Pittbull protection

She was watching each time my pittbulls ran by, so I explained to her that they were no risk to her, and that they kept the place free of cats. The real risk.
Weird as hell. Right after I told her she trusted me, and showed it by fluffin her feathers and relaxing. She let me snap this pic, no problem.

We mostly just have seagulls here...

KUDOS from one animal lover to another.

Great post

Nice pics and post, doc!! I have a cardinal that is trying to make love to my truck mirror, or he's so in love with himself he keeps coming back to my mirror time and again, last night he was in my kitchen window! I'll try and take some pics of him in action, its pretty funny!!

Back in the Orchard garden, where there is a Maui Wowi plant, two LA Confidentials, a Big Headband plant, and an unknown powerful haze ( Which could be a Nevilles haze), I got a real start as i opened the gate and went in. A Dove flew up from her spot under the Kush plants and lit on the latice just above.

I calmed her with a soothing tone, and told her that she was welcome in my garden. I showed her that the berries were good to eat, and She hung out for quite some time. She let Me take pictures up close. She trusted me.

That looks like a Mourning dove; they thrive down in the southern us where I live.

I just got some of Sam's original thai haze x skunk #1 as a freebie. I was not at all interested in it until I started to read this thread.

Thanks!

Great news

Hi guys,i just couldn,t help myself amd share this news,i feel like a teenager who just got his first root;)
anyway,a while back i was contacted by a guy from canad,i won,t get into any more detail than that,as it would not be right.
Anywayme and this kept contact over the months and we got talking about old time strains,he seemd to know his shit, and mentioned some amazing gentics he had grown in the past, then he sent my some pictures of these lines.
I was truelly impressed, finally he offerd me some of his old stock, and of course i graciuosly accepted,he told me had had two lines to send me.Santa marta columbina gold, and red cap kush!
He had explained much about the lines that i will share and photos.
anyway, last week to my suprise and delite i received a pack with said seeds, and large amounts,if these are the real deal, and i,m am sure they are, this is major i will update soon..Sesnsient
P.S 4 s.m.c.g have tails!

Canadian guy with SMCG? It will probably be reeferman's version, good but different to other lumbos I've tried, his is lemony.

Something I wrote in a PM earlier that I felt was worth sharing and discussing:

If MM is Thai x Colombian, you would expect the longest flowering ones to be Thai dominant.

Haze may be Thai x Colombian too, and similar Thais probably went into both Haze and MM.

So you finding that the Thai dom MM is the closest to the best Haze isn't surprising to me, seems logical.

Having tried to grow a bunch of Thais and other sats in unsuitable spots, I reckon that the reason they crossed a Thai to something else to make Haze and MM is because often Thais have a lot of undesirable growth traits, therefore crossing it to another very good sat like a Colombian or Oaxacan should give you something with the power of the original Thai but with improvements in it's other traits from being hybridised.

I don't know if you know anything about this strain but back in the 80s, S.S.S.C. in Maastricht sold a legendary strain called 'Durban-Thai Highflyer'. They had an amazing Thai but it was a total bitch to grow and gave a tiny yield, therefore they crossed it to a Durban stud, the result was said to be truly awesome as it had the trippy power of the Thai and the good growth and yield characteristics of the Durban, it also finished in 14-16 weeks due to the Durban and worked well under lights.

If Haze was developed in Central Cali, in Santa Cruz, then it makes total sense that they had to hybridise whatever Thai they had, I can't see a Thai finishing until January in Cali even under glass, but I know Oaxacan and Colombian types will finish great upto 45N, so I see it as being very likely that the whole reason for Haze being a hybrid is that the Thai that is the root of it's power wouldn't finish in Santa Cruz so they crossed it to something else they had that would finish. Probably the same thing happened in Oz when they made MM, they added a Colombian to a Thai to make it finish earlier and have better growth characteristics.

Hi all,hi british-hempire,the reeferman S.M.C.G sparked my intrest,so i naturaly got hold of some,i have been told that it is not a pure lumbo, and has some indica in it,only time will tell.
Now,the guy i got the S.M i,m talkin about is an old timer,i have been in contact with him for a while, and we have spoken on the phone, this guy seems to really know his shit, and the things he told me,well you just cant make up!
Some of the lines he talked about i have never heard of,he also talked about alot of the old lumbos and mexi lines.
Now he has given me alot of information about his lines, and says he has plenty more to send me!
The S.M he sent me is supposed to be a pure lumbo. he has had the line for many years,he said it originates from the Sinu valley region in santa marta.
He said it was the best S.M he had come across and held onto the line and grew and bred it for many years.
the seeds he sent are relativly unworked, and the result of open pollinations,so the lines genetic integrity is well preserved.
Unfortunatly the seeds are very old,so germ rates are going to be low,as i said i have 4 with tails so far, they are in cubes now,and seem to be germinating fine,i have a few that have cracked, but no tails,so we will see how things progress!
As i said, this guy knows his shit, and i beleive everything he says! By what he has told me,i gather he was part of the cali growing crew in the day,he is a U.S expat, and apparently moved to canada when he retired.
The stuff he has told me and the explanations of the strains he has smoked have blown me away, this guy talks with such passion, and sounds like some posh wine taster raving on about some fine vintage.
I truelly beleive that what this guy has sent me and what he holds is pure gold, time will only tell, but i beleive i have found my own personal grail, thanks guys..Sensient
P.S.just out of intrest british-hempire,or anyone else for that matter, what would you consider the real S.M.C.G should taste and smell like.
unfortunatly in never had the chance to try the real thing,it wasn,t availible in Aus,and i have done much research but have many conflicting reports of what it should taste and smell like,so any info would be great, thanks

Speaking of Colombians, I was recently given a couple of tester packs of Colombian Gold and Colombian Black that come from a newer California breeder called 'Gage Green Genetics'. I'll update when I get around to sprouting them, hopefully they'll be worthwhile.

