G13

Ive still got the Beta G13 x Sk test seeds which I do plan to germinate this coming spring. These seeds are quite old now, nearly 7 years old if memory serves me correctly. They've been stored in sealed plastic, stuffed inside film canisters surrounded by rice since I last germinated them back in 2003/2004. So that's what this thread is looking forward too in three to four months, the germination levels could be non existent at this point but we're going to find out one way or another.

Hi all,
Below are some glimpses of the projects I have going on this season. Much to my delight, the beta G13 x Sk circa 2003 has been succcessfully germinated and the pollination process is maturing as we speak. These seeds were fairly old, and I honestly did not expect anything from them. Before the germination process, quite a bit of research surrounding all things germination took place in order to be as successful as possible instead of resting on my laurels so to speak. I feel very grateful to have this line grace my garden this season once again.

Hi all,
Thanks for stopping in fella's, this is a strain that Ive had a love affair with for many years now. Perhaps one of my most prized possessions genetic wise.

G-13

G-13 was never lost in the USA. It was renamed to Bulldawg at Ole Miss due to the rumor that if you have plants labeled G-13 you will get theft of government property charges. There were a lot of strains fished out of that facility. People used fishing poles with hooks to get buds or plants out until the second gate went up. There were some horrible strains that were trashed quickly. Some were very nice. Most died off but some are still around in pure form and hybrids.

I paid $500 dollars for G13 in Oregon. I just repeated the story I was told. It was a good indica.

Hi Nev,
Thats excellent information, info which was previously unknown by the majority! Thank you for sharing! As most of you may know, G13 became a legend once it found its way to the hands of Nevil, who subsequently bred and marketed it at "The Seed Bank", Hollands first mail order seed company, the company which was instrumental in spreading nearly all of todays super strains! Without Nevil, who knows where the state of the cannabis equilibrium would be to day?

I just finished giving my outdoor clones, who were grown explicitly for means of providing seed to assure the beta G13 x Skunk line would be able to see the light of day again in the future an initial trimming! Some choice words for these plants would be, heavily indica dominant, chunky sticky monkeys! For plants no taller than 2 feet, they were quite heavy and seeded to the point that I feel this season has been a true success!

As I had mentioned previously, these seeds were approximately 8 years old and to get above a 50% germination rate was a blessing! They were stored well, and hopefully next season I can break into the crown jewels of my collection with an equally successful germination rate. Though I wont hold my breath! Though keeping my fingers crossed!

Ive still got some beta G's outside, a last minute decision to see if I could let them go a day or two longer to fatten up without losing a significant amount of herb to either frost or rot! Final pictures soon to come! (hopefully at least).

Hi all,
After recently harvesting the beta G13 x Sk, and with an initial trim, this is a very sticky variety! Gooey even! The odor from this line is quite pervassive, with a complaint or two being lodged during the drying process! Those who have sampled this line, have reported it to be extraordinarily strong and I can tell you I'm very pleased to be in possession of both seed and clone form a variety as special as this particular line! Any fears of not perpetuating this line into the future I may have had, are now at ease, as the seed count is looking pretty fruitful! Some of my girls were far more seeded than others, as I incorporated a couple different locations to ultimately finish the plants and clones from the seed plants. Im able to pretty much replicate this seasons results at will now, and this is one of the few varieties I feel is quite worth my time and effort to keep around.

Excellent cannabis from all initial data, and I can definitely see why this line has built the reputation that it has today. Few are in possession of such a line today, with even fewer being able to definitively lay claim to genuine possession of this variety as it stands. I would like to thank Shanti for the oppurtunity to run such a line and Nevil of course, for collecting and marketing this variety to the world! This is one of the best lines Ive seen from seed and indeed a variety well worth anyones time.

I would think that those with less tolerance, even very seasoned smokers who have took a break from smoking, would be able to easily understand why G13 has the reputation that it has with a properly selected phenotype. I would describe the initial effects as almost a motion of wave effect. There is an almost pulsating effect to the cannabis once buried in smoke. It has a heavy, pungent, lingering aroma after consumption that is quite reminiscent of Afghani varieties Ive worked with in the past. Though perhaps a superior specimen due to its nature and breeding work done by those before us, The University of Mississippi, Nev and Shanti. Special thanks to Skunk#1 of course lol. ;)

Hi all,
Below is one of at least two articles Ive got on the University of Mississippi and its cannabis programs originally posted by others at various forums. The story surrounding the G13 is well known, and its links to this particular institution are common themes in the story.

May I ask what's the difference between the beta G13 x Sk, and the regular seeds available from Shanti right now? I've acquired a pack of the G13 x Skunk, just wanted to know if there's a difference between the two.
