breeding cornerstones:) a classic iconoclast

The more I read about Oaxacan, the more I want to run some. I have been searching all over the net and cant find any seeds available.
Does anyone have any leads where I can obtain some of these special seeds? Im preparing for a big Haze run within a month.

DP

I'm on the hunt for some too. Check out Mextiza from Cannabiogen, Mexican Haze from Kiwi Seeds, and Chimera's Highland Mex X Blueberry. I'm leaning towards the Mexican Haze from Kiwi, anyone else feel free to add any other suggestions. Good luck!

I heard Reeferman recently sold his his SMG lines that he used to create Love Potion to Dave Watson at GW for 80,000, although I can't remember where I heard it now:confused:

Apparently GW wanted it due to the concentration of lemon terpenoids.

I could be wrong but that's the story floating around my skull:rolleyes:

The love potion is a really nice smoke, although not sure how stable the lines are,Reef seems very hit and miss.

Peace, GG

Kiwi seeds Mexican Haze is Nev's Nl5/Haze cut x a Mexican male, it's a really nice smoke but not a grail strain.

????

Yes that's another good candidate SMCG.
Incense indeed.
Is this the same plant that was the mom to Skunk#1?

From the mid '80s onward, descendants of Haze C penetrated most corners of the world. Americans and Canadians (enterprising buggers) set up projects throughout South America and more. American and Italian diplomats (spooks) came in embassy cars and bought substantial quantity's of seed for God knows what projects. Those were strange times! Feral hill-billies from Canada and the U.S., who had been dirt poor for 7 generations, suddenly started earning money and sometimes they'd put their brightest young fella on a plane with a brand spanking new passport and send him off to see me. I've met some characters, but mostly they were good old boys and I did what I could to help them get to where they were going.

I once had a map of the U.S. and I put red dots where I'd (allegedly) sent seeds to, (just for my own private amusement). Let me tell you, those red dots changed that map.

The point I'm making with this stoned story, is that most of the wonders that I have tracked down, ended up being descendants of Haze C and NL5. Lots of experimental stuff that did not find it's way into the catalogue got sold to people who came to see me, often tailored to their particular needs. Varieties with a reliable provenance prior to '85 are more likely to be what we are looking for. I didn't ship to Australia and New Zeeland, being my own back yard, but even so, others did and I sold seeds to just about anyone with money who came to see me.

I hope I don't have to go back and delete this, I'm a bit stoned after smoking my first joint in two days. I'll remember this as the "Great Drought" of 2010.

Here is some thai sativa growing outdoors in Subtropical Australian Sunshine.

I have alot of sativa bagseed that comes from a variety of different people in their travells across various parts of the world. I make a habbit of collecting seed from peoples pot and quizing any smoker/grower on what lineages they hold etc.

My favourite sativa plant I will remember for a lifetime. (NOT SHOWN BELOW) It was pure .. as pure as it comes. Uknown lineage. However a phreak. It tasted like seaweed, had spindles of leaf as buds, with the smallest calaxes I have ever seen. No visible resin glands to the eye, however when viewed under the correct light a silvery trail was visible, much like a snails trail. I'm assuming resin glands as small as they come. Little or no smell, faint perfume smell. No bag appeal whatsover, laughable. However if you can muster the seaweed endurance, joints would drip with resin after one or two tokes. -wtf indeed. The most amazing high, indescribable, the best high i've ever had. :D Definately not grail material, but it deserves it's discriptive place in this thread imo. A pheno from random australian import sativa, Lost forever, never forgotten. :(

Suscribed to this thread with much interest.

Please Nevil, next time you're that short of smoke shoot me a PM and I'll drive wherever you want with an ounce of heads for you. It would be an honour! Shouldn't take more than 24hrs as long as you're on the east coast :D

This is the description of Haze C.

This is the description of Haze C

thats surprising and intriguing aswell

im curious to know im not great with terminologies or the real inepth points of breeding and such ,but wen you said earlier quote below

I'm looking for the pheno that is leaning towards the Columbian side of haze C

if its a clone only male wouldnt it show only one reprentation or becaz the parents are lumbo/thai could the offspring express more of the other parent

all along its be said/reported that the hazeC was a thai side, while haze A was known to be the lumbo side HZC sweet/choc HZA spicy/incense

for example your hz hybrids from 88 such as NL5HZ SILVERHAZE are badly missed by those who have experienced n those such as myself who havnt experienced the spice of yesteryear ,a thread was started that IMO i thought would have got more attention how the haze hybrids now are sweet in comparison too your old varieties

you have reported your experience of thai to be liver/leather im not sure if thats of the better ones you have experienced in the past or of the traits of OHAZE that was thai leaning ,its agreed by most that CRED/CG are the main strains that come to mind when FRANKINCENSE is spoke of aside from a handful who have told me S.Easian with cambodian red /yunnan /thai that are known to have this frankincense trait aswell

I once had a map of the U.S. and I put red dots where I'd (allegedly) sent seeds to, (just for my own private amusement). Let me tell you, those red dots changed that map

lol
thats somthin i would do for kicks

Lots of experimental stuff that did not find it's way into the catalogue got sold to people who came to see me, often tailored to their particular needs

what a man ,i wish i was a few years older ,specifcally bred to my liking by the king only in my dreams

Varieties with a reliable provenance prior to '85 are more likely to be what we are looking for
.

id bet anything that the few CG that circulate come from before 85

in my heart i also feel our a particular nyc haze (FRANKIES) is OHAZE that came from the 70's

drought of 2010 i didnt think that would ever be possible ,i thought your the man who sleeps on a bed of cannabis

atleast ive always dreamed of doing soo myself oneday, wit a cannabis stuffed pillow

soo back to your idea of the grail as for traits of taste/aroma

if the thai side of your OHAZE wasnt sweet nor was the lumbo side ,is the darker side spicy/incense somthing you desire ?

Alright Nev, do you use weed for medicinal use mate its just iv read in a previous thread that you have unfortunate back problems ?:(

Chimera's are very very nice. You won't be disappointed! I do feel as if making f2's and selecting for the traits you want would be the best option. The blueberry in it isn't overwhelming as far as dominant traits passed on. If you want a superior Highland (Oaxacan) Mexican, this is probably one of the better lines to work with.

Chimera is a very good guy too. I'm sure he would be willing to chat with Nevil... maybe even donate a cutting of his Mexican for the cause. Not sure on that, as it's a very powerful breeding tool to be giving away. But like I said, Chimera is a good man.

Thanks for the info on Chimera's Highland Mexican x Blueberry. BTW, I looked over Chimera's description of the parentage, and the Mexican is highland Guerreran rather than Oaxacan. Of course, the two are right next to each other on a map, and the strains could be virtually identical. I'm hoping someone makes an indoor friendly Oaxacan cross, but in the meantime you're right, Chimera's looks like a good place to start!

Hello Nevil.....Great to see you here! I've been away in S.America for a month or so on a pip-hunt and I dont get much web-time at the mo' so I just became aware of your much-awaited return to the community you have done so much for...
I was ecstatic when I logged in and saw you on the Forum....Really chuffed to be able to chat to you! I was even more ecstatic to see you are back trying to find the best possible Haze hybrid you can and humbly asking for others help with it as well...Marvellous news mate I will be glad to help in any way I can.
I was myself introduced to breeding by much older mentors in the late '80's who grew nothing but Yours,Sams and later Sensi's strains outside of their own collected cultivars so was brought up on experimenting with your strains from my teens and its been a lot of fun.
I will be eternally grateful for all your endeavours with the cannabis plant and your braveness over the years and hope you didn't suffer too much along the way in order for us to benefit(and a lot of us feel we have benefited very much)!
I agree with you totally that NL5HAZE was a supreme Haze-hybrid...I would give my left nut for the 2 Mum and 1 Pop I had stolen in the 90's that were selected descendants from the first year you released her.
Those were my favourite hybrids ever for so many reasons...absolutely superb hybrid vigour and the most amazing smell and taste like a combination of Meaty,Incensey,Musky and Piney all at once with a superb high. I tried to find similar from Sensi but no joy, after '97 all I tried from them weren't as good as b4 and had less vigour so probably selling F2's at that point methinks!

Re the grail: The best Hazes for the grail I have found that weren't from your 2 famous Males are from rare exceptional pheno's of Seedsmans(via Sam)O.Haze and Sams Thunk hybrid has a lot of good pheno's but is skunky sometimes too. As for outside genes to put in the mix(I have collected Thai,South American,African and other Sats) I will be glad to share anything I have or find with you if it helps find the grail as lots of my work and pleasure has had your strains involved somewhere along the line,so would only be returning a favour.

I wanted to ask you something...I have some old seeds(won't germ since late '90's unfortunately due to bad storage)that are f'4s made in '91 but from your f1 stock originally that I believe were simply labelled 'Haze x NL' and bought from you between '86-'88 in person by a NewZealander who lived in NorthLondon but thats all I know 4 sure....I received them as F2's(OP)in '89 and took them a couple gens with a 4/4 ratio. They were between 10 and 17 week bloomers once at f2 or f3 and I thought had lots of Thai influence(from NL or Haze?) due to the hints of citrus amongst the piney-Hazey flavour, very foxtail buds and skinny alligator leaves in some pheno's plus very occasional inter-sex flowers. Some examples had very soaring highs and they were usually the freakiest looking girls. But seemed quite different from NL5H to me?
Any ideas what they were please Nevil as its always bugged me? A very Crazy Haze indeed.
Thanks in advance, much respect Resinator :D

PS.I Really,Really want some decent NL5Haze(as much as I love you and SB's other Haze work)I miss it terribly,Is that a possibility anytime soon(even F2's)? ;]
