ok,
so i'm smoking some Durban poison and it tastes very similar to the Jack. I've noticed this kinda pineyness in some ssh and other ssh crosses available around town.

but the flavor of jack now to me seems very similar to the d.p

Hard to imagine a world where NL5 seeds had been common as water for the last 20 years.

Doesn't answer the question I had for orangutang about where his facts were behind his story on the genetics of ortega.

i no dogless pretty well and he did great things with this strain you do no thats where these seeds came from origanlly he sent them to nev nev did some work with them and marketed them along with garlic bud, maple leaf wilson line and others he just sent me a kush line hes been working on i guess the next canabis cup from what i heard he is a great breeder dogless is aka (j ortega)
 
Well next time you speak to dogless check your facts with him.

The NL lines aren't from him they are from the PNW, Nevil purchased them as seeds, the guys behind Sensimilla Tips arranged that deal. Garlic Bud, Maple Leaf, Kush4 and a few others came from dogless so in no way am I trying to belittle his contribution, it was highly significant and Nevil readily acknowledges that.

Maple Leaf Wilson? Only time I've heard of him was in a Sensi advert, the Maple Leaf line came from dogless and is where Nevil found several breeding plants like Afghan S and Afghan T. Maple Leaf is the line that Nevil suspects may be the indica in Skunk as AfgT was the 'skunk archetype' in smell and taste terms, Skunk x AfgT is Superskunk which was a big improvement on Skunk and suggests some part of the Skunk genes nicked with AfgT, again suggesting a common ancestry in part or whole.

DNA's Choco Thai didn't come from Drawoh, Drawoh got those seeds from DNA. DNA grew some bagseed, one of Don's friends said the smell reminded him of Chocolate Thai so they called it Choco Thai.

The mother of MMG was a very stinky plant Aaron found from some bagseed he kept from when he lived in Arizona, they crossed it to G13Haze male to make MMG.

Never seen a piney Durban, all the Durbans I've grown and smoked were dark, earthy, like black licourice, expansive smoke for a sativa. Pine is something I associate with Mexicans primarily. However, the South African genepool is immensely diverse so there could be a piney Durban I suppose.

I don't think Rimmeo's seeds are NL5xSk1 then BXed to the NL5, I think they are NL5xNL2 then BXed, Nevil posted the info here, someone who cares can go check.

Soma isn't from the PNW, he's from NYC, he says so in his book, you can still hear the NYC in his accent, especially when he's aggitated. He lived and worked in FL for a while in the 80s then moved to Oregon, he left Oregon to go to Amsterdam. There are lurid stories about Soma in the time before he arrived in Amsterdam but I don't know if they are true.
 
orang - I'm pretty sure you're correct about that history on DNA's Chocolate Thai. It was bagseed from some bud they said smelled like chocolate. Let's call it chocolate thai kinda thing.

I do know that DrawOH has real deal Chocolate Thai on the other hand, so if he sourced it from them, they eventually found an honest and true source for chocolate thai. It makes for some AMAZING bud and is totally wrecking in hybrids. Snowhigh did a strain called Holy Chocolate Thai with it that just devastates. Would be interesting to know which came first - the chocolope strain or them actually finding chocolate thai to use to make the chocolope seeds using a REAL choc thai.

That is some interesting reading to say the least. Ive been facinated by Maple leaf for some years. My Son holds the old seeds in his collection. We do have one Maple Leaf female from the old seed this year. Im going to keep a Mother and make some seeds with it. It is off the hook! Super super strong. A good bong hit can send you to where you dont know what you are.

What shall I pollinate it with? What sounds good?

That said, "Nev's X Everything" is a pretty good mantra for this moment in time we are sharing, don't you think Doc?

My thoughts exactly. Isnt that what they are doing with the Grail? mixing in Haze's parental lines 1 or 2 at a time or re-creating a paralell? Well thats what i would do in their shoes, but me a good haze hybrid x's some original sams stock will do the same trick i reckon.

I would have to throw my hat in with the Nevil's Haze.


Here is one of my most recent Haze Indicas: It is an F2 Oakland Haze, It is drenched in some of the largest trichomes I have ever seen, they rival the triches of her great ancestor, my original Seedbank NL5Haze cut:

Dogs

Heres a dog hedge tonight. The plants are Earth Stapled down to hedge height.
Its the OG Kush/ Afghani. Not Haze, but fun just the same



I do have some seeds from Hazes crossed with this dog.Theres seedlings 8" tall now. Ill show You later.

A Guy just came over and handed me a bud. Its not dry yet. He black boxed it, and picked it a couple days ago.
He said " This is from the seed You gave me, Its Headband/Nevilles Haze". Im havin fun. :) Ill dry it and cure it.:D
 
Herb - you inspired me to crack some of each out of the haze strains after seeing that thread. That guy grew some amazing O Haze...i wonder if t was seedsman or TFD? Did he ever say anywhere other than it being a cut of o haze?

I busted out some Seedsman O Haze, Tom Hill haze, Seedsman Sugar Haze, Kiwi Seeds Mexican Haze, Nev's Haze, and some Oldtimer's haze Indica Pheno seedstock. Since the oldtimer's haze might have some nepalese in it, it indeed might be good to cross it to the Tom Hill or O haze - might avoid the degradation that nev mentioned from crossing haze to haze with the hybridization. I'm interested in this Oldtimer's Haze indica pheno. Snowhigh told me who bred it originally but I can't remember. Anyone know or know where i can see pics of it?
