Look at the NL line, the recessive have rolled into every version, nanners at the end, its hybridization at the core. Amazing specimens are available yet your passing a recipe for defeat.

im reading smoke reports from different grows diaries here on board, more n more growers report indica highs of 50% haze crosses - like nl5hz , a big no no in my world
also, we dont have a time machine to go back 30/40 years, to reproduce what was crossed back then today
only simple math and simple logic, not more not less

having picked up some nice headstash quality fat nugs of both nevilles and mango haze...
just wanted to add to this thread my thoughts...
they both have that funky fruity taste and bag appeal of chronic you would find in south florida in the 90's. the high however and taste, are completely diff.
the nevilles haze has a strong incense smell, your whole house will reek of it for a good hour after youve smoked it. not too fruity. nice fat looking nug, composed of many foxtails upon closer inspection. darker colors than the mango haze.
th mango haze has a more pleasant and fruitier taste and smell, more resiny, more foxtails and less of a fat nug like the nevilles haze. still some incense but also some fruit, maybe lemon, maybe mango. but will also stink up the house for a while.
curious thing is that you can turn off a joint of either of the two hazes, walk into a room, and no one will smell herb on you. the place where you smoked it will smell like incense but there is no skunky herb smell attached to you. so kinda stealthy, also a dried nug can be transported easily without letting the whole neighbrohood know your carrying.
high is a real clean sativa high, not too racy, youre left just as stupid as you might be with any non haze, but youre not at all tired, just high as giraffe pussy...
so now i know what a haze is i guess... after trying several diff super silver hazes in the dam, along with amnesia haze, pyscho haze, and now mango and nevilles haze, i would have to say that my fave is mango haze.
now as far as the grail, i have a question. will the grail, or haze hybrid, as the thread title would suggest, be 100% haze, as in a hybrid of diff hazes, or part haze and part something else, like a nice sativa. i ask because i smoked plenty of herb in oaxaca, and if nev is thinkin of usin that in his grail mix, i was a little confused cuz i dont eactly remember the best oaxacan herb being hazelike, at least not with the classic incense haze taste...
then again, i am a complete noob when it comes to hazes and have no idea what im talking about....
its just, this nev haze im smokin has got me rambling and happy so thought id share

EDIT: by incense i mean frankincense, you know, that church smell... i believe also typical in ethiopian resins rastamen burn during ceremonies and grounations...

Hi fxginbcn, I liked your description of Hz aromas and share your taste in fruity sativas. But I've read that Oaxacan Gold was probably one of the first ingredients in the Hz - and you've described Oaxacan pot as the best you've smoked, DjShort describes it as the benchmark for quality weed, R Clarke said etc. so pretty high likelihood it was in there with the Colombians at ground zero in the mythical genesis of haze.
Some of the Oaxacan I've smoked shares similarities with Mango Haze in the taste dept. fruity/citrus tones with a ripe velvet/funk; and high - deeply relaxing but at the same time stirring...also some similarities in leaf structure. I was lucky enough to to cross a Oaxacan male and Mango female, and the progeny are rangier, later flowering plants than the Mango...

its gone n lost 4ever, without knowing, i bet the parents arent anymore existing, and all todays offerings are only seed based recreations missing that extra speedy racy psychodelic trait, it was also smart pot - meaning not leaving you stupid, instead giving you hightened awareness like mushies or acid

As Donny said us Aussies aged over say 40 grew up on speed weed. Freaking out or " spinning out " as we used to call it was a pretty common occurrence for many people on a lot of the good mull I used to smoke in the 1980 - 1990 period. The old paranoia from pot was par for the course on a lot of that weed. I always preferred good leb-nepali-affie hash to the local weed if I could get it . I had too much energy as a young bloke , the last thing I needed was more 
It's funny how the modern anti cannabis types tell lies about " modern skunk - hydro " being so dangerous for mental health. They are full of it as usual. The old pure satties from the 70s and 80s would rank way higher on the " dangerous to some peoples mental health " meter than any modern strains in my opinion. Ive never felt paranoid on ANY modern skunk or indica strain but had plenty of minor freakouts on old school Aussie sativa pot. "Each to their own" as a wise man once said. Just before elmers visit i had a 5 day hiatus from the good erb,
eventually i had to indulge ,, the family couldnt stand me any longer they said, lol ..
i had a bong of nevs haze with some of that hash on the top ...
ohhh boy ,, hot and cold flushes and rushes in the head and along the neck, a bit of sweating ,
mind racing so fast i could barely focus on anything ,
and it was like i was looking through a fish eye lense or something ,,
my eyes were hot and teary ,,
bordering on unpleasant , but a fun ride ....
eventually i had to indulge ,, the family couldnt stand me any longer they said, lol ..

Ive never smoked f1 Nev's, had "local cuts" that were insane but a lot more to the northern lights ( and haze A?) side of things, "mushroomy" and spaaaaacey, not lycergic with the focused "zoned in" mania heh. More like just being stoned in a way that feels like forever. For me, it was good. Others not so much.
Most speedy shit I ever smoked I grew, durban (friends inbred seeds) and destroyer (new guy).
Best sat ever, best smoke ever really, is some lime thai my old mans buddies grow in recycling bins. Cant talk about that though. Shit I cant even get it lol. Greedy old heads.

Smells like sage, mixed with slight tones of amonia, orthodox chirstina flavoured incense is enveloping the room... no pernoia for me older timers... maybe I didnt get the proper pheno, lololol but it is 4 in the morning, I am going to water a garden now... so probably best to save NH for the mornings and 6 to 8 hours before bed time, cause I am still rising...