Sensient, very interested to hear about your heirloom acquisitions from your source. Keep us informed! ;)

i believe that the breeder behind 'gage green genetics' is a member here at mns, should he choose to comment? peace-biteme

That's good news on the heirloom smcg sensient, would love to see a grow report on those!

DjShorts on Colombian Gold

Colombian Gold came from the highland Colombian valleys near the equator, as well as on the coast (the Caribbean and the Pacific).

This was specialty pot offered commercially in the mid-70's, for about $60 to $100 per ounce. It was seeded, but most of the seeds were undeveloped, white and useless. A few rare, viable seeds were found that were dark, small-sized and roundish. The buds were leafy and the most beautiful golden blond color. Legend has it that upon maturity the plants were girdled, then left standing to die and cure in the mountain sun and mist.

The color and cure were unique, and the aroma, flavor and high were equally so. The smell was that of sandalwood incense, almost like frankincense. The flavor was that of a peppery cedar. It was some of the most unique tasting herb in the world, and the high was just as exciting. It was truly psychedelic, powerful and long lasting.

First came the great flavor, then the stupefying awe of the shift in consciousness followed by a giddy excitement and bursts of joyous laughter. Smile-lock and red-eye made it painfully obvious who was under the influence of this great psychedelic herb.

The plants from the seeds of the Gold were primarily of Sativa origin. They grew a medium to tall size outdoors at 45°N (Seattle), and were mostly symmetrical. On occasion the symmetry was interrupted by one side outgrowing the other, causing a rounded and bulging tipped bush look. The leaves were long and slender.

When grown in Washington state, the finished product was a sweet, spicy Sativa bud that matured around mid-November. The high was adequate but not as good as the Oaxaca Highland grown at the same latitude. The plants were also slightly hermaphroditic.

The CG I have sounds a lot like DJ's memories, the 'smile-lock and red-eye' are definitely there and the sandalwood incense, almost like frankincense is spot-on for how it smells and tastes, this is why I keep saying I think the incense in Haze in from the Colombian...

I believe Kanga and Nev might have some insight into the Colombian genes to share in the near future.

Also, I second what DJ said about Highland Oaxacan Gold finishing better at northerly latitudes, but that is logical as Oaxaca is much further from the equator than the highlands of Colombia...

Nev had a sample of Colombian he was enthusiastic about when I saw him last. Unfortunately it didn't get smoked as a fresh sample of MulluM was being tested. That sample from the big tree Kanga calls the beast was still wet and yet, despite not having the 3 month cure that is prescribed as a minimum, Nev was red eyed and very high and described the effect as electric. The boys were very excited by this (Kanga was especially speechless after just 3 tokes:D And Nev having smoked a bit more, kept asking, "Are you sure you've got the cuttings from this?":D

For my part I have smoked some of Kanga's 15 foot MNS Nevil's haze and wasn't disappointed. I can clearly see the similarity with the MM that Nev describes, for while the smell is different (not as sweet as MM) the taste is almost identical and the effect is of the same intensity. There are however, some differences. The NH seems to animate the tester from within and propels the consciousness into the stratosphere - if I could say the Oaxacan puts the smoker right into their heart chakra - the Haze pushes one right up into the crown chakra and illuminates everything below. The MulluM on the other hand seems to illuminate everything outside of the smoker and invests the surroundings with a divine luminescence. As such I would say the MM is more trippy, more visually distorting than the NHz, while the NHz is a more soaring, esoteric high.

In the ancient Indian philosophy of Vedanta, two of the philosophical pillars are: I am God and: Everything is God. For me Nev's Haze confirms the first pillar, and Kanga's MM the second:) Both are very cerebral, yet mentally devastating in quantity, with absolutely no ceiling.

Nev is currently focused on crossing the long flowering NHz with MM, and the short flowering NHz with Kariba. Then its a question of how to integrate the beautiful flavor and mood enhancing effect of the Oaxacan.

A lot of strains are still being tested and crossed, but few have impressed like the ones mentioned. Nev says a lot of strains when first smoked give a semblance of that old 5Hz high, but drop off after half an hour whereas the good stuff keeps you up there for hours. While the boys didn't like the smell of the Purple Mexi Thai - they certainly enjoyed the effect, and Nev was particularly interested in sourcing the Mexican in that cross (of which 15 seeds exist), because it reminded him of the Mexican he loved and lost in the eighties. And then crossing that to Kanga's Oaxacan (in the same way as crossing NHz to MM) to strengthen and ameliorate the existing elements in both.

If you didn't know who Nev was and you saw him in his new environment, you wouldn't look twice; so seamlessly does he fit into the local milieu of rustic bohemian misfits. But spend some time with him and you realize the guy has one focus to which all other concerns are secondary - what's the best dope in the world - and how can I make it better?

Like a pair of pigs rolling in shit - those boys:D

Great post mate. I just wish I could be their apprentice, sounds like some awesome things going on.

I should be able to get hold of the Oaxacan cutting I had again, friends still have it, I only lost it due to my debacle in Holland, was one I wanted to keep permanently, when done right it was awesome imho, like pine needles drizzled with gasoline and very uplifting and soaring but didn't have the unsettling, speedy paranoid effect of my other Mexcan.

Oaxacan indoors in coco, yields immense in 14-15 weeks, when I placed a 26W UVB CFL near her one time she turned purple:

As to the authenticity of the Oaxacan I have, compare it to this picture of Oaxacan in the 70s, looks pretty bloody similar to me:
