"Specifically, I really enjoy talking to someone who

is -- like myself -- interested in "the nature of the high"

(versus the Commercial Kids, who are focused on weight).

I grew up smoking Mexican sativas (in Bakersfield, 17 years;

then Humboldt for 39 years) and once- in- awhile- Colombian.

It blew my mind when you mentioned Oaxaca and Michoacan;

my very favorite pot of all time came from a Huatulco 'local' I met

on the beach; I bred his pot into my Neville's Haze, eventually . . .

"the rest is History" . . . my friends call it " Think-y "
"

I just remembered a strain from humboldt that fits the grail description exactly. I will ask my friend for more information.

Hi Blabla
This sounds interesting
My other recent strain, the Thai, I brought over from Nong Khai province in northeast Thailand, which is traditionally where the best Thai pot comes from.
N.E. Thailand is credible, can you get more details?
N.

I'm more interested in landrace lines where more human intervention is going on. All the Nepalese that I've smoked had more power than refinement, but who knows, maybe SB and I have Nepalese counterparts. Must keep an open mind whilst not ignoring the lessons of the past.
N.

Hi everybody. An intr. read. Well I just wanted to point out a potential candidate for the grail. A breeder that is as open about his genetics as Neville and Shantibaba. A breeder that has collected, documented and worked with landraces from Cambodia, Nepal and Thailand. I would suggest his thai lady.

id lov to hear more detail aswell ,as she sounds like a candidate

a smoke report would be most appreciated

Kangativa,

Tell me what area of Mendo/Humboldt/Trinity/Oregon and I can see what's around. Does this Haze go by any other names?

Near Mendicino, coastal....No mate it never had a name then either, it was just what a lot of people were growing then. I have it here and it is still basically the same strain. I have kept all the Cali strains that I brought back the same. The only thing I did was cross that Haze with a Cali Skunk to produce my Mendo girl, which I did up there.

Albion? Man, you have to grow sativas there too much moisture. I have an uncle who lives out that way, I'll have him ask around.

Hi All

well been busy with alot of catching up work and pollinations so found a moment after reading this rather long thread to pop my nose in and say hi.

Nev, just happy to see you got into the online world interactively and all seem to love that...no matter whether the Holy Grail is found or takes 10 yr to make...but we will make it like we did the rest.

I have been toying with a few of the original Skunk Haze plants for some time and think that finding a father in a new set of beans would be possible .Considering I think this line is a hard to improve on line, there must be a great male waiting to combine in it.
Secondly I have spoken to Rob Clarke a few times about places we consider to be the last of the undiscovered land races of sativas and we both agreed it to be in the area above Calcutta to Burma...Nagaland, Arunashal Pradesh area. I have permits with several friends to visit in October and we will be in the hunt to speak with the tribes people and going on Rob`s visit and analysis it seems a few tribes in particular...but I will not mention them so as not to expose exact locations. So this is something that holds potential.
Lastly I received lately a few special seeds from a man who just passed away on the island of Reunion . He had been growing a strain known as many names but this was the source of the original ZAMAL sativa grown at an altitude of 1350m for as long as 40 years...and this is ready for preliminary work so I will keep you all informed of the outcome.

All in all it is a great idea to pool resources from the best of the best directly from growers who show the same passion...exactly where the internet will set us free.

So keep up the great work all, and may I add to Nev, if you puffed on the Mango Haze...and wrote so happily you must admit it was equally as impressive in certain ways as the SSH, no?

Be safe and stay well Shantibaba

Pollinations.... More stock or New Stock, I love it. Always busy!

Good luck on the project man, that sounds so awsome! Putting a team together & tracking down these LR, whoooooo hoooooo!

SSH, MH.... lol .... Don't do it Smoke, Smoke don't do it...
so how would you compare SSH & MH Nev?lol

So you want to be a breeder. Easy enough, start with what you like the most and try and make it more suited to your taste. When I started out there was nothing to choose from, I had to pull it all to me. These days you have a smorgasbord to choose from.
Don't get too hung up on names, stoned people make them up all the time, the less creative steal them. If you buy seeds from a breeder, pick one with a track record. If you like certain landraces, go there. One plant can change the world. You might find it. Look for grower/breeders of the types you like. Find me the Grail Mother and I'll make you famous. Go forth young man!
N.

I wouldn't know what to do with fame.... But you can smoke a joint with me & we'll call it even:D
Although if fame was inevitable, let it be for my feet have already started moving ;)
I'm pretty much an MNS guy, so the breeders are you three! Hope SB finds what he's looking for in Calcutta, that sounds so friggin awsome.

But yes, going forth.. & Very excited to have you here along w/SB.

Alright man, later

Inbreeding Coefficient to the Haze Ancestor

This tells me that there was likely no pure haze among them (...)
(...) the inbreeding coefficient to the haze ancestor in NH is at most 37,5%.

Hi Nevil,

May I ask you what you consider the Haze ancestor to be ?
Is it the thaï or its colombian counterpart ?
From what you posted I am inclined to think that you consider it is the thaï.
I always thought the key qualities of the Haze came from the union of the thaï x colombian.
Why let half of the genetics out of the equation ?

Thanks.

Peace.

I know someone who lives in Albion. I'll ask him if he knows anything too.

Has anyone else run into the Thinky in Humboldt? I think that the Thinky may be very close to the grail. It does not have a catpissy inbred haze about it. It is a perfect cross of the Oaxacan and NH flavor and high.

Lol.....Carefull mate, when a Aussie say's close that could mean a radius of 500km:D

Hey mate the godfather of my daughter lives there and last time we talked there is nothing really there to get excited about......I have him on the look as well, dont worry :D

Sorry for my question...
I think that I got it now.
The HzA and HzC were at best half brothers so their common ancestor is the thaï.
Peace.

No one really knows Kashrocs, but my best bet is that the haze effect comes from a Buddha Thai. It's similar to the Thai I remember from the '70s.

No need to look any further I have found it....Hawiian Baby Woodrose seeds.....here is the story:D

First and foremost, disregard their name completely as there is nothing “babyish” about these seeds. They are potent to high fuck and should be treated with the utmost respect, otherwise they won’t treat you with much in return.

To be on the safe side I chowed down 6 of these bad boys after scraping off the furry residue which coats each seed (which is rumoured to be the cause of much of the nausea associated with this ethnogen). There were no effects for the first hour. After about 70 minutes I started perceiving a 3d grid overlayed across my vision, something that I’ve experienced with other compounds in the past.

90 minutes in and I was starting to feel quite ill. The nausea itself faded in and out in terms of intensity until around the 2 hour mark when I decided that it was best to get the vomiting over and done with as I had read in the past that it is an often inevitable symptom of ingesting the seeds. So I went into the toilet and managed to get some stuff out of me and I felt better immediately.

These seeds are as rough as a badgers arse. And as trippy. Well……….

Strangely enough after barfing my guts up the trip took a turn for the better and I noticed that colours were much richer than usual. For some reason I found my pot plant on the window to be highly comical in appearance. I decided to have a bit of a breather and put on a record with the intention of having a lie down on my bed.

The music itself sounded “4d dimensional” and every time I focused on a track it seemed to splinter into pieces. I remember associating it with glass…..that each instrument was a series of splinters in the complex cube that made up the whole song. It’s quite hard to explain…..

Just after the 3 and a half hour mark I began noticing the first real negative side effect of the seeds. I had developed what I can only describe as cobweb vision. When I looked across the room it was if a cobweb was suspended from my eyelids. Everything in the room looking quite smoky through this web. It was starting to become very annoying.

Fortunately after another half the web disappeared. I specifically remember after this, that a bead of sweat rolled down my brow and landed in my eye and that by looking through it I could see rainbows refracting from everywhere. This was the peak of the experience and from here on in the visuals began to decline drastically, so much so that by around the 6 hour mark my perception was normal if not a little slow.

Things stayed the same for another hour or two before I managed to drift off to sleep. I woke the next morning feeling like my usual self. Besides the vomiting, the hawaiian baby woodrose experience was a positive one. Do not underestimate their potency simply because they are legal. They will knock you for six if you take too many.

Lol.....Nev you wanted it trippy, well here it is:D

I guess you are right Nev.
In fact at this point I would not be surpised to learn that even Sam do not know the exact ancestors of those batch of seeds. If the Hz existed under the form of several lines of hybrids and if the Hz brothers were really just growers making seeds for the next year from the late 60's, I doubt there was any pedigree tracking done back then.
Peace.
