To those of you complaining about not receiving gifts from British Hempire, what the #@$% are you thinking?
First of all, to even ask for something like that is an imposition.
I don't know BH, but from what I have read, it appears what he has is the result of investing much time and hard work. I have also picked up on the fact that like many other veterans in this pursuit, it has caused him significant hardship in his life. I have also seen hints of medical issues that he wrestles with.
Because he shares what he has with us on the web, you apparently think you are entitled to impose on his good will and ask for what has cost him so much to be given to you.
Now I do not know BH at all, and I am on another continent away from him, but as I read and lust after what he has been able to create for himself over the years, the thought crosses my mind: "I wonder if I asked him for some seeds if he would send them?"
Then I put myself in his shoes and think: "What's in it for him? Who am I to ask him to spend the time to do that for a perfect stranger?"
This is not even taking into account any legal risk involved with sending things which may be somehow against the law in the address you are sending them to.
It's called empathy. If every MNS member imposed on the good will and generous spirit of people like BH and sent messages asking for free beans, I wonder how long it would take before they stopped responding to PMs or even worse, stopped posting. The fact that others have jumped in and said "yeah, he didn't send me free stuff either" should give you some idea of the nature of the problem.
The sense of entitlement on display here, that anyone is actually owed anything from another member for nothing is offensive to me.
Several other members have similar collections of genetics here and could easily turn that collection into a revenue stream by becoming a commercial seed producer.
I suspect the reason they don't is because they do it for themselves and their friends/family. Theydon't want the hassle of doing it for others.
I haven't seen the communications you have exchanged, but if I desperately needed something the other member had, and they offered to send it to me but then didn't, I would communicate to them the reason why I needed it so urgently and ask them if there was anything I could do (money included) to make it worth their while, and if that didn't work for some reason, I would not be surprised or disappointed.
If you were one of the members close personal friends, you would have them already.
Obviously you are not, or you wouldn't be bashing him on a public forum.
Are my expectations in working with strangers on the internet not realistic?
If you need the beans so desperately, buy them from someone that sells them for a living.
, but it seems from what i have read that he is promising people shit and not coming through with it, not a trade as such but i totally agree if he cant come across with shit then he should not be asking people for safe addy's then ignoring people's pm's, now that is just fucking rude man, gets people worried at the same time.
