Grail: The Ultimate Haze Hybrid

and for clarification, when i saw ecsd i mean the more 100 day plant, with the Lemon/Diesel smelling characteristics. Even the Chem91 which looks like a dead ringer has more of them chem family taste then the real ecsd. I've found most of the sour D being sold to be like the chem91, not true ecsd.

and what I find odd is how you then also have the Colorado Cough, a known NL5 x haze cut from what 88 or 89? But you don't hear to much about it anymore. I've found a clone and few places that have it and grow it out for 13-14 weeks. I just can't believe they only sell it for $10 a gram.

and here's a pic of 12 week ecsd. Could prob stretch a few more weeks even still, but  i miss these buds and the ocean.

That does look a bit like NL5Haze. What does ECSD stand for?

BTW ECSD is just REZ verison iif i recall cause he aquired a true Sd cut fom NYC

Im not that interested in the story but it became widespread big news awhile back .Imo for Nevil to make th eclaim he made he should have gave us more supporting info ,instead he said do your homework an It seems we all agree ,its not possible .

the info is out there, you and I spoke about it before. I only believe some of it, but but Rez did not get is cuts on the internet. Mabye later in the game.
ANd that is where a lot of this name changing comes from.

There even an icmag thread where chem asks about the origins of his cut. I will say for certainty that the bud i pictured is one of those in question in that thread.
sorry the farm

Is it the same as NYCDiesal?

It looks nothing like the diesals I tried.

whats thats the confusion of the lineages.

here is some of soma's nycd.
i think rez even talks about it in some of his threads but theres more shit throwing then between you and I over there. ;)

If the lines are correct, the E.C.S.D or mass super skunk x nl or as nev said his cut renamed is sort of the genesis, but then if they where sold as seed they where bred different ways. But it would be logical that if super silver and jack are the same mom that if others had the cut it would bred other ways.

Coop

much respect always my brother

IMO/IME Ive never seen any diesel or diesel hybrid look like haze .The growth or finished product seems airy or sativa like from the pic an the countless pounds ive smoke or CHEM n her hybrids have never looked like that .The end result of look can be from environment ETC .

I was wrong rez claims he got a true Sd cut (its not his version),which would suit him well as the story is the cats from NYC had the Real Chem clone .but im not sure who coined the term ECSD an thats why i associated rez with it .

'Sour Diesel' aka ECSD came from an accidental cross of ('91 Chemdawg x Mass Super Skunk/NL)x DNL after the DNL hermed and seeded the room. The DNL's lineage is NL/Shiva x Hawaiian

As crazy as this sounds , i believe this is spot on .Im curious as to anyone who has experienced Sb hawaiian indica .becaz our Chem connet has had all 3 ( Chem Sd Hawaiian )since ive first seen her .The hawaiian is Sd without the Fuel and an added berry type taste .

I have herad lemon used to describe her an everyones palate is different but IME/O its lime i pick up ,to be exact lime skittles .Lemon is quite different n somthin give never tasted IME in Diesel or her hybrids

NYCD is a hybrid at best only thing similar to SD is structure .

and what I find odd is how you then also have the Colorado Cough, a known NL5 x haze cut from what 88 or 89? But you don't hear to much about it anymore

If this is in reference to there being a connection to diesel ,I see no relation .Cough has been known to be Frankincense pheno .soo if its possible do you thin if we or anyone crosses a Nl5haze with a skunkhaze we will see any connnections or similarietes .i highly doubt it an it possible for ius all to try it .There is currently Nl5haze offered aswell as skunk haze

I think its funny how we got into deep for a min ,i was just expressing my opinion that i still dont believe its from Nevils stock .i see no connection except fuel an the fuel in haze is quite different from the Diesel which i St8 deez

In the words of a wise man

I would gladly walk over 20 lbs of cali kush to grab 4 ounces off a haze plant which took 12 months

well the confusion *i truly believe* in the mass super skun/NL in this situation.

Like i said i was told that the mss/nl was "jack x ssh or something like that."

Rez sells some sourd x somas nycd as something, uddno i dont follow him around. But doesnt seem like an "f2" would look like that

I've found one place that grows what is similar to the "ecsd" i posted, but its lots of small nugs of super frosty fox tails.

All the other chem/sour d is bigger thicker nugs.

I need to go out and go buy a bunch from the different places and take pics and get some people to taste etc.

I will say you do know where they are growing good diesel, its just stinks from half a block away. :D I love this town.

lime skittles is a good description. I use lemon as a general sense of things, Ive never got any real lemon from the chems. Those are almost ammonia smelling, but sometimes its so stanky i do a double check to make sure its not moldy.

The cough really does not have to much flavor, but great effect. Its got a slight musky odor but its pretty bland flavor but makes up for it in the smoke.

I need to get a new mem card reader and next week when I have some extra money I'll go around and get some buds.

diff growers, but that what i know as ecsd.

You know first hand im very familiar with the real deal Sour D ,yes half a block down more like a block down LOL an lime skittles = SD

There are soo many versions its sad same with haze an any line with popularity .The pics in the THC thread are more solid ,an IMO most likely not the true cutting or what i know as sour d .The Chemdawg aka chem 91 buds are much more solid .

The cough ive heard was afire Nl5haze pheno which was frankincense than ive heard from others had different opinions/ experiences .IMO similar to the deez they cross it oir just throw the tag on it .

I find it very hard to believe that i alone am finding very highly prized plants in the seeds i have run.

I have one Nevilles Haze, and one Mango Haze still going from last winter. Several guys are running clones of those two plants. They are very much keepers. Everyone loves that weed. I had only one SSH, which had good qualities, but I didnt care for it enough to keep it. I will grow more and look for other phenos, but, I prefer Mango Haze and Nevilles Haze to it so far. Not only were the buds high quality, but they were fairly dense buds. Not airy at all. They were fairly easy to trim, and the trim made great hash.

there's a lot of variation, but the flavors are well worth the search, more tropical fruit smells, some with odd musky odors, others with a touch of skunk.
I need to start the rest of my seeds and some f2s.

i was thinking of getting that one next time,
two great plants brought together,
and the selection of them done by somebody who knows them well.
and both are ac combination plants.

I have a C99/Haze that I am growing right now. Very beautiful plant too. I took clones tonight as I noticed the plants starting to go into flower as they are outside. I just put her in a 3 gallon pot for flowering. I also have 2 Tom Hill Hazes outside but they are both males. I was going to pollinate my female but the clone died. I had seeded the C99/Haze last year and these are the seeds from that. Hazy Lady gave me the seeds last year and I made my own from that. My wife smoked the C99/Haze last year and even with seeds it was smooth with a clear uplifting high. No seeds this year so maybe it will be better. I have Mango Haze 1,2,7, and 20 in jars now. My wife seems to like #7 the best. Very clear high as hempy stated but it calms my wife's emotions down.
I also have some Black Widow/Haze I created. Kind of puny buds but maybe they will be good. NL5/Haze is maturing nicely and with all of your guys talk I am very excited now. I also have SSH in flower inside. It's a tree! Smells wonderful too. I also have a Pineapple Thai that is high in CBD but it sure is a slow grower. She is outside too and I cloned her tonight as well. I also have ECSD red hair phenotype going outside that I cloned tonight. I cloned everything outside because of preflowers. As soon as I get a camera I will take pics and post here.

G`day Mr Dawn

Jeez you`ve caught the bug bro !
i told your Wife when she introduced herself here, to look after you .
You`re a keeper .

Thanks for sharin

Elmer Bud .

Thanks bro, I needed some encouragement tonight. I only listed the haze types, I have more. ;)

PS, I almost forgot I also have Skunk/Haze from clone going.:D (not shanti's)

MNS strains in the mix

I didnt make this cross. A Guy in Humboldt did. It has MNS strains in the mix as well as other good stuff. It looks good to me so far.

The info that came with it says Mr Nice x Mango Haze x PK Kush x Flo Purple x LA Confidential.

I've spoken with Ed Rosenthal at length about Ortega on a couple of occasions. Slightly less than a decade ago, Ed was providing clones for local dispensaries, allegedly approved by of the city of Oakland. I'll spare everyone the details of his subsequent bust & trial, as that information is readily available on the internet.

Ed was growing a significant number of plants-- several warehouses worth-- from his large stash of seeds given to him over the years by Neville, Wernard Bruining, the Dronkers (as well as from his own collections), and eventually distributed the clones around the area. While most of what came out of that warehouse were unique specimens (crosses usually-- though not always-- designated by a letter & a number; A-10 was one of the more popular examples in the area), some of them were introductions of older genetics, like Ortega.

I got very attached to Ortega and grew her for several seasons. In the years after she slipped from my grasp I've had a couple of chances to talk with Ed about the Ortega. He told me much of the same story as you see repeated elsewhere:

Ortega came from a local Oakland grower known as "Maple Leaf" Wilson, the nickname coming from the Afghani plants he was known to grow . "Maple Leaf" was a friend/associate of Mel Frank, and eventually Neville & others purchased a significant amount of Wilson's stock, perhaps through Ed (he never said it himself, but seemed to imply it... it's no stretch to think of Ed providing seeds for Nev-- see the "PEHT" listing in the Seed Bank '87 Revised catalog as proof of these sorts of exchanges). (One wonders if Sandy Weinstein is involved somewhere in here, but Ed never mentioned Sandy's name in our discussions and I never thought to prod him to make or deny the connection.)

Early references to Wilson's stock can be found in the Seed Bank 1990 catalog ("Original Afghan Mix: This seedline comes from the collection of the late 'Maple Leaf' Wilson, reputedly once of the first collectors of Afghan seeds...") and the Super Sativa Seed Club ('87?) catalog, where Ortega is known as the "Oakland Indica" (there is no reference in the catalog as such to Ortega = O.Indica, that clarification recently came from Ed himself, who explained it as a NL5 = "Basic 5" sort of thing). There may be other references to this 'collection' in early Dutch canna-seed catalogs, but my collection is incomplete. There's certainly no indication of these genetics in the '87 Revised catalog. Did the Seed Bank ever sell pure Ortega?

If you really want to pin down the Ortega Indica as being part of the "Maple Leaf Collection", a pretty simple connect-the-dots using some relatively recent Sensi Seeds introductions should do the trick.

Marley's Collie
From Sensi's website:
Quote:
After dozens of experimental crossings, the best Jamaican lady was pollinated with a pure Afghani cultivar from the syrup-sweet Maple Leaf Indica family, producing extraordinary results.
From Ed's 'Big Book of Buds':
Quote:
Jam[aican]2 (female) x Ort[ega]15t7 (male)
First Lady, Black Domina and Maple Leaf Indica are other Sensi varieties that make use of the Ortega. MLI is at least 25% Ortega (a female used in this one), as is BD (an Ortega male used here). If Ed's versions of the Sensi 'recipes' are to be believed (he swore up and down that they're correct, no matter what Sensi has said otherwise), Sensi Seeds has used at least three distinct Ortegas (two males, one female) in their breeding programs over the years.

Thanks for sharin

For sharin

Elmer Bud .

dogless aka j ortega suppied nev with the maple leaf wilson lines also garlic bud and ortega just so yiou no the truth not ed nev thinks eds an idots cant go into details but let that be known

Maple leaf

I too, am interested in Maple Leaf. We have one female this year from the old seed stock we were given years ago in Humboldt. Every female from this pack, over the years, has made awesome buds. Very strong, very nice flavor. I thought it tasted kind of like scotch. I wouldnt be opposed to running a full tent of maple this winter. Thats another plant thats getting pollenated with the Blue Crush male. "Blue Maple" ;)
